Where Are You Fred Jones?
After watching the Knicks defeat the previously undefeated Jazz this afternoon, it got me thinking: Where is Fred Jones? Last year, the former University of Oregon star played 70 games for New York (starting 26 of them) and was a valuable contributer.
When Donnie Walsh came to town, even with his Apple Store highlight reel, the free agent didn’t get re-signed.
If you’re an NBA GM with an empty roster spot or an injury on your squad, do you sign the former slam dunk champ?

I’ve heard a number of things happen to Freddy boy. The last I heard he was practicing with his high school team, Stephon took that page out of Freddy’s book. He is also a side show at a circus in London. They call him the Flyin’ Freddy as he tries to mimic his slam dunks from his championship year.

Maybe the Spurs could use him while Parker is down. I can’t see the Spurs being happy if they have to play Jacque Vaughn or George Hill 30+ minutes. Someone should pick him up soon. He is capable of being a 15 point sparkplug off the bench. I like him better than Dahntay Jones, and he Jones actually STARTS for the Nuggets.

Fred Jones is a solid guard. He can defend, can take the ball to the hoop, and has an average shot. I have no idea how he is not signed. So many teams could use a player like him off the bench.
