Did Steve Blake Push Off?
While everyone has been talking about Steve Blake’s big three that he hit with 8 seconds left against the Raptors yesterday, the conversation in the Dime office is whether or not he pushed off to get the look. While the push off wasn’t called during the game, check out the video and you be the judge.

Negative ghost rider. He extends the arm but the guys starts moving backwards well after Stevie had his arm completely extended…and god knows it wasn’t his body wait pushing him back.

fallinup says:
No push off….just Jose playing crap defense again. Blake shoulda had about 3 guys jumping at him on that play. If you’re up 2 and they have the ball….guard the 3 point line at all costs.

I never realized complainer Calderon was until I watched this game.
He threw his hands up in disgust and rolled his eyes at the refs every time a defender breathed on him.

K Dizzle says:
Not even close. Don’t know why JC is tryin to beat him to some spot thinkin Blake was drivin, but it was a gutsy shot to go for the win on the road instead of a tie. Big stones. He misses that shot and there’s 500 stories talkin bout how come he didn’t get the rock to Roy or Aldridge…

JCARR says:
NO. calderon just got played because he thought blake was going to take him to the hole and instead pulled up for a three.
If it was, calderon would of been crying to the officials.

UltimateRapsfan4 says:
I think he did push off because when he pushed calderon, calderon kinda jerked back. He kind of did something like jordan, when he shot that game winner in utah he like pulled byron russell back. I think the refs should of atleast looked it over for any significant info

Please it didn’t even look like he touched him more reasons why Toronto should seek help stat.

Raj S says:
He did not push off. Blake’s arm was extended the entire time, and Calderon was playing farther out than Blake’s arm extended. The moral of this story: Jose Calderon is an atrocious defensive player.

I am a Raptors fan and live in TO.
I was at the game.
No push off.
Cant hate, its not like it was that one posession cost them the game.
WEAKSAUCE defense, shitty wing play and NO REBOUNDING whatsoever cost them.
I never understand there plays after a timeout, etc.
PURE GARBAGE.

Prof. TX says:
If he did, it was pretty weak and barely made contact. It certainly wasn’t the same level that Jordan used in his famous shot.
December 8th, 2008 at 11:50 am
Data says:
I think it was a slight push off the only reason it looked so bad was cause Jose was off balance going backwards so that little push off knocked hom back even more. By no means is it a foul though. Say what you will about Jose’s defense (i agree it’s very suspect) on this play it wasn’t that bad he forced Blake into a very tough shot… on a broken play like that he was left on an island i think he did pretty well for himself Blake just rose to the ocvcasion and made a really tough shot.

not even close to a push off. steve blake gave calderon the porn star treatment. the money shot all over his face. good night, game over, drive home safely.

If Blake pushed Calderon in this play then Calderon is the biggest wuss in the game…Blake barely made contact.

fallinup says:
As much as we can blame Calderon for not knowing how to guard a 3 point shooter one on one (don’t get me wrong, jose sucks at D). There was 8 sec left in the game, and Toronto was up by 2. Why is Chris Bosh running back to the rim to box out his man when he was right there to defend the 3 point line?

they didnt call it in 98 in utah they sure as hell cant call this one

No push-off. Blake didn’t gain momentum from the motion, and he didn’t alter the momentum of Calderon.

Everytime says:
I was at the game yesterday and thought that there was a push off.
What is interesting and I don’t know if this is common place or not was that there were two guys sittings two rows behind me who were taking notes and grading the officials. They had NBA pass around their necks and were taking lots of notes during the game.
What caught my attention was a drive during the first half where a Rap was called for a charge on Oden and they noted the time and would review to see “if Oden was in the restricted area or not”.
Anyhow back on topic -> sitting 8 rows back @ centre court I saw what looked like a Blake push off.
JO was the only Rap playing defense last night. Bosh wasn’t himself after getting his forehead sliced. He was also cut on the arm later in the game -> Oden was goign after him hard.

Are you guys kidding us with this? Just because the Toronto announcer called it, doesn’t mean it’s true or even remotely close to being true.
Remember, this is the same crew that shouts “Vince Carter OH NO!” when he dunked the game winner on them a week ago.
This is a ridiculous article. You guys are better that this.

I dont care what anybody says he did push calderon atleast a little. If he didn’t push calderon why did he go flying like that. Raps literaly without a douby need a rebounding Guru some 1 like hakeem oljhuwan can probaly help them or an agressive charles oakley. And ways i aint gonna sit here talking about some stupid push the point is that the Raps need to get there asses off the floor and stop giving away games like this and start playing some real basketball

calderon was anticipating a drive to the right, then jumpshot at the elbow so his momentum brought him back two steps. blake was clutch.
