Coal In Your Stocking

Kobe BryantKobe

After Pau Gasol scored his seventh point in the final three minutes of the Lakers/Celtics Finals rematch last night, you could almost see steam pouring out from his ears, as the six-month wait for revenge had finally been realized. Pau was the one who broke Boston’s back, as the C’s gameplan clearly indicated that they weren’t going to let Kobe get after their jugular. But ultimately, Mamba (27 points, 9 reb’s, 5 ast’s) diced the consistent double-teams by spotting Pau over and over again standing free at the stripe. If they didn’t sick the dogs on Kobe, it would have been one of those crunch time performances for him. He already had the diabolical look at times - it was more American Psycho than Tony Montana - the best example being the shot he took in the second half, following two dribbles directly at the baseline, Bryant elevated and squared up mid-air in the same motion before whapping a 20-footer. But it’s amazing how quickly he can flip that switch from bloodthirsty to Barney. You gotta love Kobe in his interviews with Lisa Salters – during the half and after the game – when he kept telling Lisa about how much “fun” he was having out there. Come on Kob, you’re not fooling anyone. We all know that once you get in the locker room, the jolly, disarming guy we just heard is going to be the first one to scream about “dropping those muthaf****s.”… Turns out, it was the Machine who felt like running his mouth to the media after L.A. sealed the 92-83 win. “I don’t like them at all,” said Vujacic to the AP. “A lot of people called us softies or whatever. It doesn’t matter at all. We know what we can do.” In truth, Vujacic’s biggest contribution was that he finished an and-1 on perhaps the biggest circus play of the season. Following a Big Baby brick, a long rebound careened out to Kobe, who clearly learned something (more than what they’re asses look like) from those visits to the women’s Olympic volleyball team in Beijing, as he bumped the ball down to the far baseline. Thanks to Trevor Ariza’s ridiculous body control, Sasha ended up getting fouled and a lay-up. If you checked the replay of that possession, while everyone else on the floor was laying out, you could spot Tony Allen in the corner of the screen like Waldo, standing in the backcourt basically scratching his butt… E-mail from Jed, “P.S. Is there any doubt that Tony Allen is the worst player in the NBA who gets minutes?” E-mail from Andrew, “If the Celtics lose tonight, they should put the entirety of the blame on Tony Allen’s shoulders. He was downright awful. Even though he had one nice rip and a lay-up, why did Doc Rivers have him on the court with five minutes to play?” As ugly as TA’s play might have been, both Lakers and Celts fans could agree that the collection of footwear on the Staples Center floor was gorgeous. Everyone had some heat - Kobe broke out the Christmas version of his new Zoom Kobe IV (Low’s), there was a Christmas rendition of KG’s TS Commanders, Pierce rocked green candy-cane looking Nike’s, Andrew Bynum had creamsicle-ish yellow Hyperdunks, Big Baby sported Jolly Green Giant Hyperdunks (just made that name up), and of course Ray Allen had some heat from Brand Jordan…

LeBron JamesLBJ

While all the hype going into the Wiz/Cavs game was about the debut of LeBron’s “chalk” shoes, and just how badly the Cavs could destroy the 4-22 Wizards, Washington shot out of the gates like a bat out of hell. They were getting some good looks, but more than anything, it was that their troop of jack-artists were locked in. Antawn Jamison (28 points, 6 reb’s) had the ugly arsenal firing on all cylinders – he put up 17 points in the first half on leaner three-pointers, no-look hooks, and everything else that really shouldn’t go in. Mike James doesn’t know if he’ll still be on the roster come Easter, so he came out looking to get his. “The Amityville Horror” had pulled 56 times in the four games leading up to this Christmas spectacular. Tonight was no different – he hoisted 14 more times, draining 10 of those tries to finish with 26 points… After LeBron took a season-low four shots in the first half, we expected him to come out in the second doing his best impression of cousin Mike. But LBJ didn’t force the issue at all. It was obvious that he couldn’t operate as loosely in the half court set with Dominic McGuire up his jersey. But in crunch time, he benefited from a number of “superstar” calls: Jamison was whistled for going straight up, and James got an And-1 out of it. TNT didn’t even bother to check if Caron Butler actually grazed Bron’s arm on a three, giving him three tries at the line… And after Antawn fouled out (another questionable call), Butler was called for an awful charge (a completely bogus call), though Ben Wallace’s second foot wasn’t even on the ground. That pretty much iced it – and then the deal was totally sealed when Mike James caught the inbounds pass down three. There was no chance in hell that he was doing anything but launching… Over on Cleveland’s bench, Lorenzen Wright’s red velour suit – the pants, the jacket, and maybe even the hankerchief – rivaled some of the other great holiday attire that we’ve seen around the League, namely the remarkable green velour three-piece that Clyde Frazier’s broke out of his warehouse at the Garden for St. Patty’s Day last year…

Shaquille O'NealShaq

Hopefully you were still feeling the effects from getting after the Egg Nog on Christmas Eve and you missed Hornets/Magic at Noon. It was over by the end of the first quarter, and then neither team scored for more than five minutes during crunch time. Without CP3 on the floor, New Orleans looked like a group of guys who were playing pickup together for the first time. Julian Wright was that dude that shows up at every run around the country, thinking that every time he touches the ball he’s producing a highlight. It’s bad when someone compares you to Sandy Lyle in Along Came Polly. It’s even worse when you’re actually an NBA player, and someone compares you to Sandy Lyle in Along Came Polly. So it was almost a relief when ESPN flipped over to the game that we’d originally pegged as being over-hyped. From the jump, Steve Nash was zipping one handed passes all over the place, and running the screen and roll with Amare to perfection throughout the first quarter. Hubie Brown couldn’t even articulate how much he loved what Nash was doing - he sounded like Vince Vaughn when he had that red-headed chick’s hand down his pants in the middle of dinner under the table in Wedding Crashers.…Amare and Shaq were basically taking turns going at San Antonio - the Diesel might have given Tim Duncan four or five fitted hats for the holiday, spiking dunks down on his head. There was a memorable stretch when O’Neal scored three straight buckets on Timmy, the last of which involved Shaq stutter-stepping, crossing over, and then spinning into a baby hook. If you read the Big Fella’s lips on his way back down, you could see him point at the Suns bench and yell, “What’d I tell you?! What’d I tell you?!” Mike Tirico was even more excited, letting out a “Can You Dig It?!?!?!” that he’s been holding back for years. Though the Diesel continued to roll, later hitting on his eighth of nine straight free throws - which he pimped by holding the follow-through until he was basically in his defensive stance on the other end of the floor - the Spurs never let themselves get out of this one. Kurt Thomas deserves some credit for keeping it together early on. He was destroying Robin Lopez on the glass, winning every loose ball and rebound even though Butthead, er, Robin, is like 15 years younger and has a ton more energy… Late in the fourth, Phoenix seemed to be in control, but Duncan locked up Amare on three consecutive possessions (well two strong defensive possessions, one blown lay-up by STAT), leaving the door open just wide enough for Roger Mason to play the Grinch. On the possession before Mason ripped out Phoenix’s hearts, the Suns ran the exact same end-of-game play that they did against Orlando to get a game-winning lay-up for Grant Hill. It worked to perfection yet again, but no one’s going to remember that… Jason Richardson really did have a solid game, and he’s been superb since coming to PHX, but what in the good Lord’s name was he doing during Mason’s game-winner? He was supposed to be on Rog, but he jumped with Tony Parker as if he were getting into a jump rope show, leaving Mason with a clean look at the rim… The Portland/Dallas nightcap was almost as exciting, as Josh Howard got tossed in the second half, but Dallas managed to continue pouring it in offensively without him. It was Dallas’ two-pronged point guard offense that split Portland’s D open. J.J. Barea and J. Kidd combined for 14 assists (and 20 rebounds), while Brandon Roy couldn’t get going in the fourth. “The Natural” finished with 22 points, but didn’t score in the final period… The play of this game - and the night in general - had to be in the first half when the Spanish Armada connected for a sick lay-up. Sergio threaded a bounce pass through three defenders, and Rudy flipped a reverse up off the glass, and then off of every inch of the rim before dropping through…We’re out like Pau at L.A. nightclubs tonight…

