Will the Nets ever play in Brooklyn?
In the past, whenever the Cavs and Nets have played each other the media goes bananas with stories about LeBron signing with the Brooklyn Nets. The two teams face each other tonight and there was a small mention of LBJ and the Nets in the NY Post today but nothing like the past. The big reason for this? It isn’t even clear the Nets will ever move to Brooklyn.
Not only has Bruce Ratner (Nets owner) rumored to have explored selling the team (a rumor he has denied), the construction of the Barclay’s Center still hasn’t started. The only good news is that Barclays’ could have opted out of their naming rights contract (and the 400 million along with it) at the end of this month but have reaffirmed their support for the contract in the form of an extension (meaning they can still execute their out clause).
So by way of www.brownstoner.com we found www.atlanticyardsdeathwatch.com a site dedicated, with countdown and all to the end of the Atlantic Yards development, the Barclay’s Center, and most likely the Brooklyn Nets.
So here we go:
Where will the Nets end up?
What are the chances that LeBron James is ever a Net?

Because they’re not going to Brooklyn, they’re going to Seattle (ok, probably not).

Kobeef says:
If the nets don’t go to Brooklyn Lebron doesn’t go to the nets. It is as simple as that.
Lebron needs to earn about $25 Million more than he can earn in Cleveland through endorsements to make the figures work in Brooklyn. It is reasonable in NY but not if he is in NJ.

I read an article not to long ago that mentioned that because of the economy and expected recession which should last into most of the next year that they were having a hard time getting the green light on that development which includes the Barclays Center
Having said that who knows when they will even put the first shovel in the ground and begin construction,
Id love to see LeBron as a Net in Brooklyn, it would be great for the NBA and New York,
There is ALOT that needs to happen for the team to even get to Brooklyn before LeBron can become a Net there, I do hope it happens though,

I for one am glad that this project may be dying (though this wasn’t exactly ‘new’ news). Bruce the Rat and that corrupt Markowitz abused eminent domain to sieze land and homes for a project that’s going to turn our part of BK into a Manhattan lookalike. We don’t want more traffic and more high rises in our area. We don’t want more filth. We don’t want the already ridiculous cost of living down here to price out the actual Brooklynite of our neighborhoods even more than it already has. I love ball just as much as any other NYer but the trade off isn’t worth it.

JCARR says:
Nets will hopefully be in Jersey. too many NY teams, one that should be practically considered NJ Giants. but what ever…
Nets got rid of a lot of cash and have a developing roster(Harris, Lopez, Yi,) and a fading star in Carter that could intrigue lebron. only time will tell.
