Malcolm Lee at McDonald’s All-American GameWe’re just hours away from the 2K Sports Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer, a source of much excitement around the Dime office - and it’s got us debating.
Who is going to be the best NBA player among the crop at Coaches vs. Cancer?
Though you’ve heard names like Darren Collison and Jrue Holiday from the Bruins, and Kyle Singler and Nolan Smith from the Blue Devils, there are two other prospects playing tonight who could be the best NBA talents.
Michigan’s Manny Harris is a 6-5 athlete who has no problem throwing his body around to get to the free throw line. As he continues to grow into his frame, Harris could be one of the most dangerous scorers in the nation. Unlike last year’s Big Ten sensation Eric Gordon, Harris doesn’t rely on his jumper to get buckets. That means that he won’t have too many off nights.
My other choice is UCLA’s Malcolm Lee. He isn’t as highly touted a prospect as Holiday out of high school, but his game translates even better to the next level. Where Holiday succeeds because he can bully some guards on this level, Lee’s game is all about quick, explosive moves and a jumper that’s good from anywhere.
If I could build my team around anyone playing tonight, it’d be Lee.
At 7 PM tonight, head over to ESPN2 to catch Duke take on Southern Illinois and then UCLA against Michigan.
