DeShawn Stevenson: Benched
DeShawn Stevenson (photo. NBA)Apparently Wizards coach Ed Tapscott enjoyed watching the Mike James/DeShawn Stevenson backcourt as much as we did. With the Wizards having lost six straight and their two-guard struggling to the tune of 33 percent shooting from the field and a Biz Markie-ish 44 percent from the stripe, D-Steve (7.6 ppg) is getting benched. The ‘Hood Usher has started 275 games in a row, but reportedly it was his idea to try the sixth man role. From the Washington Post:
“In a real team gesture he basically told me, ‘Hey Tap, I’m struggling a bit, why don’t you let me come off the bench and see if I can’t get my swag back going against some second-line guys,’” Tapscott said. “I thought that an enormously gracious thing to say. And so, we’re looking at different combinations with the lineup whether big or small and let DeShawn go with the second unit for awhile. He’s the ultimate team guy and that’s why I have so much respect for him.”

I think this dude is one of the worst players in the L. He has never lived up to his hype his whole career. He plays “okay Defense” and his shot is suspect. You would think that with Gil being out, he would average at least 15 to 18 ppg…but he couldn’t throw a rock in the ocean if his life depended on it.

Are you serious, what a joke! He sucked then too. GM’s in this league make some really stupid decisions. Colangelo drafting Barnargni over B-Roy and Aldridge, McHale trading Randy Foye for B Roy, AI for Billups, Pau for Kwame’s expiring, OLD SHAQ for Marion, JJ for Boris and change. everyone can say the obvious thing in retrospect. None of the picks you mentioned were slam dunks when they were made, some just worked out better. No one knows what they’re getting in the draft, NO ONE.
