Gilbert Arenas vs. DeShawn Stevenson Three-Point Contest
I miss GilHonestly, I miss these Wizards. This video, in which Gilbert and DeShawn go head-to-head for 100 three’s in February of ’07, reminds me of the competitive spirit that Gil brings to the Wiz. That, and as Arenas hits something like 73 of his attempts with one hand, it’s a pretty good reminder of just how good he is.
Notice that DeShawn lets Gil shoot in peace for the most part, but as it gets close, Arenas is basically writhing on the ground like a cockroach to try to get DeShawn to miss.
The funny thing is at this point last year, the Wizards were also 0-5. They then rattled off six straight wins. Could you imagine this team doing the same?

Wizards are the worst team in the League this year. Worse than Memphis, OKC, Minny, all of ‘em.
They miss Gilbert, yeah, but they have no urgency for a team that can’t afford to be lax, a team that keeps losing in the 1st round. They’re not even gonna get there this year.
And they need Brendan Haywood more than a lotta people thought.

Also notice that Gil is shooting college 3′s for the most part and Deshawn shoots nba 3′s.

Despite the above comments, its a great clip. From a shooting point of view, firstly its great to see Gilbert’s form is so good he can rattle off that many with just one hand. Whether he’s shooting from 19 feet or 22 feet I don’t think it matters. Secondly, the focus from DeShawn to ignore Gilbert and just concentrate on the rim and his own form is also a good lesson for the kids out there.

Dodge,
I’m with you man. Think about this – at that point, Gilbert was right in the middle of his injury, he couldn’t really get off the ground and jump. So he’s knocking down 73 NBA three’s without doing much more than rising off of his toes.
