NBA Trade Rumor: Eddy Curry For Shawn Marion

According to the NY Daily News, the Heat and Spurs are interested in Eddy Curry. Why? I couldn’t tell you. But if the Knicks can get back anything of value – ranging from a bag of potato chips to a new member of their dance squad – they’ll make out like bandits.

Talk about value, the Heat may be willing to trade D’Antoni favorite Shawn Marion, but a potential deal is intially complicated because of unequal salaries. I’ll say it now – if the Knicks add The Matrix to their roster and only have to give up Curry, they could be a surprisingly dangerous ball club.

Would you make this deal?

Even if the Knicks make this trade they’ll still be garbage.Marion aint no game changer.

Wow, the Heat with Curry…..Wade missed having a Buffet Lover in the lane?

  • fresh

Eddy Curry is going to bomb it like terrorists

  • Dank

    better trade:

after missing out on Kobe in the summer of 07, the knicks trade Stephon Marbury to the grizzlies for GM Chris Wallace. Kevin mcHale is released by the T’wolves for destroying/tampering a franchise, he then serves a 5 month jail sentence and is signed by the lakers after Mitch Kupchak mysteriously dissappears. in a not so hollywood ending, the following trade takes place:

Knicks get: Pau gasol, Kobe Bryant, and Andrew Bynum

Lakers get: Eddy Curry, malik Rose, isiah thomas(just to wreck the front office and slap some bitches) and Keith Van Horn (who was signed just to even out the numbers)

and the grizzlies win the championship and Marbury is named MVP

i have no idea why anyone would trade for curry. if i was him i would beg for a minimum buyout from the knicks, work my ass off and comeback in 2 years. an EMBARRASSMENT to the league

  • Yoooo

If im the Knicks Id be getting rocked up thinking about this. You could move David Lee to the bench to give the 2nd unit a solid/consistent presence…

Anytime u can trade a bum for talent u do it. Ask the Lakers how it worked for them last year…

O and maybe this is Miamis chance to get a PG if NY puts Steph in to balance out the dough. Thatd fill 2 voids of theres. And im sure Wades TO:assist ratio could use it. Miami just has no other intriguing piece than Marion. Yo the heat suck. I just realized how stife their roster was… YUK. DWade has gotta be looking for an exit in ’10. Him and Beasley don’t even seem like “teammates” I haven’t seen them interract or have any kind of on court chemistry

  • J Tok

I’d just take the Lay’s potato chips for Curry… those number work out.

  • FallODaLdr

Wouldn’t a Starbury for Matrix make more sense? Both teams get what they want and if the HEAT really want E-City, give the Knicks Blount as well. There contracts are the same length and money. The Knicks get rid of two cancers and the heat get a starting pg and C.

  • parinaz suns

i just got the BIGGEST smile on my face BRING THE MATRIX TO NY. i will finally get into the knicks. he is my favorite player in the league. but wtf is wrong with miami eddy curry really? shawn marion is better than that… at least shaq is one of the greatest but that fatty?

  • Jones

NO for Miami. No to Curry. Marbury though is a different story.

  • Ian

the spurs are interested in curry?????? does pop know this shit???

  • baron boy

get curry and starbury in a package to go somewhere.

  • heartbreaker85

curry can score down low regardless of his weight, which basically replaces a part of what shaq did for the heat.

plus, that would balance their frontline, moving haslem back to the defensive rebounder pf, and beasley at 3.

but the spurs though? pop’s growing into a senile old man– beard and all.

  • Eazzy Yi

    marbury+ curry
    for the matrix+ blount
    seems fairly equal

  • Joaquin

curry will at least give miami a serviceable big. it’s d-wade and b-easy who will take most of the shots anyway.

gotta move marion now. his stats are suffering in miami. its just not his place.

  • solomon

knowing eddy’s eating habit, let me edit a post above

“Eddy Curry is going to bomb it in the toilet room like terrorists”

  • http://nba.com ninja cool

Why not throw in Antoine Walker for good measure. Wade will surely loooooooove playing with them.