only shaq gets excited because he made some free throws did he tell the suns bench what id tell u in the playoffs last season?

this picture from sneaker files pretty much says it all.

At this point i feel like the suns’ situation is like that of a nerd always being picked on (having their hearts stomped on) by san antonio to an extent where their (phoenix’s) cause becomes sympathetic

  5. knocks says:

Tony Allen…y’all read my mind on that shit, guys. That was the same thing I was thinking watching the second half. Allen played like absolute shit.

I swear, dude played better last year when he was wearing that Robocop knee brace. Maybe he should put that knee brace back on…and go get another one to put on his good knee. In fact, Tony A. should go and put his entire body in a Robocop knee brace and he’d probably help the Cs more.

First thing that popped up in my mind watching him put up all those shots was the phrase “Get Mine”. Does TA have a nickname already??? It should be “Get Mine”…..Tony “Get Mine” Allen.

Nah, I won’t lie…I’m just salty because I stupidly took Boston and the 2 points.

  6. Tek says:

ha ha. Mase just Steve Kerr’ed Phoenix!

  7. Flying_Aussie_Dutchman says:

No mention of Chris Paul’s steal streak ending? Seem’s Along Came Polly was watched over the weekend?

  8. Duke says:

Steve Nash might not have the same remaining cast of players from the Mike D’Antoni era but they still get their ass handed to them by the Spurs like in the D’Antoni era. As much as things change in Phoenix, it stays the same.

  9. aaron says:

I’m just gonna put this out there.

Who is going to be the big man to bring back the running hook aka the sky hook?

A lot of these big guys aren’t bangers like Dwight and Shaq a little finese could go a long way. Even a guy like Yao, it could ease a lot of his offensive frustrations and give him some consistency.

Or Oden. He doesn’t have any offense right now, he could use it.

Gasol has the length and could use it most nights.

I’m just saying. There are more candidates. Its a good move please let’s campaign for someone, anyone to bring it back!

  10. Jay says:

Allen really was horrific today. Stupid turnovers, ugly jumpers, bulldozing through the lane recklessly, and even missed layups. This is probably the first time this season that the Celts miss James Posey. After that 20-piecing, James Posey probably misses the Celts too.

  11. UncheckedAggression says:

I just wanted to point out that the charge call on Butler was not necessarily “bogus”. From what I saw, he definitely charged (his biggest mistake was not paying attention to what was going on in front of him). But if I was Butler, I’d be furious about the end of that game. It looked like he did everything right when he closed out on Lebron, but still got called for a foul. Three points from the foul line had a huge effect on the end of that game.

I really liked having games on all day. Hopefully they’ll do this again next year.

  12. Flying_Aussie_Dutchman says:

    @aaron

Oden really doesnt have much of anything. Except exceptional fouling skills

BTW, I dont dislike Oden. I still believe he will/could become a dominate force.. Fingers crossed

  13. woowoo says:

Do you guys have a new writer for the Smack or something; it doesn’t read the same.

  14. rodnets says:

I really see the Celts shitting their pants now that they know that the “machine” doesn’t like them…at all.

Those lines about Kobe switching from Dr Jekyll at the interview and Mr. Hyde at the locker room are really funny too.

    Peace

  15. AB_40 says:

stephen jackson wants out right? so can somebody… anybody? please start the S-Jack to boston sweapstakes? thank you

  16. soopatroopa says:

DIMEMAG - do you guys know what kicks Rondo was wearing?

  17. Celts Fan says:

great game yesterday. all of our fears are true. We need Deke (or someone w/ some size) off the bench and a legit backup 3 that’s not Tony Allen and is taller than 6′4″. Bill Walker and JR Giddens are putting up 20 per in Utah (DLeague) which doesn’t mean shit, but TA sucks so why not give ‘em a look to see if we should try for a trade? Hopefully we get to do this again in June….

  18. QQ says:

    Some things are learned today:

    1. Tony Allen is a worthless piece of shit. I would really love to imagine all the other Celts putting ALL the blame on him.

Reporter: KG, any comments bout the game?
    KG: FUCK TONY ALLEN

Reporter: Paul, whaddya think of the game?
Pierce: Tony Allen is the reason we lost.

Reporter: Hey, Scalabrine, your thoughts on the game?
Scalabrine: Tony Allen is the worst player ever.

    2. Even though more or less I’m a Kobe fan, he could definitely fucking kill the rhythm of his team when he goes into ‘Kill Mode’. Damn, son was gunning all over during the third quarter.

    3. Lakers win. WHERE ARE ALL THE FUCKING HATERS?

    4. Magic win. HATERS?????

  19. K Dizzle says:

@ “2. Even though more or less I’m a Kobe fan, he could definitely fucking kill the rhythm of his team when he goes into ‘Kill Mode’. Damn, son was gunning all over during the third quarter”

Kobe’s ‘gunnin’ was the only thing that kept LA in the game till Odom and Gasol picked up the slack…Goin 2/7 in the 3rd ain’t even really gunnin, especially when you go 4/4 in the 4th

I’m not gonna make much outta one game(huge mentally tho) and blame Tony Allen when Pierce has 5 turnovers and doesn’t score in the 4th. I’m more relieved that we got this one. Since june, laker fans been sayin if we had Bynum and Ariza, it might have been a different story. True to form, AB was a presence and his defense and shotblockin was vital and I don’t even have to talk about Ariza’s hustle and defense. The haters who been callin AB soft and sayin they don’t know why Laker fans would think dude would make a difference got a tutorial today. Perkins, Davis and Powe (who killed during the finals) were neutralized and Ariza’s defense bothered enough to help get the win. Celts need to replace what they lost, a big to replace PJ and a shooter/defender to replace Posey. Lakers/Celtics still the best rivalry in sports
    Peace

  20. QQ says:

K Dizzle, I’m a LA fan too. Don’t pick on a brother, brother. LOL

Congrats on the win. Man, I can’t wait for the haters to ‘critique’ the game. DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN.

