Nolan Smith Sets the Garden On Fire
Nolan SmithGoodness gracious.
Streaking down on the break, Nolan Smith had the opportunity to throw a lob to the super-freak Gerald Henderson for a sure-fire SportsCenter Top 10 play.
But instead of took it himself, looking like Jason Richardson jumping off of two feet up and over two defenders for a No. 1 top play, no doubt.
If Smith sat down right now and didn’t get off the bench for the remaining 15 minutes in this game, he’d still be the one prospect who caught NBA attention for that one dunk. If former Blue Devil DeMarcus Nelson could start at point guard in the League for a couple of games before dropping to the D-League, Smith has nothing to worry about.
However he’s not the only intruiging talent. The 5-11 Saluki point guard, Kevin Dillard has got pretty good handle and his court vision is outstanding. The only problem is that the guys who he is passing to aren’t able to finish (or even catch) a lot of the five-foot gimmies that he sets them up with. As the clock ticks down, it’s clear that giving Dillard the ball and letting him work is SIU’s best offense.
Two other prospects we’ve been watching tonight (and will continue to keep an eye on) are Duke’s Kyle Singler and Gerald Henderson. There’s something smooth about Singler, but he hasn’t been able to make anything tonight except one lay-up and one three. The same thing goes for Henderson, who has missed a chunk of open three’s.

Duke is not impressing me. UNC, however, is living up to their preseason hype.

nolan smith is legit..he reminds me of a small version devin harris or a dj augustin type..not really a true point but a lead guard that can pass the ball but is explosive and can score!!! ..trying to figure out who is but he is legit….very fast..great on the break…
