The Knicks/Clippers Trade Might Not Go Through
I thought that Austin was dead right last night when he e-mailed that “Zach [Randolph] can’t play because not everyone involved in the trade has taken their physicals yet. I GUARANTEE it’s that lazy f***** Tim Thomas. Just get to the doctor and let Z-Bo commence to putting up the numbers you never could in L.A.”
Though a great hypothesis, it turns out that the reason that no one involved in that trade has suited up is because of Cuttino Mobley. Supposedly, the Knicks are concerned with Mobley’s heart – an issue that surfaced back when the Rockets tested him. However, his condition didn’t stop them from giving him a six-year $31 million deal.
“[A] source said that the Knicks raised the concerns about Mobley and have yet to sign off on the deal as a result.
“He’s never had any issue with us,” said Mike Dunleavy, Sr. “There’s never been one time that he’s missed a practice, missed a game or from any physical of any kind has any issues so I don’t really know. From the standpoint of all of our guys and all of their medicals, there hasn’t been any issues for us. I’ve been told by our doctors that the things of concern is not something that we haven’t known about or had any issues with.”
If the Knicks aren’t satisfied with Mobley’s physical, they could hold this trade up – or possibly veto it. There’s really not much good that could come out of this trade for New York, so why wouldn’t they hold it up?

If they wanted to trade for a player with a heart problem, why not Dirk?

if dime wanted a really obvious statement that doesn’t actually make any sense, they would’ve called ashlov.

I think the Knicks realised moving Zach right now was a mistake.. so they’re jsut going to end up vetoing the trade and let zach keep posting monster numbers and get something better in return near the deadline

Bondzai says:
They only wanted him for his expiring contract anyway. If he’s not healthy just sit him until his contract runs out. That sounds like a logical Knick move.

I was going to say the something as Bondzai. Mobley is only an expiring contract to the Knicks but I suppose they still wanted to use him a little since D’Antoni is only using a 7 man rotation right now. But then again D’Antoni has always only used a 7 man rotation.

The Knicks are worried that Cat Mobley’s heart isn’t fit to ride the bench for 2 years and have his contract expire for the 2010 free agent class.

So true JCARR…
They are deplorable…
Dunleavy is an stubborn mess of a coach, because he will never get the talent that he does have on his team to gel without Baron buying in. Calling majority of the plays from the side line to a vet like this is college is retarded. Majority of LA’s better plays come off of broken plays. Plays that are broken, because they are called from the sideline. Get with the Read and React style of game. You have Vets on the floor with talented young cats. Let them play and I bet the energy starts to show…
Knicks are producing better results, but the top of the organizations are what win Chips…This petty stuff with Marbury and having Jerome James and Curry on the same roster collecting checks is going to continue holding them back.

I think the Knick may have heard a better offer for Zach and are looking for the best way to reneg on this trade without having to sacrifice any hits on their books…

Two words:
Buyer’s Remorse.
It’s ironic that they are hesitating on trading a guy with 30% body fat to receive a guy who MIGHT have a bad heart…if anyone is close to having a heart attack in the league, it’s Fat Zach.

Agree with Bondzai,
There is no way in hell the Knicks rescind this trade. They could care less if Mobley ever plays a game for them.
The decision is all in the knicks hands and I can’t imagine a scenario where they take back Zach’s big contract.
