Stephen Jackson Got Paid

The Warriors have reportedly re-signed Stephen Jackson to a three-year $28 million deal.

We’ve always heard that his teammates love him, so in terms of morale on a team that has been a mess since the summer, this would be a good signing. S-Jack has some miles on him though - what’s he going to look like four years from now?

Also, you have to wonder about who called the shots on this one.

7 million per year seems like a helluva deal for the Warriors

  2. dagwaller says:

Agreed, BEdger. But since he’ll be 34 when this contract runs out, I look at it like 10 mil this year, then 8 mil next year, then 6, then 4. Still a good deal, but how many old players could we list where we’re like, “Wow, he’s putting up 6 and 2 this year…and he’s getting paid 10 million.”

rick kamla KILLED kevin durant on the fantasy insider show on NBA tv…he got me weak

  4. MSkittle says:

Only $7 mil a year? Isn’t that kind of low nowadays?

  5. mike says:

jason kapono is getting 5.7 mill this year and it is going up, Sjack is only worth 1.5 mill more than Kapono??

    Steal.

  6. Jay says:

$28 mill for 4 years is an excellent deal for the Warriors. Surprising they couldnt lock him up much earlier if thats all he was looking for after all that complaining.

And considering he’s consistently played over 70 games a year over his career, he’s in in good position to play at a decent level into his 30s.

Captain Jack got jacked by the Warriors

  8. JCARR says:

Captain Jack has proven himself to the Warriors organization. Although at only 7 million a year and VIP pass to the local strip clubs i am sure he is happy.

  9. Aron says:

I’m glad you guys beat me to it. This deal is ridiculous. It basically says that Stephen Jackson doesn’t care about money. After spending big money on Monta, Andris and Corey, they get high value for low dollar here with Jack-1.

  10. andrew loves bball says:

this deal seems kinda low for stephen. i mean he’s not an all star but $28 mil for four years. doesnt he know we’re in a recession. your agent better do a better job and get you paid bruh!!

  11. that's whats up says:

he was so happy he whipped out his gun and started firing up in the air!!!

  12. Joaquin says:

isnt 28million over 3 years equals 9million plus a year? or am i missing something? does he have an option to extend?

  13. Brown says:

Joaquin is right, it’s $28 million over THREE years, not four, which works out to $9.66 million annually. I’d say that’s a fair price.

  14. TD says:

Terrible signing, he takes terrible shots, and they signed maggette and azuibuke. Why not save that money and get a player they need, rather than a guy who loves to shoot 3’s but hits less than 34% for his career. The warrios are hella dumb

  15. Dave says:

Bad signing - mainly because Jacks’ new contract now stops the Warriors from having enough cap space to sign a max contract free agent in 2010.

Does anyone think they have a title winning side right now? How do they take that next step?

Unfortunately Jackson’s contract has gotten in the way. They’re now paying Monta-Jack-Maggette-Biedrins $40mil a year for the next five years.