  • that’s whats up

that’s like a two for one

  • Kudabeen

If Curry plays with better more demanding Vets he will be better for it. Wade and/or Duncan/Popovich would be more demanding of him. He wouldn’t put Miami in the playoffs…

  • fallinup

Haha…this rumor is hilarious. If Marion goes for Curry, I’ll shit my pants. Then send it to Pat Riley for pissing on his team.

I’d love to see Curry in Pop’s system. Just to see how long it takes until Eddy breaks down in tears after Pop’s Classic Mid Game Death Stare.

  • Logan Light

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Keep E-City out of Miami. There is no need for this trade… not when we’re only a handful of games into the season. Wade is carrying the team right now – ride it out. In about a month you’re going to get SO much more value for Matrix.

    This is stupid.

  • it aint easy being green

i dont think the bag of potato chips deal will work out for the nicks, as eddie will just eat them shits before they even make it to the physical.

  • that dude

If you really think about it Steph/Curry for Marion/Blount makes perfect sense. Steph will go to a team that actually needs him and like it or not Steph can still ball, Curry will get more clock( he is effective when he is motivated). Then Marion can play for a coach that knows how and where to use him, then u have Mark Blount a jump shooting center who could spread the floor in the knicks new offense as well as not clog up Zach Randolph.

  • Ashlov

No way Riley skullfucks his 2010 cap space for Curry. He can score in the post, but he can’t rebound for shit, and that’s not what we need.

I’d rather the Heat continue to drain years off of Haslem’s life playing him at center and waiting for 2010 to score big. Keep dreaming, this’ll never happen.

  • Ansonious

If the knicks get matrix I think there dreams of making the playoffs this year would come to fruition. Shawn is a great defender, he is always on the fast break, and would be key to the knicks success this year. I for one hope this isn’t just a rumor.

  • Jah

    Maybe…

  • PALakerFan

I honestly think the Spurs could change Curry. He would be surrounded by hardworking professionals who could motivate him, and a coach who could teach him. I hope for his sake the trade happens. Miami would be bad for him though. Miami is no place for a lazy, fat big man. Ask Shaq.
Wade is outta Miami the second he can be. Steph for Marion would work for both teams and would free up Wade from ball handling and focus on scoring again.

  • Ross

I don’t think he’ll pass a physical, so he probably wont be going anywhere.

  • PWeezy

“But if the Knicks can get back anything of value – ranging from a bag of potato chips to a new member of their dance squad – they’ll make out like bandits.”
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH That was funny i was laughing at my office desk for a good 5 minutes yeah trade him for a bag of lays curry chips i dont know if they got that available in the states but they do in canada

    Weezy

  • johnny

It’s all about who NY would throw in with Eddy.

  • FallODaLdr

    @ 23

Blount and Curry have the same amount of years and money on their contracts. Miami and NY will be in the same place money-wise after the trade.

  • CitizenB

This never happens. Pat Riley still makes the move and has a divine hatred for fatboys (the man thought James Posey was fat and benched him). Also, see ‘Toine. None of this is going to happen anyway, no one trades within their division like that and San Antonio ain’t got anything their willing to part with (Matt Boner….I mean Bonner)

  • TD

Why not just let Marion go for nothing this summer and sign like 3 players that will help fill out the Roster. Cuz the Heat’s bench is garbage. Both the Collins Twins suck, but they can play center and are cheap. JKidd and AI know they aren’t gettin paid major money anymore, go after some of those guys in the 2009 class for 10 mil total and make a run at a real center in 2010.

  • Big Shot BOB

I say the Spurs sign Antonio Mcdyess. He could help out while Manu and Tony P are out. Think about him and Duncan working the High low post game. Mark my words a Mcdyess signing by the Spurs would be huge provided he doesn’t sign back with the Pistons. Tehy said he lives in Houston in the summer San Antone is still in Texas.

Whay would you wish this BS on the Lakers, what did they do to you? I mean damn! that’s just wrong…

  • George W Kush Sr

The Knicks already have Chandler, they should package Jeffries (3yrs left on contract) and Curry (2 yrs left on term) for Marion.

Even if the trade doesn’t work out, we get rid of 2 stupid contracts for a $17 Million contract that expires in June.

    Walsh better get this done.
