Baron Wants Back in the Bay?

Baron DavisBaron Davis

Now that he’s gone, it’s easy to see just how big Baron Davis was to this Warriors’ team. (They’re so desperate for a real PG, they’re entertaining a deal for Ray Felton.) But maybe we didn’t realize how much he benefited from playing in the Bay too. Baron and Stephen Jackson touched base recently about the possibility of a Golden State reunion.

“That’s all we talked about,” Jackson said. “I went to his house, spent some time with his mom and his grandmother. He wants to come back. And if he wants to come back, I want him back.

“I think that would be great for us. Coach loves him. Him and Monta have good chemistry. If they could work that out, that would be great for the organization.”

The only problem with this possible reunion is how it could come to fruition. Would Golden State be able to return Corey Maggette to sender?

If you were the Warriors, would you want Baron back?

WITH OPEN ARMS!!! Can we just trade Baron for Maggette - maybe throw in Brandon Wright or someone with upside to make the numbers work and give the Clips some insentive - and pretend this whole thing never happened?

  2. Brown says:

Hell yeah I’d want Baron back! It’ll never happen though. Rowell already killed that possibility.

We’re stuck with Maggette unless we unload him along with prospects and/or draft picks. I don’t think there’s any chance the Clips want him back.

  3. loganlight says:

    Hahaha… This would be hilarious.

Has this EVER happened in the NBA?

  4. rodnets says:

Baron in exchange for Magette and a couple of Amber Lynn blowjobs.

  5. JCARR says:

I knew this would happen… B-Diddy needs to go back to the Bay area ASAP! Baron is a PG who likes to run on the open floor and create for himself and others. Maggette for Baron most def. Maggette hasnt done anything and is the only player besides Zach Randolph who can succeed in L.A Clippers uniform.

    We believe.

  6. QQ says:

I would love to see that happen. Watching them take down the mighty Mavericks in the 06 playoffs still ranks as one of the best NBA moments ever in my book.

    WE BELIEVE.

  7. Eddy K says:

YES. He’s part of the reason the Golden States were once soooo good.

  8. TD says:

As a warriors fan, this would be terrible. Look how bad Baron is in LA, and at 5 years and 65 mil, is he worth it? Getting rid of Maggette is a good idea, but bringing back baron would be terrible for Monta’s development as the PG of the future. And having to give up anything other than Maggette and Marcus Williams would be stupid. But I could definately see the dubs doing some dumb ish like this, Rowell is an idiot.

  9. marcus says:

    poor Clippers fans….

  10. jace says:

u kiddin me? baron was built for this style. if u wanna be REAL successful with the run-n-gun ur gonna need a real distributor. b-diddy is not only a good distributor, hes a scorer and sometimes quite a ballhawk. plus, hes athletic as balls. he never shouldve left. both sides fault for not cooperating with each other. never liked corey maggette’s style at all. that guys needs a better-basketball instructional.

monta will never be a good pg. NEVER. NEVER. he should just accept his role of being a backup pg or an undersized 2-guard. also, captain jack should be the highest paid player on that squad. hes hands down the leader and best player. monta shouldnt earn more than him.

  11. rean the pessimist man says:

it’d be nice but i don’t think that’s gonna happen though.

  12. TD says:

    Jace,

First - BD takes absolutely terrible shots, and isn’t that good of a distributor. Look at Duhon for example, is he really a good passer, or is he in a system that allows him to be good? Also, giving a 5 year deal to an aging PG that already has a bad injury history is just dumb, ask any clips fan.

Second - Captain Jack is a good role player, but not the best player on that squad and didn’t deserve an extension. Tell me what he’s done to be getting 9 mil a year. He shoots terrible shots too early in the shot clock (a problem with most of the warrios), and he got too much credit for shutting Dirk down in the playoffs. Especially considering how much problems dirk has with smaller, more athletic defenders.

Last - Monta is 22 years old, and one of the fastest players in the league. Why can’t he be the PG of the future? He’s got the handles and he should be able to distribute the rock, or at least learn how to.

  13. jmg says:

i believe he got swindled by Brand and made the wrong move and now wants to go back on it! Karma caught up to Brand, now BD has to suffer in basketball hell…BUT its not like he didnt know the CLIPPs is the worst runorganization in the L, with one of the worst coaches and the definitely the worst owner!! feel bad for ya BD but you are stuck

  14. PALakerFan says:

Baron thought he was goin to play with Brand, and then Brand boned him. He had a chance to back out of the verbal agreement but stayed for the cash. He’s getting what he wanted - MONEY. So screw him.

Plus, he’s too old and too expensive for the Warriors. What they need is a healthy Monta at the 2. Trade Jamal Crawford for a starting distributor at PG, and most importantly - A NEW HEAD COACH. I’ve always like Nellie but he’s done. He doesn’t even care anymore.

They need more character guys and less characters.

  15. GEE...Now yo party wasn't jumpin and yo dj was weak! says:

Run Baron Run! Go back! The Clips ain’t the place for you and Brand needs to go back to the Clips. Philly ain’t for him.

Some cats need to stay put.

    That grass ain’t always greener!

  16. dagwaller says:

Hahaha Baron Davis is retarded. Why did he even leave in the first place, again?! Not a fan of him as a player/person.

  17. BxBaller says:

Clippers lose. The face of their franchise’s heart is in another city. I say blame Warrior’s management for this fiasco of a season. They might just be more incompetent than Knicks management.

  18. K Dizzle says:

He had 65 million good reasons to bounce…

  19. dagwaller says:

K Diz, do you know how close the Warriors were to giving him 65 mil? I don’t, but I bet that it wasn’t that far off.

  20. dukesman2000 says:

Boom can do whatever he wants. Nelly doesn’t give a shit and he knows his roster is way better with Baron running the point.

  21. tbone says:

the clips just need to get rid of dunleavy. he’s just a bad coach.

  22. nabeil says:

Just imagine if Baron came back oh man the Bay would go nuts the oracle would be rocking!

  23. BROGDEN says:

He’s gettin homesick ’cause IT was supposed to be GORDON, KAMAN, MAGGETTE, AND BRAND…

    …and maybe a healthy LIVINGSTON…

    …but IT’s not…

…and he signed the dotted line.

*IT = WHAT HE SIGNED UP FOR