  21. Celts Fan says:

the “critique” is that it’s December, and in the words of Charles, “The Lakers needed this win much more than the Celtics.” Great W, though with all the sloppiness, I was just glad we were still in it in the end. That had all the makings of a blowout. We lost 2 of 3 in LA in the Finals too so LA really just did what they should’ve done (not downplaying it, but if you’re a legit contender like LA definitely is, you have to win at home, they did.) See you in Boston on 2/5 and hopefully again in June (and hopefully with TA out of the rotation and a real 3 in there!)

anyone else catch Ray and Rondo just jawing at each other? Hope that’s just heat of the moment crap and not a real problem brewing…

  22. the_don_mega says:

damn… STAT surely gave Bonner buckets! but in the end… Spurs still own their asses…

  23. Mikey says:

How can you name a character from Along Came Polly, but Isla Fisher gets a “red-headed chick?” Come on now. Isla Fisher is a top 100 hottie (too bad she’s hooking up with that Borat guy).

  24. QQ says:

You get a pass Celts because you’re a real fan. I’m talking bout bandwagon bitches that claim ‘BOSTON:BEST TEAM EVER!!!!111!!! ‘ only because superstars suddenly began appearing in the green and white jersey but don’t give 2 shits bout the team before 2007. I hate bandwagoners.

I’m glad that you agree that Tony Allen is worthless though.

  25. E$ says:

Thank U, Fakers…..Last time I rooted for LA was vs Boston in 1985-86

  26. W says:

    Raindrop!

  27. BROGDEN says:

We saw Ray jawing with Rondo but immediately afterwards, Rondo dished out to Ray for a bucket. I like to see professionals be professionals. Ray was not HELPING out like he was supposed to during this game. That’s why Kobe got some j’s off. And Ray had a nerve to bitch at Rajon. C’mon man, just play.

  28. that's whats up says:

Rudy Fernandez is sick. He’s like a younger, quicker, healthier Ginobili - but with better defense. that tip-in was fly

I haven’t watched many Mavs games because they suck and I hate them, but that Barea guy is nasty as f**k. If he can ever improve his shooting he could be a nasty starter in the Steve Nash mold. He can pretty much lose anyone off the dribble, create any shot he wants, make the perfect pass… He’s smaller than Nash but already has better defense than Nash ever will. I see Kidd being let go at season’s end and Barea gets the startin job. Although, Barea and Kidd did play well together when they were paired in the backcourt, but Kidd is Oldd and getting Oldder quick (sic)

  29. Celts Fan says:

@QQ - you know man… I was the same guy saying “no chance in hell we win 70″ when some geniuses decided they should start the comparison. LA wanted this one more but honestly, the real season doesn’t start til the Playoffs for us (meaning both LA and Boston)

but that’s a GREAT win for LA. They just got a TON of confidence and momentum that will definitely show itself again in April, May, and June (and honestly, if we don’t get another big and another 3/try playing Walker or Giddens over TA - could they really be worse? - we may not even get past LeBron and them.)

I’ll take only 3 losses as of Dec. 26th though. As long as the Rondo/Ray thing was just heat of the moment and not a sign of bigger things coming, we’re still in great shape.

so does anyone think they come out tired tonight and only beat GS by 20 or are they in for the wrath? I see a 40 piecing coming and poor Marco Bellinelli will get the full fury of KGs antics.

  30. jayslay says:

LET IT RAIN…lol that quick shit is funny…..kobe wasnt jacking kobe was determined not to lose….and then he could basically got everyone to feel the same way…you could tell they had so,ething to prove…im jus glad they won cuz now the losses to miami and sacramento dont feel so bad…but its dec…still alpong way to go…..great win tho

how bout those magic…..how bout jameer…..this team is good ppl they can challenge…jus sayin

  31. vinny says:

so Boston fans how do you feel about marbury in a boston uniform now?

  32. rangerjohn says:

    @ #23

EXACTLY!!!!!! i was thinking the same thing.

oh and GO SPURS GO!!!! lmao just the thought of nash and amare and shaq at the bar after the game heads held low, tears falling in their beers, and the only thought in their mind being “AND THEY DIDNT EVEN HAVE HORRY, AT LEAST THEN WE COULD HAVE SOMETHING REAL TO BITCH ABOUT”

  33. it aint easy being green says:

why cant tony allen just slow down and stop playing so wreckless. why is doc not gettin in that ass, and if he is, why just now. TA’s been doing this.

no excuses, the lakers were hungrier for this one, but i cant see us losing a 7 game series.

I also agree with celts fan, ive been wanting to see bill walker get some burn since we drafted him, freakish athletisism, much potential, as long as he doesnt pull a TA and run around like a chicken with his head cut off. fact of the matter is that you could see it in the faces of both the starters, and the reserve unit, we were not in that game. sloppyness, coupled with the fact that before the starters came back in at the end, we were not running the offense through jesus (dont know why) yet we still kept it close to the end.

  34. srb says:

Odom was the reason the Lakers won. Those two 3’s he drained were killer, right when Celtics were getting a few things to go right on offense. And what’s up with pulling Pierce out at the end of the third when he was on fire? And furthermore what’s up with keeping the starters out until there were 5 minutes left?

Van Gundy was right on the money and my dad spotted it too - there was a stretch with Tony Allen and Eddie House playing with Ray and he wasn’t even touching the ball on half of the possessions. Ray has been really effective with the second unit because everything goes through him, instead of giving it to TA for a guaranteed turnover.

  35. MSkittle says:

The refs handed that game to the Cavs!

And what is up with Doc Rivers’ substitution patterns? You cant put 4 of your bench players in to start the second quarter! Big Baby and Tony Allen should never play!

  36. Celts Fan says:

@SRB - that’s Doc’s biggest problem. He sticks to his rotations to a fault. That’s what he always does and won’t change it barring foul trouble. He’s a little better in the Playoffs though and I guess it’s better to take some early losses and have guys w/ fresh legs in the Playoffs, but damn dude…

@It Ain’t Easy - even if Bill does run around w/ his head cut off (or “pull a Tony” if you will) he’s still got 3 inches on him and can’t possibly be worse. If you tell me we can have Tony Allen, or a guy who’s - at worst - a 3 inches taller Tony Allen, you take the bigger guy, right? It’s not like TA can make any jumpers (8% from 3 on the season before yesterday! dude may be a worse shooter than Rondo!) so why not play the bigger, more athletic, 5th in scoring in the Big 12 last year/tearing up the DLeague guy in his place? TA is useless.

  37. Kermit The Washington says:

Big big win for the Lakers. Now they can stop stressing over it (which they clearly were over the course of the last couple weeks), and start killing the rest of the league like they were at the beginning of the season!

