The Ten Weakest NBA Players

Shaun LivingstonSorry, Shaun…

Strength is not all about how much you can put up on a bench press. But everyone on our list of the Top Ten Strongest Guys in the League can put up serious weight. According to Ben Wallace, who asked me how much I could bench in the Cavs’ locker room in New Jersey the other day, 225 lbs. is “child’s play.”

If that’s the case, I wonder what he’d say about Kevin Durant when he first came into the League, not being able to put up 185 lbs. on the bench at least once. Big Ben would probably call him one of the ten weakest players in the NBA. And Durant makes that list for us too. Here are the other nine guys:

* T.J. Ford
* Travis Diener
* Steve Blake
* Shaun Livingston
* Anthony Randolph
* Steve Nash
* Kevin Martin
* Kirk Hinrich
* Nicolas Batum

Who are the ten weakest guys in the NBA?

  1. Dark says:

    That’s a mistake. You should ask how much of their body weight, in terms of percentage, they can bench.

  2. Mark says:

    Lebron….hes been in every other list so might aswell put him in this one

  3. rodnets says:

    E. Curry Jerome James, light as feathers.

    Seriously

    Steve Nash Backup (Something Dragic, he looks like a kid)
    Luke Ridnour
    Mikki Moore
    Harrison (Indiana)
    Kevin Durant

    Historical
    Manute Bol

  4. smity far away says:

    @ rodnets

    harrison aint even on indiana. he in the c(chinese)ba now…too weak (skill wise) for the league…

  5. smity far away says:

    also, the caption under the picture is funny

  6. smity far away says:

    has he (livingston) seen anytime this year yet? everytime i look i see dnp-cds. still a long road back but he on the right track

  7. mavid says:

    Oh cmon, gotta put Luke Ridnour there. Hinrich is rolling his eyes at that one!

  8. Mr. K1X says:

    i agree with all 10, just shows how lazy these dudes are, they could making millions more by just working on thier bodies. (except for k-mart that just got paid)

    btw, kerry kittles was the same wieght/frame and was strong as hell

  9. Mr. K1X says:

    damn!!, my bad i just looked at the list again and all those guys are paid, haha

    why would u invest millions in a dude who cant get 185lbs. off his chest??

  10. Kobeef says:

    Mike Dunleavy looks like a wuss
    Kevin Durant has girly arms
    Yao’s arms are very weak…like his game
    JJ Redick would get beat-up by most WNBA players
    Manu G.
    Andris Biendrins

  11. M Intellect says:

    I swear you said Steve Nash was surprisingly holding it down in the post against some Big Dude the other day.

    How your forgetting Chris Quinn and Tayshaun Prince, I don’t know…

  12. MSkittle says:

    You guys are way off! Nash has that “Stockton-like” study strength and TJ Ford does too!

  13. vinny says:

    I dont know how much they bench press but 2 guys who always seem to get puched around are pau gasol and jamal crawford!
    dime the post is reporting that al harrington is going to the knicks for malik rose( more money on the cap for the knicks!)

  14. jsul says:

    brandon wright and patrick obryant for sure, and def replace Hinrich with ridnour who also couldn’t throw up 185 on draft night, lots of other weak guys to consider, insert your favorite European draft pick here _________

  15. MoxWestCoastRep says:

    If JaVale McGee could bench the bar, I would be shocked.

  16. GayforRudy says:

    Hmm… what a shock… a bunch of white guys on Andy’s list.

    Where is Yao… the definition of weak / soft?

    Shawn Bradley was a big nancy-boy too

  17. CJ says:

    i agree with MSkittle, nash is a fitness freak and has crazy core strength like stockton did. TJ, i’m not so sure of. strong for a little guy? maybe, but definately not durable.

    i’d put conley on that list. jamario can jump, but doesn’t have a lot of meat on his bones either.

  18. A-Slam says:

    i agree with the other guys take nash off that list he’s way stronger than many think, also @ cj, in the pre-draft work-out camps didn’t conley bench the 185 20 times?

  19. Marc Stein says:

    DIME does it again… Steve Nash btw is stronger than you guys think, there’s a reason why he’s not always posted up!

    DIME FAIL

  20. Flip says:

    @ kobeef: Whats the reason for your xenophobia??

  21. haslem says:

    yea, I dunno about Nash, he’s pretty athletic

  22. Marc Stein says:

    A-Slam THANK YOU

    I was watching a segment on NBA TV one time and they even validated that Steve puts in a good amount of time in the gym and quite possibly may have the best balance of anyone on Phoenix (in terms of his core)

    I know this is an opinionated column but does DIME even stop to think what the definition of Strength is? or may mean as a basketball player?

    You do the math Dime, I’m sure you guys ball… benching X amount of weights doesn’t necessarily equate you to be tough on the court!

    Aggression far exceeds Strength in basketball

  23. FK in T-Oh says:

    Roko Ukic.

    Dude looks like Durant could press him like 8-10 times.

  24. Ross says:

    Why is this relevant?

  25. control says:

    Come on guys, Steve Nash?

    He’s stronger than most point guards, you’d have to put Tony Parker, Allen Iverson, Rafer Alston, etc on the list before him.

  26. Bruce says:

    Who is the Next Ameichi or what his name is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  27. QQ says:

    Rip Hamilton is weak as shit…

  28. Aron says:

    T.J. Ford is a low blow…

  29. qUeSt??? says:

    what about corey brewer?

  30. Chaos says:

    Brandon Wright, Lamarcus Aldridge, Corey Brewer are all frail. brandan wright was embarrassing at the combine

  31. BEdger says:

    so let’s recap, you have Batum and Blake as 2 of the weakest guys in the league, but no Oden on the strongest guys in the league….a little Blazer bias anyone?

  32. max says:

    doesn’t TJ Ford squat 400?

  33. johnsacrimoni says:

    Corey Brewer and Rip Hamilton should have made the list. I don’t know about Hinrich, isn’t he kind of ripped?

  34. Diego says:

    Yeah, Hinrich looks like he has some muscle on his bones. Not every thin guy is weak. The impressive guys in the weight room are those that look normal or lean, but shock you at the bench. The worst are the big, formless lugs who can’t lift diddly (maybe Curry, Jerome James, the big nut who used to be with Indiana, etc.). Those types are just pathetic.

  35. Diego says:

    I’d bet Blake is stronger than he looks too. It does not take a whole lot of bulk to put up 225 at least once.

  36. r2q says:

    How do you measure weak? by appearance? do you guys even play real ball? nash wouldn’t be MVP if he’s weak. Try blitzing through several NBA bangers and getting your pass across your teammate. He’s been doing it for almost 4 years. And i’m really sorry, but Tayshaun? Dude looks scrawny but have you seen him chase and block after guys? If he’s weak then he couldn’t have blocked those guys because of all the momentum…

  37. Rob1 says:

    Seriously? you should not judge a book by its cover….

    TJ is beyond ripped and probably has the strongest core in the L. Blake looks like a twerp but his off season is pent doing ultimate fighting training and Nasty Nash is much stronger than he looks. Number one should be Roko Ukic, then the other Eastern European who backs up Nash, the rest I agree with but trust me those guys can bench their weight and then some.
