Antonio Daniels Was Supposed to Be Traded For Larry Hughes
Before the Wizards pulled the trigger sending Antonio Daniels to Memphis for Javaris Crittenton and Mike James (from N.O.), they had the basics of a trade with Chicago workout out.
Sources tell me that the team was on the verge of a deal that would have sent Antonio Daniels, Etan Thomas and another player (maybe Dee Brown) to Chicago in October for Larry Hughes but the deal was put off when Hughes (shocker) injured his shoulder.
Though Gilbert and Larry Hughes once formed one of the most dangerous one-two punches in the League in ‘04-05, those days are gone.
From the Wizards’ perspective, which trade do you like better – the one they made or the proposed deal?

The Hughes deal would have been better in the short term, but things would have been a little too crowded in the backcourt when Gil comes back.

The one they made!
(OK, that was actually the Hornets’ perspective. I don’t even want to read about this. We dodged a bullet there. The bullet that is Mike James’ seat on the deep end of the bench while making $6 mil.)

I am the only NBA fan that likes Larry Hughes as a player and think that Chicago could hold onto him.
He is not the shooter that OJ Mayo is but otherwise they are almost the same player (6′5 playmaker with a great handle) and I think he is a nice fit with Derrick Rose in the backcourt.

@ Kobeef
OJ Mayo is going to hopefully be the player Larry Hughes was supposed to be. Larry Hughes has never been the guy people think he is.

George W Kush Sr says:
Why did they pull out because he was injured, he’s injured half the time anyway, they knew that even before proposing the trade.
Thats like saying you wanted to trade for Antoine Walker but then you reneged but he’s lazy.