Side point: Bynum’s still not 100%.

Another side point: Anyone who is still saying Kobe doesn’t make his teammates better, needs to watch the last 4 minutes of last night’s game. Kobe was on fire, and he LITERALLY transferred his powers to Pau Gasol to close out the game. Sick.

  38. BROGDEN says:

For real, for real I think the Lakers needed that one! Ill - Pau and Lamar and AB bringing some toughness. 7 game changing blocks. Pau with the f.u post-ups. I like what I saw from LA. Boston just had a bad night. Either one of these teams can compete with one another. And these two MAY NOT BE THE BEST TEAMS in the L, despite thier records.

Boston can’t have their starting backcourt go 8 for 25, 3 for 12 beyond the arc. I agree, Pierce can’t have 5 TOs. Perkins the Meanie Head in the words my lil’ niece who happened to see a couple of close ups on him, Pierce and Garnett can’t let Walton grab boards over you (if I remember correctly, 2 of them led to 3-pointers) I must admit, Perkins does have a permanent mean mug.

And Tony Allen should not be a main ballhandler EVER while on the court. Yeah, he stunk it up. But he gives you the type of play you find on winning teams.

  39. dmitry of jersey says:

anyone else think there is a legit problem with the Hornets? they just got smacked by the Lakers and Magic back to back… I don’t think something like that ever happened last season. at this pace i think their ceiling may be second round unless some changes are made…

  40. Kermit The Washington says:

Wait…no mention of that sequence where Ray Allen is all in Rondo’s face about some missed assignment, and simultaneously missing HIS assignment until Pierce comes in and grabs Ray and throws him into his position! That was dumb funny…but for real Ray Allen was BUGGING all game; something pissed him off (probably took a cheap shot) and he never got over it the entire game

  41. Kudabeen says:

    My question remains…

Why IS Tony Allen given soo many opportunities…His D is spotty…Is he really that much better than JR Giddens? Bill Walker can’t get some of his minutes??

I want to hear more about JR’s development…They are making a huge mistake not playing their younger wings…That can hurt them later…Last year they force feed Glen Davis, Powe, Rondo, Perk…They should toss JR and walker in the fire and see what they can do…

  42. that's whats up says:

the problem with the hornets is everyone has caught onto CP3’s game. Last year no one could figure him out and he pushed off EVERY play and got away with it. this year other teams are staying away from his patented push-off move and the refs are actually calling it every once in a while. He’s good, not great, but very good. Honestly, if he wasn’t allowed to push off on every play and get away with it he may only be a backup point guard. I’m dead-ass with that

  43. Celts Fan says:

agreed Kudabeen. If they can help, it’ll work out great for us in the Playoffs and if they’re useless, what’s a few regular season losses?

@Kermit - no one says Kobe can’t make his teammates better, the issue is that sometimes he won’t cuz he wants to be superman. not as much of a problem in the past few years but it’s definitely been an issue in the past (notice thje past tense there, don’t want to start a big thing on this.)

  44. BROGDEN says:

Yup, the refs did NOT want the Cavs to lose. That was obvious. I kinda felt bad for the Wizards. With that said, Cavs DO know how to win games:
1.If down by 6 or 8, let Mo or Lebron constantly attack the rim b/c either they’ll score or somebody’ll foul them or both.
2.Keep doing this until the score is at least tied.

One play that summed up Deshawn Stevenson’s plight this year - getting his 3-pointer blocked straight up n down by D. West. Deshawn did get it back and knocked down a 18-footer.

Sidenote: Marv Albert is the MAN! Deshawn was doing his “can’t feel my face” thing…then later, as he was driving to the rim, Mo inadvertently hit him in the face, sending him to the line. Deshawn was obviously reeling in pain from the blow. Marv says, “It seems he CAN feel his face!” LOL

And another thing — JKidd had a double-double last night…and he only had 6 points! (The 6′4 Kidd had GAME HIGH on the glass) Gotta love the way he dictates a game without scoring. GAME HIGH though? That says alot.

  45. John says:

Doc Rivers did a bad job yesterday, Pierce was a hide in the 4 , and Gasol and Odom delivery at the end, that was the game.

  46. isotope says:

Us Houston Rocket fans owe u Lakers fans, drinks on us. the streak is preserved!!!

  47. Celts Fan says:

@John - we all love Doc now, but no Bostonians (at least those of us that followed the team before the big 3 and know what’s up) really think he’s an elite coach. He’s a good coach in the way Phil is (balance egos, keep guys lose) but he’s by no means a great Xs and Os guy. Yesterday was one of those days where it showed. Oh well…

  48. JCARR "K1N6" says:

Phil Jackson got win 1000! Ray Allen was horrible yesterday. And was it up to kobe or phil jackson to play the whole game?

  49. John says:

@Celts Fan - I like Doc, as a Heat fan, I would love to see him in Spoelstra shoes … but yesterday , he gave that “we dont care, its not that important to us as it is for them” atittude, and it costs the game, because that atittude transpass to the entire team …

  50. Kermit The Washington says:

@ Celts…nah man, I know what you’re sayin’…basically what I meant is anyone who’s still saying that Kobe doesn’t make his teammates better (which like you said, shouldn’t be that many people now), can look at that game as evidence, cause it was textbook

  51. dmitry of jersey says:

@thats whats up: interesting theory. I don’t watch enough hornets games to agree or disagree, but it’s worth pointing out that on an individual level CP3’s stats are very similar to last year. something just doesn’t seem to be clicking with that team, which is disappointing i was actually thinking they would build on last year and be the favorites to come out the West this season.

  52. dmitry of jersey says:

one more thought: they should see if they can get SJACK from GS. I can see him fitting in better than Peja-palegic Stojakovic.

  53. isotope says:

Everyone has had time to figure the hornets out. No more suprises. And they really need their role players to step up. Thats why Cleveland is doing so well now. Teams were content with Lebron getting his and everybody else just standing around. Now his teammates are stepping up. And they are killing.

It’ll be interesting to see who misses the playoffs, the hornets or the Mavs.

  54. Kermit The Washington says:

Yo, I get the feeling that the Lakers will make it to the Finals again. But instead of meeting the Celtics, they’re gonna meet the CAVS. And because they’ve been so amp’d about playing the Celts again, they’ll be caught off guard and they should be very afraid of this…

  55. John says:

Lakers better dont sleep on the Spurs … TD will not go down easy …
    @dmitry of jersey says :
That S-Jac for Peja would be huge for the Hornets …

  56. doug says:

Celts Fan..don’t believe Barkley’s consolation to mourning celtic fans, “this win is bigger for the Lakers than it is the Celtics”.Trust those cats were going at this hard and trying to win this into the heads of Lakers as they are re-establish themselves as the most doiminant team in the west and eastern conference.
“it aint easy being green” I could tell by mostly all of your blogs and your fanatic bias that you recently renewed your celtic fan membership when KG got traded to you guys. Before than you were probably part of the crowd chanting MVP and wearing Laker Yellow the last time Kobe played at Boston before KG got traded there.”You can’t see them beating boston in 7″?Well did you see us beat you guys last night?Get a clue we’re a different team with Bynum and a healthy Ariza, WE KNOW THAT..and now YOU GUYS KNOW THAT. It’s a new year, I hope you guys are ready.

