Paul Pierce’s Game-Winner vs. Atlanta
When Joe Johnson hit that tough leaner on the baseline in Paul Pierce’s grill with less than two minutes to play last night, I figured that he took the next step in the “superstar” debate. After a Boston bucket gave the C’s a two-point lead, Joe came down, drew a double-team and found Marvin Williams for an open trey in the corner. I figured that sealed the deal – on the game, and the debate.
But who is going to remember what Joe Johnson did on this night after the All-Star break? In the books, his 28-point, 7-assist game looks a whole lot like every other night for Joe. And Paul Pierce’s fall-away 18-footer with 0.5 seconds left to give the Celtics a monster win will effectively work as a mind-eraser against Joe’s exploits.
Don’t underestimate the value of this W for Boston. It was a hard fought game the whole way, and as Rick Kamla puts it, the Hawks almost came to Beantown and “stole a win.” Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised in the least to watch some sit-down interview with the Big Three in April about the biggest wins of their season, and to put this one right at the top of the list.

Could have went either way, but yea Paul did his thing. I still think there was more time left after his shot. Also again imagine what Atl could do with a real coach.
Paul doing his thang though. Maybe the best in the world fa real?
When do the Lakers and Boston meet up?

I mean, yeah, Pierce is a superstar. That was a great shot.
But, I still dont think that takes away from Atlanta did last night.
Think about it: On the road, 2nd night of a road back-to-back against the defending champs, no Josh Smith, Zaza out for a half, Horford not playing much due to foul problems.
ATL´s scrub big men were playing.
The fact ATL almost took it, says a lot about that team. Boston SHOULD have won.
So, im saying, Pierce hit a great shot, but I still think you gotta give ATL props for that game.

Uncanny.

Must admit, it was great clutch shot by Pierce. What can you do? Moral victory for the Hawks, but a loss is a loss. Still not all that a Pierce fan these days because he seems to score a disproportionate share of his points on questionable foul calls. But I guess I should’nt begrudge a guy for seeking contact. I’ll take Pierce and Ray over yappity Garnett any day though.
Boston needs to shore up that bench if they want to repeat.
Marvin’s newly-discovered 3-point range is one big change in the Hawks. Poor Acie–Flip has (justifiably) taken over most of his minutes.

As A Hawks fan, it was a great agme but at the end of the night its counts the same as losing by 30. Joe Johson proved he belongs in the top 10 of the league and even Eric Snow thinks so. You put Josh Smith in this game to lock down on Pierce at the end of the game nd Truth wouldnt havent even touched the ball. Hawks still 6-1 and looking great with my boyyy Mike Bibby leading the way for the soaringgg Hawks. ATL!!!

Why is a vid of Houston fighting PHX where the game winner should be? I’m out like Nash being a solid contributor in a fight…

It must be opposite day @ Dime today.
The Hawks look good but I can’t see them sustaining this run all season long.
But like the Celtics last year, you’re gonna get a bandwagon of ATL Hawks fans, I know two of them already.

It’s looking really good for Atlanta… they march into the garden and take it to the wire without Josh. And yeah, I caught Garnett’s antics again last night, jokes. I hope someone lays him out on his back one of these nights because that’s the best position for a bitch.

Whay is everyone on PP nuts all of a sudden, sayin he might be the best and he’s so clutch. Two years ago dude couldn’t even take his time to the playoffs… It took three All Stars and a serious bench for him to even make the playoffs. Longevity says it all. Since when did people start putting him the top 5

Yeah Diego u take Ray and Paul over KG and give me KG and another certified All Star and I bet we D yall up.If KG locked down Kobe and Bron from driving the lane what the hell is Pierce gonna do.Everybody mad because KG talk shit, but if you truly watch ball he do the same shit every night since Minny. The shit aint new so I dont know why yall act like it is.And the shit can lead to a chip as we all seen.

@Drink the Haterade
I agree. People are talking shit that PP is up there with Lebron and Kobe. *yawn* Bron steamrolled Detroit solo in the playoffs 2 years ago, without any help. Pierce isn’t even close to being on the same level.
I still have alot of respect for Ray Allen, but Garnett/PP can blow me.

I am tired of KG getting away with moving screens on most of his screens. He isn’t opening up to roll to the basket. He is gaining an unfair advantage for the offense.
