(Almost) Daily Fantasy – 12/27

Jermaine O'NealYour trade high candidate of the week!

Have some Jermaine O’Neal! JO dropped 36 and 9 last night and it doesn’t really look like it was an aberration. That’s three straight games of 34+ plus minutes, three straight of at least 9 boards, three straight of at least 23 points, and three straight of shooting over 50% from the field. He also has 8 blocks in his last three games. Congrats on last night’s fantasy MVP JO. Repeat after me – Trade high.

Rashad McCants – This is how McCants last 5 games scoring outputs look. 21, 2, 16, 4, 23. Anyone want to guess what his next game will look like? McCants went nuts from three last night going 7-9. He scored his 23 points in just 21 minutes. I don’t recommend picking him up.

Sebastian Telfair – It’s hard to read too much into anything the Wolves players did last night because they were playing the porous Knicks defense. That being said, Telfair’s bounced back from a string of DNP’s to play two straight 30+ minute games (FYI – Mike Miller is still out). Telfair had 20 and 8 last night. It will take a whole lot more from me to recommend him… again. Yes, there was a minute this season when Telfair first came back from his suspension that I suggested a pick up.

JR Smith – Here we go again. First and foremost let’s get this out there. NO CARMELO ANTHONY. We continue – JR dropped 27 last night and the Nuggets won… Which lets face it matters even in fantasy. It doesn’t help Smith’s playing time case when he goes off and they lose. JR did his thing with 7 three’s and for what’s worth roto league players, now has almost 2 made threes a game. Melo should return to action tomorrow.

Boris Diaw – If you haven’t figured it out, Diaw is going to be legit the rest of the way. 16, 8 and 7 last night.

Danny Granger – Granger was doing his thing last night when he nailed his noggin and left with a concussion. More on his status as we hear it. We’re guessing he’ll play through.

Loul Deng – It’s going to be a minute before we see Deng in a Bulls uniform again. His sprained ankle is severe and we’ve seen what that’s done to other players this season. The “plantar” has definitely been replaced by the high ankle sprain as the league’s most popular injury.

Marco Belinelli – Belinelli had 4 more threes last night and he’s now averaging 16 points and 2 threes in his last five games. He’s averaging about 36 minutes per game in those five games as well. I still don’t completely trust him in head to head, but there should a roto owner in just about every league that was savvy enough to get a good chunk of Belinelli’s threes.

Bobby Jackson – Another turn back the clock candidate? Really, B-Jax is much more of a late career Tony Delk, but he’s having a little bit of a nice run right now. Jackson had 17 points, 6 boards, and 3 dimes last night and actually consistently put up lines with Kevin Martin out of the lineup. Martin is expected back somewhat soon so if you’re desperate for a guard for next week, it may be your last chance to play Jackson.

Kosta Koufos - With Millsap and Boozer both out, someone other than AK-47 has to step up right? How about Kosta Koufos? Remember how high everyone was on him during the draft because of his ability to shoot the 8 to 10 footer? Koufos had 18 and 8 last night. He’s going to get picked up in a number of leagues for next week. Clearly, that’s risky, but if you own both Boozer and Millsap you might be in a situation.

Monta Ellis – Nellie says it will be about a month until Ellis is even going to have a chance to play. Honestly, he could be telling the truth, but I really don’t believe anything Don Nelson says.

couldn’t agree more. Have those 2 out, plus Kevin Martin out, Zach Randolph AND Artest DTD.

what on earth do u recommend i do?

the only solution seems to be trading boozer…if i find a taker that is.

  2. Ansonious says:

I swooped up Diaw off waivers in my fantasy league it’s pretty funny just got him and Stuckey.

  3. Aye yo says:

whos coming back quicker.. Arenas or Dunleavy? Is Krstic going to have the same impact he did in Jers if hes with OKC?

  4. MoxWestCoastRep says:

    oh, and btw….F#@% Don Nelson!

  5. PB says:

JO is beasting. His post moves are reminiscent of 2003/04.

  6. DB says:

I have elton brand and paul millsap. udonis haslem, bryan gomes, luis scola, yi jianlian and anderson varejao are available. what do you recommend i do??? thanks

Wow. Someone actually wrote in my name and responded as me. I am somewhat honored. I deleted them, but still, I’m touched. Real answers…

Nimit – Stinks. You have anyone to cut? Millsap is only about a week. You aren’t going to get much for Boozer unless it is a keeper league.

    Ansonious – Nice work.

Aye yo – I’d grab Krstic. He’s never been a good shot blocker or rebounder for a big man but he can score. I’m going to guess Dunleavy makes it back first.

DB – go with Haslem or Scola if you have someone to cut.

been holding onto ellis since the draft, thought it was a good thing to do since it’s the second half that counts for the WIN. but end of january. c’mon! i’d feel like i betrayed myself if i dropped monta right now. still, my playoff chances are disappearing slowly but clearly.
    what to do, doc?
    thanks on the advice again.

  9. loslobos says:

ditto on the monta question. picked him up late in the draft and have been holding ever since…total toss up as to what to do at this point.

drop him and pick up lou williams? lol.

  10. dkeot says:

should i trade butler for devin harris? im currently first in a roto league. Based on pure value, who would you rather have?

  11. wilson says:

i know artest is still coming back from an injury, but he will start when he’s completely healed right? he won’t come off the bench? i would try to trade him he if it turns out that he’ll only play 30 minutes a game and can’t get 2 steals and 2 threes with about 16 points 5 rebounds and 3 assists

  12. s.bucketz says:

i dropped stuckey a while ago…i was sooo close to droppin diaw too

  13. Craig says:

len-e – This year more than any has been a perfect example that if you have only three bench spots, it is almost impossible to win with while drafting a guy like Arenas or Ellis. Even Manu hasn’t really worked out and he came back early. You need that flexibility to pick up hot players. I’m not saying cut him at this point, but it is going to continue to be a tough road.

    loslobos – Gotta hold out.

    dkeot – You’re in first? If it ain’t broke…

wilson – If the Rockets are going to really compete this year, REALLY compete, then they’ll need all their pieces not just healthy but in synch at the end of the season and the playoffs. They need Artest to play. He’ll be fine. Keep in mind, he has always had injury problems.

s.bucketz – Don’t be ashamed to say you dropped Stuckey. Everyone who had owned him at one point dropped him.

Craig – Nobody replied but I think they took you seriously.

    @ FD

My bad, i was just havin fun before my shift was done. I figured it was obvious i was messing around with the no clue answer and the “dunleavy wont be back before arenas” thing
