(Almost) Daily Fantasy – 12/15

Dwight HowardIs Dwight Superman? Owners hope so.

My bad for not being more around the past week to answer your comments. I’ve been all over the map and didn’t answer enough of your roster issues. I’m back, so feel to fire away in the comments section.

Dwight Howard –
He’s questionable going into tonight’s game against and even worse, plays AT Golden State meaning we may not know his status pre-lineups. It’s a tough call. Hopefully we’ll know something by 6ish but unless you have a good back up, you might need to rock with Howard and hope he returns this week.

Rafer Alston/Aaron Brooks –
It’s been awhile since we’ve had to discuss these two. Rafer has been much improved and Brooks has been relegated to straight back up. Rafer is out Tuesday with a pulled hammy and Brooks could be a great short-term solution. You have to watch out a bit for Luther Head, but Brooks should post numbers until Skip gets back.

Andrea Bargnani – Bargnani topped off an extremely disappointing week with a dreadful 11-minute, 4-point performance. Jamario Moon is back in the lineup and it seems that it may take an injury to Bosh or JO for Bargnani to have consistent value.

Craig Smith – That’s four games in a row where Craig Smith has scored in double digits and had at least 5 boards. He seems to be McHale’s PF of choice right now over Kevin Love, who had a dud 21 minute performance. Don’t count on Smith long term, but he could give some short-term value.

Ryan Gomes – Stats aside for a second, Gomes has now played 30+ minutes in the last 5 games and 10 out of the last 11. That’s legit. The stats are just okay. In the last 7 games, Gomes is scoring 10.7 points per game and grabbing 4.7 boards. He hasn’t shot well from the field but he has hit a three a game. Summary – he’s not an awful 4th forward.

Jeff Green – In the same mold of Ryan Gomes, at the very least, Green is getting real minutes. He’s clearly streaky but you’ve seen two great games in a row. Last night Green had his best a game of the season with 33 points, 4 boards, 4 dimes, and 2 threes. One of my pet peeves with Green’s game is that he’s not getting to the line enough. On average he’s taking less than 4 free throws a game.

Russell Westbrook –
Rookies sure are fun. 2 points and 2 assists last night. I just don’t trust Westbrook this year and really wouldn’t rely on him.

Darko – I’ve said this before, if Darko gets 25 to 30 minutes, he is going to average between 7 and 10 points, around 7 boards, and at least 2 blocks a game. That makes him third center worthy. Last 5 games – 24.4 minutes, 5.6 boards, 8.8 points, and 2.4 blocks. Last night he had 13 points and 5 blocks per game. Darko is ownable, though I would not cut Marc Gasol.

Joel Anthony – Owners are always craving a center but am I really advocating picking up a center that is averaging 2.4 points per game? Nope. I’m not. He did have a nice game last night with 12 points, 13 boards, and 5 blocks. We’ll continue to watch him.

  1. Stan van Gundy says:

    yesterday:

“Russell Westbrook – The Rook has been wildly inconsistent but the Thunder are going to let the kid develop on the court and even his bad games have showed real potential for value. Westbrook has looked much more comfortable the last two games and last night had 19 points, 8 boards, and 6 dimes. He’s ownable now, a fringe starter, and going to be a big time pick in next year’s draft. ”

    today:

“Russell Westbrook – Rookies sure are fun. 2 points and 2 assists last night. I just don’t trust Westbrook this year and really wouldn’t rely on him. ”

seems like the fantasy doc is just as unreliable as russ

  2. kg fan says:

hey doc i have too many guards and not enough scoring or rebounds, should i drop jj barea or joel przybilla for thad young or jason thompson

  3. The Fantasy Doctor says:

Stan van Gundy – What part of “wildly inconsistent” differs from what i said today. I didn’t trust him yesterday and I don’t today and I won’t tomorrow. He has to prove he can be consistent. Is he ownable? Definitely. Is he startable? I wouldn’t but I’m sure some people have to and he is capable of big games.

KG Fan – Someone should own Thad Young and if you aren’t playing or relying on JJ Barea or Prybilla than you should make the move.

  4. Mad Max says:

    What’s up w Maggette?

  5. The Fantasy Doctor says:

    He’s out indefinitely

  6. N T says:

How long do you think Kevin Martin and Mike Dunleavy will be out for?

