To follow up on THIS POST this morning, this is what it looked like over at the 8th Avenue between 16th and 17th Streets in Manhattan around 7 a.m. this morning. Hoops breaking out in the rain with the Red LeBron basketballs left on the court. Apparently red basketballs were left on 23 playgrounds around the city and we’re hearing there might be something going on up by MSG pre-game tonight …

It seems that Bron almost has more home court advantage in NYC than he does in Cleland.

isn’t this sort of tampering? i think the owners of the cavs have a case if they want to take it to the nba.
i mean sort of tampering if the knicks are involved in any of this.

If Lebron comes to NY and the Yankees with the World Series with CC being one of their aces, I think the city of Cleveland is going to set itself on fire.

The Cleveland argument is that James already is a marketing icon. But according to Manhasset-based Marketing Evaluations, Inc., the Q Scores Company, James has a 47-percent “level of familiarity” among a poll of general population from the past summer, which ranks sixth among basketball figures.
Michael Jordan, who retired in 2003, leads the way at 82 percent. Shaquille O’Neal is tops among active players at 80 percent and his former Lakers sidekick, Kobe Bryant, is third at 75 percent. Magic Johnson is fourth at 73 percent and it drops off dramatically after that, with Yao Ming just ahead of James for fifth at 49 percent familiarity.
Among sports fans, James is fifth in level of familiarity at 72 percent. Bryant leads the way with 90 percent and Jordan and Johnson are tied for second (89), followed by Shaq (87).

that's whats up says:
it’s to Nike’s great benefit that LBJ play in New York.
The League too.
Unless Lebron gets a major injury within the next year and a half, he is going to be the most marketable Superstar and the GLOBAL demand for him will be extremely high. He will also be in his prime and probably surpass Kobe as best all-around by then. hell, he might do that this year.

It’s interesting, and exciting in a way, I guess, but I’m already getting sick of hearing about this. Are other companies going to start throwing money around in other cities that have projected cap space in 2010?
Meanwhile, somewhere in America, some family is trying to decide if they’re going to keep their house or their car, because they can’t afford both anymore… what a waste of money. LeBron’s the man, but this is the last thing our country needs.