  57. doug says:

“Lakers better dont sleep on the Spurs”LMAO. Man, this cat’s are no good there too old. I know you guys aren’t feeling yourselves because you beat the SUNS on a last second shot. Hey, the SUNS suck please don’t plant your flag on this win. We routed you guys in the playoffs, as a matter of fact it’s the SPURS fault we didn’t take the Celts serious going into the FINALS, the way we man handled you guys gave us an unsafe swagger. Not only are the lakers not worried about these cats, everyone in the league feels confident against them. You and Jon Barry are the only cats that believe in the Spurs, there done.

  58. weezy f says:

kg also took a cheap shot at pau in the first half

  59. Kermit The Washington says:

John’s right tho…Spurs, no matter how old they are, will still give anyone PROBLEMS in a series. Tony Parker is NASTY (and he OWNS Nash…or anyone who plays defense like he’s at some rec center like Nash does), and Timmah is still a ridiculous beast. And once Ginobili is back 100%? Lakers don’t wanna have to mess with them.

  60. Celts Fan says:

@Doug - it’s not consolation, it’s fact. We won the title last year, so honestly, there are no “big games” til the Playoffs. We don’t need to get some momentum/confidence back from a Finals-ending 40 piecing like everyone on the Lakers not named Kobe did. Not saying that doesn’t have me scared as hell of the Lakers, cuz you guys are damn good and could easily take the chip this year (hell, I’m terrified of Bron and the Cavs too, hell we’re a flawed team til we get a better backup 3 and 5) but you did need it more than us, that’s just a fact (not an excuse though, we got beat by a team that was better than us yesterday, period.)

  61. Kermit The Washington says:

And KG was flopping and cheap-shotting all over the place yesterday. I’m really starting to HATE that guy…one of my favorite players at one time and now THIS.

  62. BROGDEN says:

Cool down. N.O has to gel. They’re still a very good team, a contender. They have new pieces. Antonio, Posey…bottomline they have new pieces. You can say Peja’s a specialist, not getting much of anything else but 3-pt shooting is a NECESSITY in this league. Ask the Sixers. I’m feeling bringing SJack to the Hornets but for Peja, ehhh, I don’t like that trade right now. I’d give it some time. SJack’s off this year (broken hand) and doesn’t seem close to improving the mechanics of his shot. He’s still gonna score and dish and do what he do but trading your marksman for sub-40 temporarily arthritic forward. Don’t know about that. They just need time to gel better. That’s all. The combo of CP3 and West is $till money in the bank! And you can when with 2 studs. Your supporting cast just has to come through eventually…

  63. BROGDEN says:

Kermit’s, KG’s been doing that. With Minny he was way over the top, even with the flops. Only difference now, he’s just in the limelight with his fancy new team and their fancy new swag.

  64. MoxWestCoastRep says:

Ah yes, my xmas wish came true!
Where are all my Laker hAters??
    LMAO!
DeKe’s 59 years old and you think he’s the answer?
Good luck getting past the King in the playoffs.
    Lakers 09 champs. Book it.

  65. Johnny Knox says:

    @ thats whats up

people may have caught onto CP3s game somewhat, but to say he would be a back up if not for his “push off” is possibly one of the 5 dumbest things ive ever heard…and im dead-ass with that

we are talking about the best PG in the L

  66. rell says:

I hope this loss convince DA to go out and get Mutombo. Also, Powe need to get more playing time and Big Baby and TA need less. If Powe is second on the team in free throw attempts, that mean Doc need to play him more. I’m still trying to understand why Doc will not play Walker or Gideon. Doc need to call them both up from D-league and see if either one can help the Celts the rest of the season. Tonight against the Warriors would be a perfect time to give Walker/Giddeon playing time. I know Doc like to stick to his rotation, but TA take to many bad shots. There is no reason for TA to take 9 shots in a close game unless he is hitting.

For the people who say the Celtics should be worried about the Lakers, my question is why should they. The teams Boston need to worry about is only the team in the East. Boston need to worry more about getting pass Lebron and the Hawks before even thinking about the Lakers. Both the Lakers and Celtics have to make it to the finals before they should start worrying about each other.

Just remember everybody that every team is one idiot GM away from making a playoff team into a contender.

  67. rell says:

    @MoxWestCoastRep

PJ was 49 when he made a impact last year. Deke can make a impact especially when out tallest player on the bench that get PT is 6′8

  68. the truth says:

I can’t wait till June when the Lakers smack some humility in the Celts. I predict that the Lake Show will win in 5 if it’s another Laker-Celtic series.

  69. Ian says:

the hornets last season were like the the tampa rays they played outta their minds they arent that good.

doug i would love the spurs to be the 8th seed and comon u say dont get excited for one win you lakers an are excited by one win also. u guys say payback lol comon PAYBACK one championship for one december game payback????????????

btw i think the cavs make the finals vs spurs/lakers (cant include houston they will die first round) not the celts.

  70. doug says:

I never said that was pay back Ian, it’s just one regular season game. I kind of agree with you though I think the Cavs are coming out of the east. But that spurs/laker indecision. Come on man, you know the lakers got the west locked up. But I gotta give it to you guys, you guys are starting to heat up. You can’t completely fall asleep on the Spurs, they know what it takes to win.

  71. KanDMan says:

Can’t tell me the Celts didn’t want this game…come on they wanted to win 20+ in a row and a win over LA in LA on XMas would have been huge. That being said, how come we didn’t see KG mouthy off to anyone yesterday. Where was all his fake bravado. And King James and his Knights of the RoundBall are playing great, but damn the refs screwed the Wiz….

  72. isotope says:

If we all listened to Ian, the Spurs will win the championship, TD the MVP, Pop coach of the year, Bowen def player of the year, and Manu 6th man of the year. lol

  73. it aint easy being green says:

@ doug - not a renewed celtics fan, just havenet been up on dime till a few months back, I would be insulted but unfortunately thats the case with a lot of the fair weather fans here (which dont make sense to me cuz no other boston team has that problem) Ive hated kobe way before he was raping girls. I just think that it might have gone down a little differently in Boston, with the 2nd unit running the O through ray-ray, and a defensive answer for Pau or a lock-down defender off the bench, but hey, it was a good win, Im not taking anything away. We cant win’em all but god willing come june, we’ll see if im right.