  7. The Fantasy Doctor says:

Dunleavy is a huge question mark. He’s started practicing a couple of times and for one reason or another isn’t ready to really get back to the grind. He’s supposed to start testing the knee again this week. Hopefully it goes well and he’s back in the next few weeks. Obviously there are a lot of risks.

Kevin Martin is on the Deron Williams schedule. He came back to soon and now needs additional time. He’s out this week.

  8. addy says:

With Monta rehabbing with the Warriors now, should we pick him up now. and if not now, how long should we wait
    This is my situation
I’m at the bottom of my league, thanks to rudy gay, paul pierce, allen iverson, steve nash, tyson chandler and elton brand all underperforming
to pick up monta i would drop either peja, spencer hawes, or chris duhon

  9. Mooks says:

Guy offers his Iverson and Hedo for my Jamison and Barnes… I’m tempted, especially since Barnes isn’t starting any more, but it hurts me in cats where I’m already hurting (percentages, mainly). What do you think?

  10. kg fan says:

whats the word with tyson chandler? and is posey worth pickin up or was yesterday a fluke?

  11. len-e says:

@addy! DON’T drop duhon. i drafted and dropped after 5 games. BIG MISTAKE! that 22dime game hurt as fuck.

  12. Jayo says:

    Hey Doc!
Do you think Jason Kapono is ownable? He’s been getting more burn lately & I need some 3′s. Also what about Rodney Stuckey? I’ve been using JJ Barea as my back-up point. Who would be better?

  13. The Fantasy Doctor says:

    addy – keeper league?

    Mooks – Make that deal.

kg fan – Chandler should be back this week, and i wouldn’t pick up Posey.

Jayo – Not a Kapono fan though he’s starting for the time being. Only a matter of time before Anthony Parker is back in there. I prefer Stuckey over Barea, especially for the long term.

  14. len-e says:

    yo doc!
    can you help me out?
chris andersen blks: 4-4-4 you kiddin’? who’d be worth dropping?
    (blake, love), posey, bonner

  15. Doe Dumars says:

    I desperately need steals.

Who do i drop for Ariza… Barnes, Marc Gasol, Buike?

I kinda need Buike as my only other SG besides Stuckey.. I know

  16. DoubleA says:

How about Artest? Should I roll with Haslem instead?

  17. The Fantasy Doctor says:

len-e – I hear you about Anderson but he’s really not getting minutes and doing anything else. If you’re in a roto league and straight need blocks, drop Bonner (who is actually playing great) or Posey.

Doe – If you really feel like you need to drop someone for Ariza, i’d probably go Barnes over Gasol unless you have 3 good centers. I wouldn’t want to drop either but big men are harder to find.

DoubleA – Looks like Artest will play this week. You’d much rather have Artest than Haslem.

  18. addy says:

Fantasy doc, its not a keeper league, basic cats, rotisserie style with 13 players, 8 teams, theres a lot of decent players on the free agent list available in the league, and no one is willing to take 2 or 3 players and give up one or two
    thanks

  19. The Fantasy Doctor says:

I Don’t think you can cut Spencer Hawes right now. You have to see how the new coach runs things and there is a very good chance they trade Brad Miller. Unfortunately, you may have no one to cut for Ellis.

  20. joe says:

Doc, I’m dropping T. Outlaw. Should I pick up Stojakovic or Jason Thompson?

  21. Three Stacks says:

Yo, any word on Boozer’s status? If you ever see him, can you tell him to stop being such a giant pussy and suit up?

  22. Nimit says:

ive got both Milsap and Boozer right now..milsap’s been great ever since booz went down..but with him coming back, milsap’s pretty much just another 4th forward.should i cut him and pick up dalembert?…or for that matter diaw, thad young, foye and arenas are available as well.

(Consider that ive got Zach Randolph, David West, Nene, Al Horford, Spencer Hawes, and Carlos Boozer as my big men already)

  23. The Fantasy Doctor says:

Joe – If you need threes, than Peja. If boards, than Thompson (who will probably get a ton of run with the new coach).

Three Stacks – Boozer is out at least another game or two.

  24. wilson says:

hey doc, my team is pretty good in all the stats, but im getting frustrated by the recent production of spencer hawes randy foye and eric gordon. i have on my watch list right now hinrich, darko, and ben wallace. should i make any changes? especially with hinrich, will he be better than gordon when he comes back?

  25. baraks says:

doc, I got this trade in the works. I would send Danny Granger and DJ Augustin for KG and Kidd. Should I push through with it? thanks.
