(Almost) Daily Fantasy – 12.14

Dirk Nowitzki (photo. Monte Isom)

Have some Dirk. 46 points, 2 threes, 8 boards, 4 dimes and 2 blocks. MVP of the weekend.

The Knicks – I’m personally playing against Lee, Harrington, and Chandler this week. That’s not good. Lee went for 17 and 19 and Harrington has been absurd this week. He went for 33 points last night including 5 threes.

Nate Robinson – He looked very healthy going for 18 points in 37 minutes. He looks like a safe starter next week.

T-Mac – So McGrady rests about a week and comes back with two nice back-to-back performances? I’m as confused as you are. Maybe it’s his new beard that’s magically healed his knee. Is that what Dr. James Andrews prescribed?

The Clippers – All five starters (Randolph, Thorton, Camby, Eric Gordon, and Baron) played huge minutes and all put up stats. The bench only scored 4 points. The Clippers seem poised to put up real numbers. Camby owners should keep the Kaman return in the back of the head.

Marcin Gortat – We’ve actually heard good things about Gortat. With Dwight resting a sore knee, Gortat started and gave them a nice defensive presence with 4 blocks. He did only score 4 points in 30 minutes.

Boris Diaw – In 27 minutes last night for the Bobcats, Diaw showed serious fantasy potential. Diaw only had 7 points but showed shades of the past with 9 boards and 5 dimes. He’s going to have real value in Charlotte and looks like he is startable next week.

DJ Augustin – DJ leads a weak Charlotte bench but right now he’s more of a spark scorer than a playmaker. He’s coming into the game and seems to have the mandate to shoot often. Last night he had 18 points in 25 minutes but only 2 assists.

Rodney Stuckey – I loved how Stuckey looked last night. He had 13 points and 10 assists and was in control of the game. He looked more like a point guard than I had ever seen him look. That’s fantastic for his fantasy value.

Charlie Villanueva – I might be a slight Chuck V hater but he wouldn’t be so inconsistent if Skiles would commit to him. That being said, maybe the Coach’s headwork is working. After two games of 19 minutes, Villanueva now has played 30+ in three straight and last night went for 26 and 10. I don’t trust Skiles and Villanueva is clearly a better roto player than head to head.

Russell Westbrook
– The Rook has been wildly inconsistent but the Thunder are going to let the kid develop on the court and even his bad games have showed real potential for value. Westbrook has looked much more comfortable the last two games and last night had 19 points, 8 boards, and 6 dimes. He’s ownable now, a fringe starter, and going to be a big time pick in next year’s draft.

Jeff Green – It is very unclear what the long-term fantasy prognosis is for Jeff Green. Last night he dropped 25 and grabbed 6 boards but by no means do I think he’s a guaranteed starter at this point of his career.

It seems Matt Barnes nice run could be over??? Doc do you think he is a better prospect than Grant Hill… Hill looks like he will start and with J-Rich there now I’m worried about Barnes’ minutes

  2. BENNYHILL says:

    Also Doc

My league is 12 team points league and I like the look of Spencer Hawes, especially when? Brad Miller gets traded… I have offerd up Barnes for him but I doubt he will take it… Should I offer more, maybe Richard Jefferson (they are averagingthe same amount of points currently)

  3. Richard Wellner says:

dirk = beserk. MVP of season if Mavs get top 4.

  4. S-SiN says:

attention! anyone who is confused about T-Mac’s showing should himself take a week off, lay back, chill, get ur dick sucked, smoke some premium nuggets at 8.30 am, get picked up, go to 11am therapy thing, then go get massage, act like u off sauna for a minute, cuz u u know u gotta go back to the car burn one on the way home, and once there u eat smthn made for you by your chef, don’t finish the shit, burn wit yo boys, play maden 09, burn, eat some chicken and shit, get ur dick sucked and go the fuck asleep at 8.30….

  5. S-SiN says:

In a grey Mercedes, right Tracy?

  6. dmitry of jersey says:

really? what if spurs finish top 3.. then duncan is mvp. if nuggets keep winning, billups. or maybe kobe. it’s soon to be kissing dirk’s ass just now…

  7. S-SiN says:

But maybe Dime is right on this one and IT in fact IS his… brand new MAGIC KNEE-HEALING BEARD (TM)? It just has to be something!

  8. Big V says:

As well as Dirk’s been playing, I still wish he’d hit the boards a little harder, especially on the offensive end. Also, despite the fact that he’s putting up monster scoring numbers, he’s still not cashing many threes at all. In my roto league, that’s what I really drafted him for, not necessarily relying on him to shoulder the scoring load.

Oh well, it could be worse.

  9. baron von faulk says:

that picture of nowitzki in the hoody reminds of the great yogurt’s little dudes from Spaceballs but instead they are singing, “dirkdirk, dirkdirkdirk dirk, dirk, diiiirk!”

    he looks like a druid

  10. baraks says:

doc, I’ve been offered KG&Kidd for my Granger&Augustin. Should I take it? I’m thinking of offering Roger Mason and JRich for Stuckey and Troy Murphy. Hope you could help out. Thanks in advance.

  11. fLaVa says:

    doc,

what do you think of my trade.

I am trading Josh Smith, Deron Williams and Horford FOR Randolf, Al Jeff and Blake.

I am desperate in points and 3s and i needed some change because i am 8th out of 12 and Deron and Jsmith is off to a slow start after injury .

  12. Lady Luck says:

    Hey doc,

I decided against everyone’s advice and kept T-Mac. Had a feeling he might re-surface. Also this week, I dropped Travis Outlaw and picked up Monta Ellis. But then I turned around and dropped Monta because Peja went on waivers. Your thoughts on that?

    My roster:

    Rondo, JKidd, Derrick Rose
    McGrady, Stephen Jackson, Pierce
    Carmelo, Marion, Stojakovic
    Milsap, Haslem
    Nene, Spencer Hawes

Anyone on this list worth dropping to pickup Monta?

  13. fallinup says:

Hey Doc, need some advice. Where do I get one of them magic beards?

  14. Lady Luck says:

^^^^my Monta drop and Peja pickup is currently pending, but I’m first on the wire.

    @flava.

IMO, I think Deron Williams and Josh Smith will bounce back from injury to put up strong numbers. DWill is kind of underrated as he will give you pts, 3s, assists, steals, and boards. Horford had a good year last year and hopefully will get better as the season progresses. Smith gives you a crazy amt of blocks.

Randolph’s numbers may get fall back a little when Kaman comes back, and Blake isn’t going to put bigger numbers than Deron, even from 3. Jefferson is pretty consistent.

I like your guys better, but I’m not the fantasy doc.

  15. len-e says:

    yo doc.

the thought of picking up chris andersen is intriguing! he produces even in limited minutes 5-5-2.5 thats ok for me!! plus, these blocks would push me over the hump this week.

out of posey, bonner, love, blake, dalembert, who’d you drop? or should i stay with these?

    thanks for the advice

  16. len-e says:

naturally, dropping blake would leave me with losing assists and dalembert is my only real blocker – sad.

so the question is is posey still worth owning (20-10 yesterday don’t convince me) and can andersen be better than bonner in the long run?

  17. josh tha roc says:

    @bennyhill

maybe you shoulda kept him in the first place….

  18. GayforRudy says:

    Doc / All,

I’m considering making a trade now to help me with number of games played during the playoffs. CBS only shows you each players upcoming games for two weeks ahead of time. Does anyone know of a site that tells you number of games played by team through the entire season (without having to do it by hand)?
