BREAKING NEWS: Kevin McHale To Coach T-Wolves
Kevin McHaleMaybe the T-Wolves brass read what Aron wrote last night about how they should can Randy Wittman. Or, maybe they just realized that he isn’t doing anything to help this 4-15 team win games. ESPN.com is reporting that owner Glen Taylor decided to make Wittman the fourth coaching casualty so far this season.
And in his stead, Taylor is putting Kevin McHale back on the bench. Taylor isn’t giving McHale the job until they find someone else. This isn’t an interim deal – it’s the real thing. Though McHale spent 31 games after Flip Saunders was fired on the bench, in which he put up a 19-12 record, he’s still something of a newcomer to coaching.
But in some ways, it really makes sense to have the former Celtic great on the bench. Think about every time you’ve heard about the Timberwolves interests in the free agent market or in the NBA draft. It always seems as if McHale is drafting a team under the auspices that he’s going to help develop the players.
“Kevin has assembled the players on this team, and believes in their talent and skill level,” Taylor said. “It is my expectation that Kevin will be able to get the most out of our team and our players in his new role as head coach. He has been involved in the NBA game for almost 30 years, is a tremendous teacher and has a wealth of basketball knowledge. I am confident that our players will respond to the new voice and perspective that Kevin will provide.”

Why is McHale even working still? He’s done nothing except destroy a franchise. Did he secretly get a ring when Boston won the championship?

This is the small-market Zeke, “You made it, now make it work or get out” treatment. He’ll be gone by May.

Gooood now the T’Wolves have a chance to get rid of Kevin McHale for eevvvvaaaaaaa. I like Wittman, even though his record was underachieving.
Wow!! the owner put him on the spot light “Kevin has assembled the players on this team, and believes in their talent and skill level,” Taylor said. “It is my expectation that Kevin will be able to get the most out of our team and our players in his new role as head coach.”
Sounds like the owner has had enough of McHale.

The Question is why did Randy Whiteman working? What is there to like about him? Was he really a better option than Casey in the first place? He seems to on of a long list of unspectacular “coaches” that keep getting work despite having very little to show for…Maybe you have to be next to him to be impressed, but I don’t understand…

That video was amazing. McHale’s in trouble now, though. The Wolves are unlikely to start playing better and now McHale’s coaching his own roster. I’ll be shocked if he survives the season.
