(Almost) Daily Fantasy – 12/22
The Suns play only ONE game this week. This is a big week to pay attention to the fantasy doctor. Here’s the deal – it’s a bizarre schedule this week where some teams play a normal 4 or 3 game schedule, but there are a number of teams that play 2 games, and makes sure you pay attention to this – The Suns play ONE game this week. Here we go…
Amare and Steve Nash – You probably play Amare and unless you have a great second option for Nash, you probably go with Nash as well.
Shaq and J-Rich – I’m sitting Shaq in favor of Marc Gasol, who plays 4 games. Jason Richardson is a toss up. Again it really depends on who you have to play over him. Best case from J-Rich this week is about 30 points, 4 threes, 4 dimes, and 7 boards. Measure against that.
Russell Westbrook – The life and times of being a rookie continue. Westbrook had a great stat line last night going for 24 points, 2 threes, 11 dimes, and 6 boards. Again, he’s too inconsistent to be counted on but clearly has big time potential both in the league and in fantasy. Might be a minute until he puts it all together though (see: Devin Harris).
Mike James – I mentioned Mike James over the weekend but he’s clearly the Wizards go to point guard until (if) Gil gets back. He only shot 6 for 15 from the field, had 8 boards and 5 dimes. The Wizards play 3 games this week and there is a case to start him over Nash this week. Either way, I can’t imagine a league of 10 to 12 teams where James isn’t worth a pick up.
Eric Gordon – Ricky Buckets is out another month, Eric Gordon should continue to be a solid own. I’m a big EG fan right now. Grab him.
Rajon Rondo – I watched the Knicks and Celtics play last night. Nobody on the court could guard Rondo one on one and it really didn’t matter if you gave him the J, he’d still drive past you. He ended with 26 points on 12-14 shooting (almost all layups), 6 boards, 5 dimes, and 2 steals.
Quentin Richardson – Q had a great game last night against his least favorite team in the NBA. He finished with 5 threes and 29 points. He had been unbelievably inconsistent this season

I just got offered D-Will and Tayshaun for my Devin Harris and Josh Howard.
It’s a points only league where all the stats are worth a certian point amount. D-Will is avg 60.7 points, Prince 46.5, Harris 69.8, and Howard 46.1.
I think D-Will will continue to play better and push up to 65 points per game but will Harris regress any (currently averages 5th most points per game in the entire L under the current formula) or will Howard play any better than he is? Prince is probably a lock for where he is right now based on his averages.
I like this trade if Harris is going to come back down some and I’m not terribly high on J-Ho. Whaddya think Doc?

The Fantasy Doctor says:
I think J-Ho has the potential to be much better than Prince as a fantasy contributor. I wouldn’t do it.

Doc,
I just got offered Iverson and Redd for my Josh Smith and Jason Richardson. The rest of my team looks like this:
CP3, Jameer, B-Roy, OJ Mayo, Deng, Crash, AK-47, Camby, LaMarcus Aldridge, & Al Harrington. I’m currently first in the league so I don’t feel like I need to fix anything. Thoughts?

Doc, I like you and all, but A.) your assessment of J-Rich’s max against the Spurs is a little fellatio-us, if you know what I mean. And B.) I think I might throw up in my own mouth if I owned Steve Nash and had to start Mike James.

Hey Doc, which one would you recommend? JJ Barea or Rudy Fernandez? I’m having a tough time choosing.

Doc, you keep hyping up Eric Gordon but looking at his game log I’m just not seeing his value. He occasionally gets some points (often not), his FG and FT% are nothing to write home about, is nothing special steals or assists-wise & gets too many TOs. Is there something I’m missing that makes him a valuable pickup?

I agree with Andy, no matter what Westbrook does you call him too inconsistent to condone owning. Yet you pimp Gordon and Augustine every chance you get. I just feel sorry for all the fools that listen to what you have to say.