  74. nike says:

In honor of Tony Allen, here is my All-Knuckle Head, All-Idiot-what-in-God’s-name-is-he-thinking Team

G - Tony Allen. Probably the MVP of this team.
G - Deshawn Stevenson, and his “hand”
F - JR Smith. He just shot another three as you read this
F - Gerald Green, because he never really left high school
C - Andray Blatche, have you seen him play? *Bill Walton* “Terrible, just terrible”

  75. Celts Fan says:

    exactly, I don’t want 20 in a row, just 2…

  76. doug says:

why must you bring up rape allegations? Wasn’t that in like 2004.It’s 2008 uncle rico lets deal with what is. We beat yall, your key player got traded to new orleans. Trust that’s going to come back to bite you guys, Posey was the key to that series. Because fat paul pierce wasn’t trying to get winded on D so he wasn’t sticking Kobe. Kobe was mostly being played by Posey and than Kobe would come down and have to play D on Pierce so he was being gaurded by your best perimeter defender and on the other end he was gaurding your best player. Now you guys can’t be as honest on D, which is why Pau was open alot and making you guys pay. Last year posey was pretty much playing Kobe one on one.

  77. doug says:

Kan D Man,excellent point,”how come we didn’t see KG mouthy off to anyone yesterday. Where was all his fake bravado”.KG is fugazi, I’m telling you he doesn’t talk mess to teams he respects he only goes hard at little point gaurds and defenseless fans. I’ve lost so much respect for him. This is the first game I haven’t seen him talking trash.

  78. rangerjohn says:

ok for all those “dont get excited its just one wn over the suns” guys, remember its still december, the spurs have been short key players, they are working in new players into new roles, and manu is not 100% yet. duncan is averaging 35 minutes (and is # in the l in double doubles), finley is still hitting those open shots everyone keeps giving him, parker is still getting into the lane at will, roger mason, and matt bonner are #3 and 4 in 3 pt%.

you guys go ahead and keep sleeping, the spurs WILL bite somebody.

oh and one more thing, ITS STILL DECEMBER 2008, there is still a lot of games left i mean hell 53 games left for the spurs to “gel” keep sleepin on them.

as for last years playoffs, the spurs had by far the hardest route to the finals, and played with a SERIOUSLY injured manu for the entire playoffs. no excuses, the spurs got beat, but no team is unbeatable and i like the spurs chances every year they have duncan an/or pop

  79. QQ says:

    it aint easy…

Why do I have this funny feeling that you just become a Celtic ‘fan’ when you saw Garnett and Ray Allen hoist up their green jersey the day they were signed by Boston?

It’s just a feeling I guess. I really hope you’re a true fan cause damn, there are too many assholes who hopped in the bandwagon, it’s crazy.

And to those guys: HAVE FUN IN THE LAKERS WIN.

  80. doug says:

you have that funny feeling because he is that dude you think he is,it aint easy wasn’t cheering for the celts prior to the trade. I just get that feeling. He has the zeal of a man who just hopped on the bandwagon.

  81. baron von faulk says:

Spurs/Cavs Finals 2009, well if Ginobili can get healthy.

@Doug, don’t be too cocky about LA beating SA last season, Manu got hurt badly in the N’awlins series (ankle) and the refs were letting Sasha Sassoon rake his ass on a reach every time with no foul call, made Vujacic look like Bruce Bowen or somebody and we know he don’t have defense like that.

Just sayin’…gotta respect the Spurs man, they ain’t too old to win, that’s just crazy to dismiss a team with Tim Duncan on it (Pau gonna hold him down? Bynum? haha, okay). And yes, Roger Mason will help them win a game or two in the playoffs as well.

    Yep, Roger…Mason…yet another clutch Spur (Timmy’s rebounds and D, Manu’s drives and FT’s, Parker’s mid-range J and assists, now Mason’s 3-ball)

  82. baron von faulk says:

I gotta repost this from the Christmas blog, I want an answer, hehe

    . . . . . . .

Why in the hell are dudes (Brandon Roy, Amare, et al) puttin’ “lines” in their head again? I thought that fad died with Rob Van Winkle. Are these guys going to the Drew Gooden School of Fashion or somethin’ bringing back the 80’s crap?

Next thing ya know dudes are gonna be wearing the De la Soul neon green/pink/yellow wildin’ ass jumpsuits and havin’ the Box Fade thing (Kid N Play style!), wearing jeans backwards like Kris Kross…I could go on

  83. QQ says:

The only real fan that I’ve seen here in this site is CeltsFan. I remember him talking bout Boston when they were the worst team two years ago. Son was legit, I remember thinking ‘CeltsFan? This shit of a team has real fans?’. I ain’t a poster yet, just a reader.

But now DAAAAAAAAMMMMN. I would surprise me if people are NOT a fan of this team. It’s ridiculous.

  84. doug says:

yeah Celt fan is legit, It aint easy we see through you. Baron Van Faulk all i’m hearing out of you is a lot of excuses, we dominated you who cares if Ginobli wasn’t 100%. Who is a 100% at the time of the season. Where should I start with our squad as far as injuries, Kobe has a had torn ligament in the pinky on his shooting hand for about a year and a half and he hasn’t had surgery and has played 82 games.Bynum was injured when we played you guys in the playoffs and Ariza was just coming off an injury. If those cats were healthy we would have swept you guys, be easy Van Faulk. We man handled you guys.

  85. baron von faulk says:

Doug, you are so misaligned, go ahead and sleep on the Spurs, ya foolish cocky dude ya.

Remind me, how many rings does your boy Kobe have in the last 5 years? Because I am still enjoying watching the Finals DVD’s of ‘03, ‘05, ‘07…are you enjoying your 2008 WCF memories as much as that? Doubtfully, sir

I get nearly as much satisfaction from the Spurs winning as the egotistical Hollywooders losing and Fakers fans like you having to eat crow. I bet losing in the Finals last season hurt worse than the Spurs losing in the WCF, innit?

Enjoy your 2009 pretender status while it lasts, byebye now

  86. KanDMan says:

    baron von faulk,

I live in Phx. (Hate the Suns Huge Laker fan). Amares sense of style is beyond crazy, as for the lines in his ‘frohawk, I’ve seen dude out before and some of his “outfits” are just bizarre. He is wlaking proof that money can buy style!!!

  87. KanDMan says:

    baron von faulk,

I live in Phx. (Hate the Suns Huge Laker fan). Amares sense of style is beyond crazy, as for the lines in his ‘frohawk, I’ve seen dude out before and some of his “outfits” are just bizarre. He is walking proof that money can’t buy style!!!

  88. it aint easy being green says:

anyone questioning my fanhood can eat a dick, i been here, grew up in the old garden, and watched countless losses in hope. I finally have somthing to be happy about and you fucking haters try and take it away from me in a fashion only a homo, LA, eurotrash/rapist fan would….. …..on the fucking internet. Well, imma continue cheering into june no matter whos on the floor. Man it aint easy being green.

