D-Wade schools O.J. Mayo

Why do I feel like I’m posting a new D-Wade highlight every day? Although O.J. Mayo served Wade a healthy 28 points and a loss on Sunday, he still has to add his name to the hit list that includes recent inductees Emeka Okafor and Josh Smith.

you should post the 3′s from mayo in wades face…they were nice as well. but wade is definitely up there with james for ‘most higlights per minute’ rankings

  2. fallinup says:

I’m man enough to admit. Mayo’s been shutting me up ever since I said Rose would get ROY. He’s been lighting it up, no doubt.

  3. the black mexican says:

pull back was sick…so was the 28 shawty got put in his mug by mayonaise.
where r all da haters that said oj would flop? boy’s puttin in work (over 21ppg) for a team that’s makin a bit of noise, at least more than anyone expected of a team that starts 3 rooks.
Huntington WVA get yours dawg we run this.
Bill Walker’s gonna be a baller too, he just got stuck on a vet team right now. He’d be killin like oj if kid had any acl’s.
Patrick Patterson’s goin lottery this summer before turnin into the new millenium Buck Williams and you know this. HTown WVA, pop 20,000 with 3 of the best ballers to come out of high school this decade.
Our town is so fresh we are marshall.

i was thinking the same thing as toan (about posting the threes mayo had). Mayo is possibly my new fave young player, but wade got him bad on that one. i think it looked worse than it really was tho because it looks like he tripped on his teammate when he went back.

  5. Sam I Am says:

WOW… I’m blind from over exposure to awesomeness

  6. blah says:

BTW i said mayo would be ROY when i was watchin the draft this year. I also thought (other than love) beasley would be the biggest high-pick bust.

  7. baraks says:

chilling with Star Jones really got Flash’s game up.

  8. Willis says:

that was entirely Diawara’s fault. He knocked Mayo down. Sick anyway tho

  9. karizmatic says:

Yeah it looked like Mayo ran into his teammate and that why he fell, but it’s still an ill way to beat a double team with a cross. Wade is sick

  10. Kobeef says:

    @Blah
If you actually called that you should be getting paid by the NBA.

    @TOAN
I agree. Mayo tripped on his own player which makes this crossover look better than it is. The real story is:

    MAYO OUTPLAYED WADE LAST NIGHT.

    The future is now.

    Mayo
    8-17 FG (4-4 3pt) 5reb, 4 assist, 0 TO, O PF, 1 stl

    Wade
    5-16 (0-2 3pt), 5assists, 5 PF, 4 TO

  11. Kobeef says:

And most importantly, Mayo got his team a “W”

  12. John says:

    That was nice ,,,

  13. dada says:

I’m not really blown away by this play as most seem to be. The dunks on Emeka and Josh were much nicer plays and on this occasion it just seems like a combination of a little nudge + trip is being a bit overglorified.

  14. Silky Johnson says:

Nice step back, but Mayo did trip on his own guy – doubt he would have fallen over otherwise.

Wade was lucky he hit that shot though – he was open by like 8-10 feet in all directions.

  15. Dagomar says:

lol talk about the 28 points all you want – that’s the highlight that’ll live on highlight reels and youtube for years and years.

  16. Brooklynite says:

LOL at Mayo getting ROY just because he scores on a team with only one other scorer. Does he make his teammates better? Nope. Doe he try to rebound? Not really. Rose all the way. The kid’s game is just one dementional right now. I’m not saying he won’t get better but he is’t better than Rose and certainly not ROY over him. Rose is the leader on a more talented team. Being the best player on a more talented team is what gives him the edge over Mayo–it isn’t what makes Mayo better.

P.S Mayo schooled D-Wade last night and I’m a D-Wade fan. The cross-over would have been better had Mayo not fallen into his teammate.

  17. the_don_mega says:

OJ did it… cat’s findin’ his stroke frum long range now… he’s startin’ to catch fire…

  18. mules says:

Mayo actually would have done a good job staying in front of Wade if he didn’t get hipchecked by Buckner stepping over to take the charge. Nothing spectacular on that play.

  19. Max says:

Rose is still my guy, but I was really impressed with Mayo against the Heat — much better shot selection, and his shot looks really good. In the second half, he completely outplayed Wade.

This highlight was more impressive in real time — what made it for me was not only OJ tripping backwards, but how much time Wade took before taking the shot. Nice and leisurely after creating so much space.

Wade and the Heat did nothing in the second half though, and watching Marion and Magloire get punked by Darko in the second half was multiple levels of pathetic. The Heat network featured Magloire on their halftime “Meet the Heat” show, so LOL at Jamal coming in for a few minutes at the end of the game and getting ejected for mixing it up with Darko. That’s sad.

  20. eddy says:

d wade has no “city swag” thats why im not a fan….not feeling his swag or this cross…he clearly pushed off and mayo ran into his own guy…

  21. eddy says:

and if youre thinking “pushed off?!” watch again…he pushed off with his left shoulder…

  22. Smitty313 says:

Not to say D-Wade’s dunk’s were not nice. But to me he has that Clyde Drexler syndrome were his dunks look ugly. Even though he posterized Josh and Meka the dunks it self look horrible. But D-Wade would be my MVP so far if his team had a better record. OJ is ROY so far. D. Rose has been kinda of quite since killing Andre Miller. While OJ has been kinda of heating up. Rudy’s getting his team took away before he ever really became the go to guy.

  23. GEE...pyscopated rhythm says:

and he paused to let him fall!

  24. kevin k says:

Dwade is sick but he clearly shoved and mayo tripped over his teammate… dont know what is so wow about that…

the guy who posted this obviously is a mayo hater since mayo nutted on wades face all night.

    MAYO FOR ROY AND ALLSTAR!!

  25. Austin Burton says:

    You’re right, I hate Mayo:

    http://dimemag.com/2008/12/whos-better-derrick-rose-or-ojmayo/

  26. JCARR says:

    signature move ladies and gentleman

  27. Kevin K says:

Damn Austin. I feel retarded. I loved that post you wrote about Mayo. I was wrong there, but he clearly got shoved a lil and tripped over his scrub teammate.

Now Austin, if you can only write a post about how Mayo should be in the All Star team since he is probably the 2nd best SG in the West behind Kobe and maybe BRoy…

  28. eddy says:

dwyane wade makes everything look ugly….top 10 no swag players….dwade, earl watson, chris duhon, luke ridnour, ramon sessions, boris diaw, deshawn stevenson, ronnie price, tony parker and anderson varejao…..
top 10 swag players…jamal crawford, baron davis, lebron james, steve francis, carmelo anthony, allen iverson, kobe bryant, randy foye, derrick rose, ben gordon….not in the league honorable mention, khalid el amin, god shammgod, dajuan wagner, ed cota…

  29. eddy says:

^ shouldve put nate robinson in the swag category…

  30. eddy says:

^joe johnson also has a mean swag when he plays…

  31. Promoman says:

This play’s 100% overrated. O.J. was guarded by his own teammate in addition to getting a pushoff.
