Brad Miller’s Bus Out of Sacramento
Brad MillerA couple of days ago, a rumor surfaced that Gerald Wallace would be headed to Sacramento in exchange for Brad Miller. However, word out of Charlotte is that Larry Brown isn’t all that interested in the Kings’ big man.
But that’s not going to stop Sacramento from exploring some other options for Miller. He’s at the top of their trading list right now, not only because he’s got $23 million left on his deal (including this season and ’09-10). But his production is down across the board, and the Spencer Hawes/Jason Thompson combo deserves minutes.
So with Charlotte off the table, what are some possible destinations for Miller?
* Portland
Though Geoff Petrie would probably prefer to deal with Eastern Conference teams, and Kevin Pritchard is nowhere near ready to give up on Greg Oden, this could work. Miller has a couple of good years left, and his passing instincts would benefit Brandon Roy, Travis Outlaw, and Rudy Fernandez.
Would a package that included Jerryd Bayless, Joel Przybilla and a pick be enough for Sacramento?
* Miami
Even if Joel Anthony has been a serviceable center for the last six games, he’d drop off the face of the map if Alonzo Mourning returned to South Beach. So what about securing a guy whose actually been playing the game for a couple of months at a pro level in their playoff push? Miller and Shawn Marion could be the centerpieces of this exchange, with Sacramento giving up a Donte Greene as well to try to even things out.
* Dallas
The Mavs were better without Josh Howard in the lineup. Even though he plays the same position as Francisco Garcia, the Kings would move things around to fit J-Ho on board next to Kevin Martin. Like that Miami deal, Sacramento would have to give something else up to snag Howard.
What do you think is a good destination for Brad Miller?

shawn marion, josh howard; are you serious, someone would give up those guys for brad miller. I don’t think portland would move joel przybilla for this guy; przybilla is a great bully and miller plays zero defense. Maybe the wizards can get him for deshawn stevenson; a 32 year old center with no athletic ability with 23mil left, maybe a trade next year when he becomes the feared “expiring contract”.

Rudy Fernandez and Sergio happened… not saying either is better, but ya, the hype and Rudy’s play especially hasn’t helped Bayless.

Blazers love Pryzbilla, I don’t think they’d do that trade even straight up, let alone throw in Bayless.
Miller would look good with the Knicks, though I don’t know how they make it happen.

Brad’s a lot tougher than people outside of Sac think. He’s no “bully” but he isn’t a push over either. And it isn’t that the Kings don’t like his talent, he’s still got at least 2-3 good years left, it’s just that they are rebuilding. So this would strictly be to aquire a young guy and cap relief. Brad would make ANY teams’ offense better.

If not for that contract, Boston – backing up Perk. Would love that, but Danny would not/could not make a move with Miller’s contract as it is.

What about a Boozer for B. Miller and Shelden Williams and a pick.
Bozzer obviously wont be back with the Jazz next year and his salary comes off for the kings after the season when booz opts out.
Miller would give the Jazz a decent big man in return.

Lady Luck says:
Lots of places for a player like Miller.
Miami-But Sacramento would have to give up someone else to get Marion.
Chicago-Hinrich can go. He’s not really in the mix anymore.
Dallas- JHoward is available, Dallas needs a scoring center.
New York – does Sactown want Marbury? (probably not)
Atlanta- I don’t know who they would want or who would be available.
Golden St. – for Maggette perhaps.