  89. Ian says:

    doug
i wasnt sayin YOU heheh i meant lakers fan (not all of course) were all this is gonna be payback.
comon we can get excited u know our team was kinda shitty we starting roll thats why and u know how much we love doin that shit to the suns.

    isotope
????? im sorry if me sayin the spurs had a chance to win (something ull never say about your rockets with tmac as the man) brings out all that bs
but u know whats funny all that crap u posted has happened

  90. QQ says:

Wow. A highly intellectual response from a ‘true’ fan.

    Okaaaaaaaay.

  91. baron von faulk says:

Say hello to Doug folks, hypocrisy at it’s finest…

“as a matter of fact it’s the SPURS fault we didn’t take the Celts serious going into the FINALS, the way we man handled you guys gave us an unsafe swagger”

“all i’m hearing out of you is a lot of excuses,”

    . . . . . . .

Now I know you were joking and just throwing a dart at Spurs fans, but now I just have to joke back at ya.

Lakers were obviously the better team in 2008, there synergy was amazing, juggernaut offense. At least until they ran into a Celtics buzzsaw…

Which proves the old addage, Defense wins Championships.

And that reason alone my friend is why the Spurs will always have a chance to win the title as long as Duncan is a primetime player, the man gets it done no matter how you look at it.

  92. K Dizzle says:

How come nobody was crappin on Doc Rivers and Tony Allen during the 19 game win streak (except maybe Celts Fan - I remember you askin for him to be glued to the bench lol) It was a tied game with just over 2 minutes left so Tony Allen messin up didn’t really affect the end of the game. How come Tommy Thibodeau ain’t catchin some heat? He’s the defensive genius who decided that Pau wasn’t gonna beat them so leave him open…oops.

I think dudes need to relax on the Hornets. All the sudden, CP3 is a scrub cuz they lost a game? C’mon now.Orlando ain’t 30 points better. Peja makes a huge difference; any world class shooter would. There was no space for CP3, no open 18 footers for West and no oops to Chandler cuz Peja wasn’t there to space and Posey wasn’t hittin.

One more thing, what Laker fans are tryin to say is that we got to the Finals thru the Spurs, who had a gimpy Manu, easily, with KB’s torn finger, without Bynum and a fresh off the shelf Ariza and then got dominated inside and out by the Celts, who had PJ doin work inside and Posey, who did everything. Well now, we’re better and whole(gonna need Farmar back), the Spurs still have a gimpy Manu(dude didn’t look right the whole game except for like a couple big plays but he ain’t close to 100% and the Celts didn’t do anything to replace vital bench cogs. It wasn’t just a game in december, it was a mental block that we needed to get over cuz we did get 40 pieced in game 6….If u ain’t feelin that, ask Phoenix how they feel about beatin the Spurs…

  93. isotope says:

Ian that was the whole point. lol. I should have added Parker as Finals MVP but i was slipping. (Thats just cold the way you keep bashing the Rockets and TMac. lol I think they have a better chance to make it out this year tho) I dont think any team scares their opponents like the Spurs do. You could be up 20 on them in the 4th and u teams still tripping scared of a comeback. lol

  94. Ian says:

i have to bash the rockets lol u prob wont give a fuck if i say the celts suck
u did it to me in the 90s is my turn now let me enjoy this because i dont know what gonna happen to the spurs after 2010

  95. isotope says:

lol I’ll let you enjoy it once u stop throwing the ‘never got out the 1st round’ in the Rockets/TMac fans’ face.

  96. Ian says:

    LOL ok my bad
i personally dont think tmac is that great but if u guys dont get out this season damnn bro is never happening and i can bash again. deal??? i leave u alone till after the first round in fact ill be quiet u imagine if its the spurs u guys eliminate in the 1st round lol. that would be an awesome tell me how my ass taste from u to me

  97. isotope says:

honestly, i must be totally out of it cuz “how my a$$ taste” is one of the gayest statements ever. So, you would never hear that from me.

But I would take a friendly wager.

Yeah after this season we lose Artest and we have just 1 more year with TMac and Yao might be ready to try some other team. We need this year to be the year!

  98. Ian says:

    LOL
u know what i meant with the shaq comment hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

    ok the wager is on
no more tmac/houston bashing till the playoffs

  99. isotope says:

    lol

Its on. And you’re safe with ur insanely pro-spurs comments till the playoffs. I’ll bite my tongue.

  100. Ian says:

lol ty but doug will bash my comments anyways hehehehe

  101. isotope says:

just found out Artest is out against the hornets 2nite. sigh. David West was killing the Rox last year.

  102. BROGDEN says:

Coulda swore it was Kareem. Look, it’s a memory in my had as a lil’ kid, may be wrong. Magic and (INSERT OTHER 80′S LAKER STARTER HERE)!

Spud and Dominique had some higlights too. I DEFINITELY remember THEM. (I remember ’cause I had a sense of pride about Spud ’cause he’s short, I’m short, ya know - Don’t laugh. I’m SERIOUS) Shout out to Bugs

  103. BROGDEN says:

OOPS. That was supposed to go on the alley oop board. Ignore.

  104. rangerjohn says:

ok here is the thing that is bugging the shit out of me, kobe didnt injure his finger 1 1/2 yrs ago, it happened around the all-star break last season, so not even a full season. (damn get your shit right doug) and bynam/ariza (who came in injured part way through the season) are not the impact player that manu is. so saying kobes finger and bynam and ariza out is not the same thing. if bynam or ariza where even REMOTELY a 1,2, or a 3rd scorer then sure, but manu was the leading scorer, and the #2-3 4th quarter scorer in the league, and you lakers fans are compairing his impact to bynam and/or ariza? your nuts!!!

but hey that was last year. this year the lakers look OK, they looked GREAT the 1st couple weeks and they look lost some times lately. now my spurs looked like hammered dog shit the 1st couple weeks, and they are on their way back. once again it is just december, and last i looked the “old boring spurs” are not al that far behind the lakers and currently the 2nd best record in the west.

and all that with paker missing 3 weeks, manu missing 4 weeks, duncan averaging 35 min, parker avg 32.6, manu avg 25.5, bowen sitting most of every game, oberto out with a foot injury. tell me how much better would the spurs be if parker, duncan, and manu where playing 38-40 per game? well health permitting, we will find out come playoff time!

  105. doug says:

I actually agree with you Ian, I love when the Lakers beat the Suns and must admit I was pulling for that Spurs win over Phoenix. I actually respect the Spurs TD,Tony Parker, Manu. Much respect Ian. Von faulk your blowing a lot of steam, you must have spent your christmas alone and outdoors. As far as you saying, “Because I am still enjoying watching the Finals DVD’s of ‘03, ‘05, ‘07…”Again you moronic bafoon I’m enjoying what’s going on in 08 not what happened in 07 Uncle Rico. You’re getting real hung up on the past. Do you still think you can be the running back for Polk Highschool? I don’t do much reminiscing until my current squad closes there chapter, meaning when Kobe retires. When that does happen I will look at his whole career that included his three-peat 1999-2002.Yeah you remember that feat because he was killing your team on the way to achieving those. Yeah you remember the Lakers one of only three teams to ever three-peat(Bulls,Celtics). Yeah the feat you’re spurs were trying to accomplish but never could, they could never win a back to back they always need a year lay-off to reload. Three-peating is much more dominant and impressive. It aint easy your a loser, I could tell your bandwagon guy by your defensive position, coming out the gates with obscenities and expletives is a dead give away. You renewed your celtic fan membership about a year ago. We read you.

