First it was Herman Melville. Then it was Sun Tzu. Now, it’s time for a little Walt Whitman.
What started as an extension of the olive branch has turned into an ugly situation in Golden State. To help assuage their rocky relationship before the season, Don Nelson named Al Harrington the third captain alongside Stephen Jackson and Andris Biedrins. But it appears the title didn’t produce the results Nellie was looking for.
From what started as a request, has turned in to almost a certainty.
“I think Al will be traded, but we’ve got to wait until we get the right deal for him,” Nelson said after Wednesday’s win, which brought the Warriors’ record to 2-3. “But in the meantime, I have to bring his replacement along.”
As The Fantasy Doctor told you this morning, Nelson verbally committed to giving Brandan Wright more time as the Warriors try to unload Harrington.
“He’s a good player. I like him on the court,” said Nelson, who ruled out moving Harrington to the inactive list. “If you’ve noticed one thing about me, I play the best players. Whether you like that or not, that’s usually what I do. I try to put the best players on the floor most of the time.”
If Nellie truly plays his best players, there is no reason Captain Harrington should sit.
How do you see this situation panning out?

most likely a big man or combo big man will come to GSW. therefore wright might not get as much time as people expect. also, dont forget that cmagg was out too. i know wrights game is points off putbacks in addition to other things.. but you have to expect that this will be his only source from here on out depending on who comes to GS.

Al needs to stay in Golden State. He isn’t a true PF or a true SF. Goldenstate allows him to flurish because the system doesn’t ask him to take on a traditional role.

Free Al. If a dude wants out let them out. Why keep someone in a situation they don’t like. You will not be getting the full potential out of them clearly.
Perhaps a good fit for the Clippers in a trade. I don’t know but let the dude go.

Harrinton will continue to play big minutes, the Warriors will continue to lose and Harrington will eventually get traded. At least Nelson does what a coach is supposed to do and put the best players on the floor, unlike a certain coach in New York. When you play the player you’re trying to get rid of, sometimes their value actually improves and you can trade them, instead of completely sinking your organization, but I guess that’s another story.

Warriors need to get rid of HArrington. All he does is want to jack 3’s. B-Wright is legit and can bang but just needs more PT to showcase his nasty stuff.
Warriors for LIFE!!!!

I remember when Harrington used to go to the rack. Since he came to G-State, I haven’t seen that version of Al Harrington. The Ws need a player who can grab some boards and play close to the basket. They have enough shooters as it is. Al just isn’t a good fit and never was in Golden State.
Trade his ass.
