(Almost) Daily Fantasy - 12/29
MVP of the nightFantasy MVP of the night? Josh Howard. Owners loved the night they got from J-Ho (sans Dirk)
last night. Howard had 29 points, 5 threes, 9 boards, 7 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks. Danny Granger finished a very close second. So much for the concussion right? Granger had 34 points, 4 threes, 5 boards, 2 assists and 2 steals. LeBron was also a close third (I gave Granger the edge because of the free throw shooting). The King had 33 points, 9 dimes, and 6 boards. In 4th was the return of Carmelo who had 32, 9 and 4 against the Knicks.
JR Smith – JR is my choice for Co-Captain of the waste of fantasy potential (with Andray Blatche). JR had 16 points in 25 minutes but really could go off for 30 at any second or could be benched at any second. Huge fantasy tease.
The Lakers and Jazz – Both squads only play 2 games this week. You should clearly bench Kobe and Deron. You know I’m kidding right? For Millsap owners, you’d rather him miss the two game week than a 4 game week right? Glass half full!
The Knicks – I wouldn’t worry too much about Mike D’s lineup changes yesterday. Yes, Al Harrington came off the bench and Tim Thomas started, but you’d still rather Harrington. Tim Thomas still only played 18 minutes and scored 9 and grabbed 6 boards (Harrington had 15 and 2 threes). Thomas still deserves watching. After those two everyone’s minutes were basically the same. No need to worry about your NYC production.
Chris Anderson – Birdman got a DNP last night. I saw him on the bench and then saw zero minutes in the boxscore and figured he had to be hurt. Nope. DNP-CD. He shouldn’t be owned in 12 teams and under but has been a block machine. Somewhat disappointing to see Karl’s lack of confidence in Anderson.
Anderson Varejao – I really like what Varejao could do for a team. Last night he played big minutes (32) and had 12 points, 10 boards, and 2 blocks. Without the consistent 30+ minutes he still isn’t worth owning. Scola would be a better option off the waiver wire right now.
The Kings – Sactown played one of the grossest fantasy games of all time last night. You literally can’t find one player who actually had fantasy value (Jason Thompson had 9 and 6. WOOO!). John Salmons was their leading scorer with 11 points and was the only player in double figures. We really didn’t know that was even possible. Brad Miller needs out of town, Salmons is still a must play and Kevin Martin needs to get back. After that, everyone on the Kings is somewhat throw up in your mouthish.
Sasha Vujacic – Sasha is clearly getting more run with Farmar sidelined after knee surgery. Last night, in 31 minutes, he dropped 17 points, 4 threes, and 6 dimes. 14 team and unders don’t need to make a move. We’ll keep watching the situation. Obviously if Derek Fisher was to get hurt (Fish actually had 19 last night by the way), the situation would be different.
Shawn Marion – Sure he had 10 boards and 2 steals but the Matrix only had 4 points and is really frustrating owners. He needs a change of scenery in a bad way.
Marcus Camby – Welcome back. Camby returned from a one game absence due to a loss in the family and had 16 points, 12 boards, and 5 blocks.
Eric Gordon/Freddie Jones – Fred Jones gets signed and plays his first NBA game of the season going for 22 very real minutes. Interesting. Jones has had value in the past but it would take injuries for it to happen again in Clipperville. It looks like until Kaman comes back (next week?) Thornton will play a lot of power forward with Fred Jones getting some run at the three. Eric Gordon isn’t losing any time. He’s been the minutes leader on that team over the last month and played 41 last night (12 points, 4 boards, 3 assists).

No on both trades. Rose and horford have more value than that. The duhon one is closer.

You’re trading for jameer at his absolute peak and trading a guy who is always this good. That makes me nervous.