  106. doug says:

Ranger John that when he told the media that his finger was injured. That doesn’t mean that’s when it happen, at allstar break, you degenerate. Kobe is a warrior and he’ll keep those things on wraps so his opponents don’t think they have an advantage or that he’s making excuses.

  107. doug says:

I never compared Manu to Bynum,Ariza. I think Manu is a gamer, a bit of a flopper along with Vujacich, but a gamer none the less.We weren’t looking to Bynum and Ariza for offensive out put. We needed them for defense during the series. So why are you comparing Manu’s scoring to Bynum and Ariza. We can score with anyone, Phil specifically stated we need Bynum to be a defensive presence. Your fighting the wrong battle Ranger John. The only spur fan making since at this time is Ian, the rest of yall are idiots and should stop blogging until your residual moonshine wears off.

  108. rangerjohn says:

doug, yeah your right, IM the idiot/degenerate lmao. kobe kept it under wraps and thats when he told the media? your the idiot, hell i remeber watching him leave the game when it happened. try again tough guy.

and i was not the one compairing manu to ariza and bynam, apparently you cant comprehend when you read something because you lakers fans are the ones making those comparisons not me.

  109. jamesagee says:

Gasol looks like a Muppet when he gets angry

  110. doug says:

you don’t get it Ranger John, I said you were comparing Manu’s scoring to Bynum & Ariza scoring. Phil wanted Bynum healthy for defensive purposes. Check this out you watch your Spurs championship videos of years past and I’ll focus on what going on today with the rest of the world. you guys better hope you don’t see the lakers in the playoffs, we’re going to sweep your retirees this year if we meet them. Gasol does look like a muppet when he’s angry.

  111. rangerjohn says:

ok doug, i bow to your all knowing basketball knowlege! your right, i didnt understand a word you said, and you are the basketball master!!

nowback to reality, AGAIN go look it up, i was not the one making the comparison of ariza/bynam to manu, you lakers fans where. ariza is a bonified 2nd teir roleplayer, and bynam is a glorified nobody. manu is a huge part of the spurs team, it does not mater offense or defense or the reason, the 2 of those guys do not equal for the lakers what manu does for the spurs no mater how hard you try to believe it, its just not real.

and with that, i am off to a nice dinner at 1515 restaurant here on our last night in denver. enough argueing, im on vacation!

  112. baron von faulk says:

“Do you still think you can be the running back for Polk Highschool?”

That’s funny, good to see you have a decent sense of humor. Actually I am very much enjoying the current season! Since, ya know, Spurs are still contenders (contrary to popular belief).

Well I enjoyed a nice indoors Christmas watching Roger Mason cap Phoenix off, as you should have probably known. I’m with the fam right now, chillin’ bro! Mama Faulk says “Hi from Texas!” to all y’all by the way.

Anyway, the entire argument today generated from your bias saying that the Spurs are too old to compete anymore and should be dismissed already, which is probably the most ignorant assumption an LA fan can even make in my stellar opinion.

So I’m not the one that looks like a moronic buffoon here my friend. Still, it must really chap your ass that LA hasn’t won a title in like 7 years or so to be coming at me all hard like that. I don’t actually watch old DVD’s of course Uncle Rico style as you put it (funny again), my point was our rings are still pretty fresh and y’all ain’t won a gat damn thang in a minute…soooo get off the pedestal dude! Your high horse has a gimpy leg.

Like I said, enjoy your ‘09 “pretender” status ‘cuz LA is GOING DOWN yet againnnnn, muhahahahaaa

A little trash talkin’ never hurt a good rivalry, which is all we’re doing dude, talkin’ SHIT. SA/LA and SA/PHX are the top West Rivals in my opinion, BOS/ATL and BOS/CLE are the top East Rivals I would think (Detroit done fell off), and BOS/LA are the top NBA Rivals right now.

Hey, if Spurs don’t ever win another game, I’m still gonna be rocking the holy f*ck outta my guitar, livin’ the good life with the sexy lady, barbecuin’ and drinkin’ ice coldies down here in Texas. This basketball crap is an inconsequential amusement, it’s just a distraction I like to watch from time to time, as I do enjoy the silver and black attack’s success.

So you or anybody can never truly phase me with the bullshittin’ bro, it’s all in good fun!

    How about this Ranger John??

Ariza can keep Manu under 20 points no doubt.. and Spend some minutes on TP.. Now in my opinion since the spurs only have 3 real scorers i think throwing in Bynum (who has mashed on Timmy before) only throws us that much over the Spurs.. And we didnt have neither of those two when when we won in.. what 5 games??

But does anyone LOVE watching the Spurs beat the Suns as much as i do?? i think its because the Suns acted like they would get over the hump by trading for Shaq but the hump looks bigger because now they aint even contenders.. The Suns played a game as best they could.. Shaq and Amare 20-10+ and Nash almost double doubled and they STILL lost..

I just hope Phoenix makes it in as the 8 seed.. talk about a field day..

comon it was 5 games but the spurs had big ass leads in two games that maybe with manu they could have held and the non call on barry u know that manu would sell that one lol. and no ariza cant stop manu bowen cant stop kobe prince cant stop lebron artest cant stop paul and the list goes on the offensive player will win everytime.

    doug
its true only three teams have threepeats but comon how many teams have 4 rings in 9 years (4) or how many superstars (duncan) have won titles with completly diff teams (1)
so i kinda can make the same argument about the rarity of the spurs last 9 years.
and yes the lakers are the better team overall but the spurs do have a shot at them because of what i said to lakeshow and what u said about manu. ill say it if the spurs dont knock the lakers out they are in the finals for sure (sorry iso). but i sure hope we meet the suns again lol they are my fav team to watch the spurs play.

loved the uncle rico part u know i dont like the extreme insulting but that one is good

    Aye Yo Ian

Oh i didnt say he would stop Manu.. but most likely keep him from putting 20-30 pts EFFICIENTLY.. if a player scores 15-20 pts he still had a good game but im just saying we didnt have anyone to keep up with Manu but we do now..

Plus Phil happens to own Pop.. look at the head to heads..

But dont get me wrong.. the Spurs are my second favorite squad and thats all due to respect.. Tim Duncan is the best big man in the game right now and i will take Timmy in his prime over Shaq in his prime.. OK peeps lemme hear it..

  117. Peter Robert Casey says:

The Lakers are for real this year. They really exposed the weaknesses in Boston’s bench.

  118. T-Dub says:

All of these are speculation till the actual games are done.

When are the Lakers and Spurs playing? That should be something. Same thing with Celts and Cavs.
