Would You Boo Shaq?
The Diesel (Photo. Chenoa Maxwell)Tonight when the Suns visit the Heat, it will mark the first time The Diesel has returned Miami since he was dealt to Phoenix last February.
If you remember, there were definitely some bad feelings on both sides as Shaq made his way out - the team and fans in Miami didn’t think O’Neal was giving it his all and after the trade was done, Shaq was quoted as saying, in Phoenix, “no one is asking me to play with Ricky Davis or Chris Quinn” - something we rightfully killed him for.
For his part, Shaq told the Sun-Sentinel that he expects some boos tonight and this:
“I like getting booed. Boo me. Can’t hurt my feelings. My feelings don’t get hurt, because I don’t have any feelings.”
Does Shaq deserved to get booed by Miami fans tonight?

Why can’t Shaq ever leave anywhere peacefully?? Has he ever left a team without bad feelings.

Hell yeah. He wanted out of Miami when things went bad. Then he talked shit about Pat Riley after Pat tried to grant his wish of going to a contender. Shaq dose not get enough blaim for anything.

ian says:
well shaq was right about ricky davis
that douche was a terible heat player and then left a year later
he shouldnt of said anything about quinn granted, yet form his point of view the 06 champ team had basically all gone, riley let kapono go and posey go then traded twan to get the useless davis and the useless blount
and with wade playing terrible basically all last year and shaq himself having some real nasty injuries which affected his performance i can see why he was in such a down mood about his last half a season in miami

if I was a heat fan I would b/c of the trash he talked after… I mean he didn’t need to insult ricky davis like that (not that im defending him i mean every team he touches goes to shit) b/c i think as fans we expect more outta him than to sink that low to insult and alienate the rest of the heat at the time.
I felt bad for him b/c he was gettin blamed for everything when the heat were shit so i guess this is payback but he shouldnt have taken it out the team but on management (which he did too)

Ashlov says:
The problem with Shaq is the “Demolition Man” effect he has whenever he leaves a team. He can’t just walk away and be mature about it. I won’t be surprised if he talks shit about the Suns whenever he becomes a free agent in 2010.
Would I boo him? I wouldn’t waste my time giving him any kind of attention. At least he wasn’t stupid enough to insult Wade. He has him to thank for his fourth ring, period.

Prof. TX says:
Is there any team that would take him back now? None of his former teams would want him, and for a guy with his accomplishments that says something. Most guys with his place in the record books could at least get a farewell tour for one year in front of the fans, but not him.

@ dmitry of jersey: (I hope you’re still here for this response, but if not whatever)
You ALSO don’t blast your teammates that helped you get a championship, which is what Shaq has done his whole career. Yes he deserves to get booed, especially since one minute he’s skipping practice and games because of “injury” with the Heat, and the next he’s diving on the floor for loose balls with the Suns.

And at Ashlov…
if you remember, he actually DID end up insulting Wade through a couple comments he made on his way out.

@ FED… that is some crazy stuff. People need to calm the fuck down. Wal Mart ain’t going anywhere, have some consideration.
and no you don’t boo shaq. What does it accomplish? U think diesel’s gonna wipe a tear from his eye, a-la Darryl Strawberry in the Simpsons.
Trust me as a raps fan, holding a grudge against an old fan favourite only ends up having bad results…

Smackdown says:
I’d hardly boo the guy who helped you win probably the only championship your horrid franchise will ever win. Dwayne Wade is amazing, but Pat Riley is the worst judge of talent I’ve ever seen! Outside of wade (luck) and Shaq (no brainer) he hasn’t made one good move. He’s in love with Udonis Haslem and refuses to trade him for a legit PG or Center, even though he plays the same position as Beasley. He brings in guy after guy that we all know are garbage mark blount, j-will, ricky bucket head, antoine fats walker. This is the guy who offered Juwan Howard a max deal!
As for Shaq himself, Phil Jackson said it best it all comes down to money. I’m the biggest Shaq fan in the world, but he is defintely a business man (greedy) and that is why things go badly. You pay someone 20/30 MM a year and they don’t at least contend for a championship and things are going to sour fast. And if Shaq would be willing to play for the exemption after his contract expires as a role player like he is doing in PHX all of his former teams (or any team for in the league for that matter) including the lakers would take him in a heart beat!

First of all I will boo him when the time comes (No one down talks Quinny and gets away with it) but this is article isn’t really relevant because as Brandon said the Heat are visiting Phoenix so the question is would you boo Shawn Marion.
November 28th, 2008 at 3:29 pm

This is the first time Marion visits Phoenix since the trade, not the first time Shaq visits Miami.

@ northern lights
lmao at that Darryl Strawberry reference
@ Smackdown
First of all, the Heat as a franchise is far from horrid when you take into account that they have made the playoffs 12 times in their 21 years of exisistence. And second of all you’re way off base in criticizing Pat Riley’s talent evaluation as well. I really don’t see how drafting Dwyane Wade was “lucky” just because he was relativley unheralded and MOST people didn’t think he’d become what he is now doesn’t mean that Pat Riley didn’t see it.

Justin Solomon says:
Shaq always deserves to get booed. While he is a so-called “dominate” player, he acts like an ass and has little basketball skill. Size is everything for him. Who as ever seen this guy hit an 15 foot J? Does he even have a jumpshot form? People who appreciate basketball for the great game that it is should always root against Shaq. He truly is a detriment to the game.

@Kermit
Guess I missed something. I do recall him stating something along the lines of Nash being the best guard he’s ever played with, which I thought was silly. Nash is great, but both Kobe and Wade are better.
Kudos to Wade for taking the high road in the end, then.

QQ says:
I would boo him. Not for his game (he brought a championship to Miami, I won’t hate on that), but for being an UNGRATEFUL PIECE OF HORSE SHIT to the team who treated him with nothing but respect. Everyone knows Wade’s is the best Heat player but his teammates are still saying that Shaq is focal point, all the good stuff like that. They’re telling the media he’s still the best center in the east, when he can’t even outrun Bill Walton circa 2006. Then when he was traded, he would go out and talk shit to his teammates. Who would fucking respect that kind of immaturity?
Someday, we will hear Shaq tell the media that Nash is a douche and Amare can’t defend anyone. And someday, people will say… I TOLD YOU SO.

I would boo him from an extremely far distance so i dont get thrown around like TMAC. this guy finger is the size of my face.
He’s a legendary sports figure wheter we like it or not. He deserves to be booed when he does stupid stuff like rapping.
