Brandon Roy Wants Payback
Brandon Roy“I’ve been listening to that guy’s crap for eight years.”
That’s what Joel Przybilla had to say after KG and the Celtics “bullied” Portland around in Beantown last January. At that point, the Blazers were nine games over .500, 23-14. But they went on to lose 10 of their next 15 games after the L to Boston, losing both their confidence and their momentum.
So I’d imagine that the Blazers have this Friday’s game with Boston circled on their calendar. And it turns out, after putting the Wizards away for their sixth consecutive win last night, that’s exactly what Brandon Roy wanted to talk about.
“This is what we want,” Roy said. “This is where we want to be. I want it not only for this team, but for me personally. To see where I’m at, you know? To see where this team is at, to see where I can get this team to.”
That’s a good reason. But that’s definitely not the only reason that Roy is getting his troops ready for Friday.
“Now Roy wants to deliver his biggest boom,” writes Jason Quick, “ending the Celtics’ 10-game winning streak on Friday, in Boston. This game carries some deep-seeded emotion for the Blazers. Roy felt Kevin Garnett and the Celtics “punked” the Blazers last year with some bully tactics. You can be sure Roy will be raising his voice and subtly delivering that message in today’s practice in Boston.”
“It should be a good one,” Roy said with a smile. “I’m sure they know who we are, and that we are coming.”

this is what I love to see…Guys that are about competition…I wonder if Boston even has this on their radar…Either way this Blazer team is looking like the second best team in the West and they haven’t really gelled yet.

Black Mexican claiming Garnett hates white people…that’s funny…He may hate the ones that tried to bury him in South Carolina…but whatever…
I don’t see a blowout with this game. Blazers will be in this game, especially if they care enough to speak out about needing to have this…This is the stuff that makes you want to watch a whole game. It will show more about Roy and his leadership capacity…

The C’s need a serving of humble pie plus I think the Blazers have a better bench and that’s what will be the x factor in this game. I nominate KG will start his antics with Roy first but since he’ll be on Aldridge I’m sure he will be jawing at him also I hope who ever he covers they serve him up something fierce get him to show people a little respect before he starts flapping his gums. The way Kage is acting this year is ridiculous it’s like he’s the new Bruce Bowen(don’t get mad Austin it’s not easy to get every team to not look forward to seeing you when they come to town.)

JBFC says:
The only person who has the demeanor, natural leadership ability, and talent to serve the Celtics a dose of humble pie is LeBron James. When LeBron James says his team “is never desperate,” you believe him. Would you believe it if Brandon Roy said it?
Of course, you’ll never read anything about LBJ’s ability on this site. The editors have made it clear that they have an institutional bias against LeBron, and there are no signs of that changing. Instead, we’ll get posts glorifying Brandon Roy and Carmello Anthony. Dime — when will this stop? When will you recognize LeBron?
December 4th, 2008 at 9:51 am
Kudabeen says:
Is that sarcasm JBFC or do you just not check out the site often?
There were a ton of complaints that Dimemag is too saturated with LeBron and his dealings…

The Celts have everyone on their radar. They are one of the few teams that don’t overlook anyone
Please believe the Celts know that the Blazers are the “p and coming” team. They have size, shooting, and depth but
Celts have heart and determination which combines with talent wins 99% of the time

As much as I’d love to sit here and say my C’s are gonna hit’em with a 20 peice, I dont see it happening. Celtics will win by like 5, and we’ll most likely be trailing going into the 4th, until the Truth turns it on. Can anyone say 19-2.

WHAT??
JBFC i think u lost all credibility with that one bizarro blog.. You probably aint hearing about Lebron ALL DAY here because we west coastas complain about seeing him ALL THE F’IN TIME.. I hope that was sarcasm..
And i second the sentiment.. i want that Boston team to get taken down a peg or two.. or three.. They are worst than Detroit was because Detroit was a silent cocky.. KG got a ring and dont know how to act now.. Their team comraderie is like no other team in the league but they act like they are the team of the century and VOICE it.. Sad because this is coming from the vets who have been humbled.. KG, Pierce and Ray Allen never liked Kobe because when he was with Shaq and winning rings he was “selfish, arrogant, etc” and kobe is and was dont get me wrong.. But havent those same three who disliked Kobe for those reasons become something of the same??

the rocket cat says:
It’s weird, I really like most of the Celtics as individual players, but I kind of hate them as a team. I’m sitting here hoping Oden can get fired up enough to kill one of them with a hard foul (first ever career ejection?), but I can’t think of any individual Celtics player I’d really want to hurt, except maybe Scal, and I don’t think he’ll see the floor.

Mamba says:
The Celts are garbage I hope Portland rips that W,
I agree with one of the earlier posters, Boston really has let their swag get out of control, they earned that ring, no doubt there, ripping my Lake Show to do it no less, but KG and the boys will get theirs,
I really, really think Bron and the Cavs have a shot to knock them off, this year he just seems to be putting it all together – and if he cant the Lakers will finish it off,
Having said that I really like B Roy and the Blazers, if Boston is playing sleazy then the truth will come out, but for right now it almost sounds like sour grapes,

the celtics are world champs ,and for that reason alone deserve respect for their game. I didnt care for last years thrashing of my blazers, no bone likes to be punked like that. so i`m thinking that this game will be very competitive ,hard fought, and a bit rough on the ears of children in the good seats.I cant think of a better game to watch than this one. I would like to go into the weekend with a perfect record against east coast teams, go Blazers.

Put anybody in KG spot and they can put up numbers yeah, but will they have a chip and come back 18-2.Hell no.I dont like Boston but people saying they swagger is to much are not thinking smart because you cant be out of control out there and win 90 percent of the time.Tell B Roy make a dam playoff season before he start calling out the big boys like Przbilla wont get bullied again. What was he 12 last year and now he’s 25 and ready.
