Breaking News: Reggie Theus Fired
Reggie TheusReggie Theus is number six. He’s been on the hot seat for a minute now, and the Kings brass finally decided to cut the cord today. According to ESPN.com, assistant coach Kenny Natt will replace Theus on the bench.
Theus held his job a couple days longer after the Kings surprised the Lakers last Tuesday. But without Kevin Martin consistently in the lineup this season, Sacramento hasn’t been able to get in any sort of flow.
Perhaps Sacramento’s management had to fire Theus, but it’s tough to imagine that another coach will do much more with a team who looks to John Salmons and Brad Miller for their offensive spark until K-Mart and Francisco Garcia are 100%.

calvin brodus says:
30 teams in the L and 6 head coaches fired already. Most teams have played about 25% of their regular season games thus far. So in the first 25% of the season, 20% of the league’s head coaches have been fired. That is jacked.

Gary says:
we can thank Kevin Martin’s groin for mushroom stamping Theus out of the league! Hilarious how their franchise player would probably not start on most teams in this league! JOKE!

The author of the article is 100 percent right – how can you fault coaches when there are injury problems?

Austin Burton says:
They gutted the roster between last season and the summer, then they had their best player injured. They created a roster that you KNEW was gonna give up 110 points a game and decided to rebuild in a strong conference. Of course they’re losing. What was Theus supposed to do?
Oh well. He’ll get a good college job or be on TV soon enough.

It’s not Theus fault
and it hasn’t been Eddie Jordans fault
that their teams have the record the have
Nobody could turn Sac-Town into a winning squad with this roster when your go to guy is john salmons
no disrespect but John Salmons hasn’t been able to put up consistent numbers since he’s been to the L

Kobeef says:
This is just like the Eddie Jordan or Carlesimo firings. I can’t imagine that any other coach could produce a better record with the teams’s star missing (Wizards), a rebuilding team (Thunder) or both (Kings).
Theus is probably sitting at home laughing since he will still get paid and some other chump will be stuck with this mess for another 60 games until he also gets fired.

George W Kush Sr says:
You’ve got problems is Salmons is your go to guy night in night out. He’s playing the best he can, but he aint no franchise player, thats a bad situation.

Sucks to be a coach these days. Who’s the hapless assistant that gets to coach these guys for the rest of the year?

Brown says:
There’s a reason all those teams stink, and it’s not because of their coach. Owners, upper management and/or the GMs are to blame in most of these cases, if not all.

DJ Go Go Gomez says:
This firing was NOT about wins and losses. It was because of a lack of consistant effort and not developing the young guys. Reggie alwaysed seemed to have a resentment tword the younger player that played well. Like the way he favored Artest to Martin on offense last year when Kevin was obviously our best offensive weapon. Or continuing to start Mikki Moore even though Jason Thompson kept out-performing Mikki with less minutes.
@ Gary
“Hilarious how their franchise player would probably not start on most teams in this league! JOKE!”
Let see Kevin would probobly not start on Miami, L.A., Boston, N.J. or Detroit. That’s not MOST teams. You’re gonna tell me LeBron wouldn’t want him @ the two in Cleveland?? Or Utah wouldn’t want him? Or Denver?? Dallas?? Phoenix??

K Dizzle says:
@ 24 – good post. KMart is easily one of the top ten most efficient scorers in the l and reggie shoulda played the young’ins more. What was he savin them for? playoffs?
This call just happened

2)Maloof(joe or gavin) – “Hi, Rick. What’s up?”
