What Happened To Our Beloved Suns?
AmareAre we seeing the same Suns’ team that the basketball world has been in love with for the last five years? Thanks to the folks over at Ben’s Phoenix Suns’ Blog, we came across the stat that the Suns are basically producing at the same level that they did during the D’Antoni era on offense while also being significantly better defensively.
But seriously, does this feel like the same, exciting Suns team? In a word, no. With Shaq getting nine touches about six minutes into the first quarter, there’d be no way for them to feel like the same team. (That’s not meant to continue the under-appreciation of the Diesel.)
These guys still get out and run when they can, but it’s not the same. Even if this group continues to have one of the best win/loss records in the League, they’re just not as much fun.
Are you bored by the new-look Suns?

Still fun to watch Nash get into the paint then looking for a foul when he turns the ball over. The Warriors are the new Suns..they are fun to watch no matter how many losses they have. Their lineups are fun to see

about damn time they played D. mike d antoni’s coaching style is fun to watch and it had the whole league following suit, but ‘defense wins championships bitches.’
i have a feeling that kerr wants them to play ala san antonio- can run or play halfcourt, but plays D all the time.

Meh. The Warriors won’t be like the Suns, because they don’t have a PG like Nash. Hell, they don’t have a PG at all.

Winning is always fun to watch.
I dont remember people in San Antonio complaining every time the nocked the Suns out of the playoffs about how boring the games were.
And there is nothing boring about Amare dropping 51 points on his opponents.

Still fun to watch Nash and Amare play together, and it’s still fun to see what Shaq’s still got when he plays a good game. But it’s true: much of the excitement is gone. I remember watching a game with a friend who doesn’t like basketball and her saying at the end, “they are a perfect team.” Nobody would feel that way after watching them now . . . but I’ll still watch.

I still watch them and enjoy their better moments, but it was exhilarating to watch them at Nash and D’Antoni’s peak. Even when they lost in the playoffs in previous years, it was entertaining. Getting Shaq was the beginning of the end, and the magic is gone this year.
If they keep winning, I’m sure Suns diehards could care less.

the suns team that was the most fun team to watch but the most likely to get bounced in the first round is gone. d’antoni took his show to the big apple.

Ha, Nash didn’t do anything that anyone else wasn’t already doing. T-Mac’s the one that randomly decided it was time to hit someone.

@nola: you’re joking right? Nash should have been T’ed up for jawing at Alston (and he did), but T-Mac did the big time pussy push to the face and took Nash down to the ground. Nice to see him having a great game, but he should have been ejected.

Fuck that… Skip was pussy for sneaking those kangaroo uppercuts in on Nash. (check the replays, I can’t believe no one’s calling it out). He didn’t do shit to Matt Barnes… The dude that had just lit’em up like Maurice Jones-Drew did Shawn Merriman. Skips a SUCKA for that shit. I see Mardy Collins giving Nash a call tonight. HA!

A big lump of shit named Shaq ruined the Suns fast paced play.
But I dunno, they never won anything in the playoffs with D’Antoni, I guess if boring translates to winning, that’s alright with me.

I don’t think the team is making the best use of their talents right now. I don’t like seeing Amare having stretches where he’s hardly touching the ball. Nash is being limited too.
Coaching is an issue right now in Phoenix. It’s early and a new system, maybe it picks up, maybe it doesn’t. Worrying though.
