The Rumored Gerald Wallace Three-Team Trade
If this is the trade that is about to go through, Chris Mullin should have a street named after him in the Bay Area, and Donnie Walsh should be fired. As we reported this morning, multiple League sources confirmed that the Bobcats are on the verge of dealing Gerald Wallace, but we didn’t know where and for whom.
Here’s the proposed trade:
* Charlotte gives up Gerald Wallace, who goes to Golden State.
* Golden State gives up Al Harrington and Marco Belinelli, who go to New York.
* New York gives up Eddy Curry and David Lee, who go to Charlotte.
First of all, if the Warriors get Wallace in exchange for a disgruntled Harrington and a bench player who doesn’t see the floor, they’re getting away with highway robbery.
If the Knicks get rid of David Lee - even if he’s helping to usher Curry out of town - without getting something better than Al Harrington, they’re in bigger trouble than they realize. Lee is ideal for Mike D’Antoni’s system as a big man who runs the floor and does a great job on the glass. Even if Harrington is a good three-point shooter, he doesn’t rebound at all.
What do you think of this trade?

Pfft, why would Charlotte get rid of Gerald? Stupid.

as a diehard gs warrior fan, please, please, do not publish things like this. it’ll only bring my hopes up only to be crushed when it doesn’t go through. wallace in nelson’s system as a 4? pure bliss. nelson’s defensive approach is steals and ball deflections. he’ll be the prototype.

Charlotte and NY both get a bad deal. But, NY comes out good on cap future.
Charlotte….Lee is just a good player who looks like a star in D’Antoni’s system.

vinny says:
ok correct me if I’m wrong but i thought lee isnt perfect for mike’s system. He cant shoot past 3 feet. He doesnt defend very well either.
the thing that concerns me is that harrington isnt a big rebounder(ok i admit i’m a knick fan-its been a long 35 years!!) Belinelli was the 17th pick in the draft last year- just because nelson doesnt like him doesnt mean he cant play-he can damm sure shoot. It works for cap purposes for the knicks also- another contract that expires in 2010.
Is Gerald Wallace really that good?

Ashlov says:
Charlotte is high. New York, while getting ridding of Lee, get out from under Curry’s satanic contract, and ready themselves for the 2010 orgy.
Golden State gets away with murder, period.

As much as I respect Al Harrington’s game, I have to agree with AK’s assessment. Even though he’s not a great shooter, Lee is essential on a team full of streaky shooters.

George W Kush Sr says:
WTF
If this is true, Walsh is slowly proving himself to be as big a dumbass as Thomas. What is it with these Pacers execs?
If they get rid of Lee for Harrington they are morons.

I don’t get too see GWal’s game too often, but from what I’ve seen and heard, he’s great. Whoever picks him up is a winner.
But Charlotte getting Lee and Curry… for some reason, I picture their roster to be really… big.

Vinny, when he’s not getting his head concussed, Gerald Wallace is as good as advertised.

Max says:
Only GS makes out good in this deal. Lee isn’t as essential to D’Antoni’s system as people think (even the garbage/defensive guys in his system still have to be able to make a jump shot), but “gaining” Harrington would worsen the club. It’s all about cap space for the Knicks at this point.

'Cats fan says:
I see GDub (aka Crash) play a lot and he is hard to assess b/c of his style of play. In Don Nelson’s system you must possess an adequate jumper, am I correct? That’s the biggest glare in Crash’s game. If Nelly can deal with that aspect of Crash’s game he will be ok. If not, my prayers are w/ you Warrior fans. His stats would ultimately fall some w/ GS but I can see him helping any team in the league. I always questioned whether he was a starter or not…

Jesus, what a career Curry has had.
I remember when he came into the league with Chandler and they were the “Baby Bulls” and future twin towers for Chicago.
Now Chandler is a solid or even all-star caliber center while Curry is a joke. Was it really so long ago that Curry looked like a monster for the Bulls before the heart condition thing, and Chandler was dumped to the Hornets because he looked like a foul-prone stiff?

Lady Luck says:
I don’t think you can trade any former Knicks to Larry Brown. Larry would bust a blood vessel dealing with Curry again. If he benched Antoine Walker and Sean May for conditioning issues, what would he do to Curry? And you lose your best player to get this???? That doesn’t make sense.

Buffalo Brave says:
Charlotte could improve cause those guys WILL help okafor down low and they have some perimeter talent
I dont think it makes GS any better or worse at the moment, but marco is NEVER getting off that bench (not sure why) and al HAS to go
As far as new york is concerned, im positive that harrington and marco will get EPIC buckets playing for d’antoni but unless the knicks drop 140 a night they’re not beating ANYBODY
Love to see it happen though lol

Cagey3 says:
I don’t think Wallace can help the Warriors because there’s only one ball to go around. Give the 4 spot to B Wright and A Randolph and they’ll be fine for the future.
What’s the point of getting Wallace, losing to the Lakers in the first round, and eating up valuable minutes? Those two will be back on the bench if the wallace trade goes through.
