When I saw Kevin Garnett waving his finger at Jose Calderon the other night, it made me miss Dikembe Mutombo. When I saw the following video, I almost hopped on a plane to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

isnt he going back to houston later in the season?
I think at a certain date some money comes of Houston’s books and they will have space to sign Deke and not pay the dreaded luxury tax.
at least thats what I read somewhere.
Is there any truth to that Dime?

Deke was my favorite player back in his Nuggets days. Such a force in the paint…and a class act. I think I still got his Upperdeck draft card somewheres.

Great vid… someone MUST sign him, he can still reign as the oldest baller in the NBA if he does and almost guarantees one block per night, no matter how much play time

I love Deke. Not sure why the Heat haven’t jumped out of a tinted-window car, sapped him over the head, and stuffed him in the trunk.

Deke is likely to re-join the Rockets later this season. They’re waiting because it allows them to lower their luxury tax bill, and possibly get under the tax if they make a trade.
You also have to wonder how much Deke wanted to do the training camp thing at his age and experience.
Rockets badly need him. They should have signed him before training camp. I don’t like these mid season signings.

@craig990
There is truth to this. Word out of H-Town is that they’ll sign him before the playoffs and/or if Yao ever gets hurt.

Gerard says:
Yeah the Rockets beat writer Fran Blinebury said that it might be sooner than we think last week, so hopefully soon….we need him. Also, did y’all peep this? STAT was talking some noise after his 11 point outing against the Rockets frontcourt:
“Even after the Rockets kept Suns leading scorer Amare Stoudemire in check on Wednesday, holding him to 5-of-13 shooting and 11 points, Stoudemire was unimpressed.
“You got Luis Scola, Chuck Hayes, Carl Landry,” Stoudemire said. “Scola, it’s his second year in the league. Chuck Hayes and Carl Landry, they’re OK players but I definitely need to dominate those guys early — anytime. Nothing against them, they played well. But just from a fact of wanting to dominate and wanting to take over the ball game, that’s what I wanted to do. Wasn’t quite able to do it.”"
