Mutombo Could Sign With Celtics
DekeBy now, you’ve probably figured out that I love Dikembe Mutombo. Whether it’s his reality show, his signature sneakers or even his arm, there’s nothing I dislike about Deke.
That’s why I was thrilled when I read that Mutombo could sign with the Celtics as early as the day after Christmas.
While Mutombo’s return to the NBA would most likely be his final season, the 7-foot-2, 260-pound center could be exactly what the Celtics need to complete their repeat campaign. Backing up Garnett and Perkins, the four-time Defensive Player of the Year could still get it done.
”You’ll see me in the next two weeks,” Mutombo said. ”I will be somewhere. I really need to go back to playing. I’ve just got to make sure that I go to a place where I can be happy. There are about four to five teams that I’ve been looking at and about seven teams that have shown interest. It’s up to me to make my decision.”
While the Celtics already have a full roster and would have to waive someone to make room for Mutombo (ahem, Patrick O’Bryant), where do you see him signing?

Sign him Celtics. He deserves to win a ring. And it’s not like he’ll just sponge off of the team, Deke is immortal!

Word, I got that card too. I still remember when those Upper Deck cards dropped. The Mutombo and the LJ rookies were the hotness! The MJ holgrams also, too fresh.

The “voice” should be a huge asset in this year’s Celtics. He could teach KG how to be a bad ass without messing with smaller people.

is this the new trend? why not call them the Boston Charitables? I feel sorry for Celtic fans since they have to fake being a passionate about a team that was imported in for them, since the POS franchise didn’t know how to do it the real way and build their team inhouse.
F-Boston and F*** everything about them! (Yes, I hate them that much right now and I will hate them even more as we move closer to Xmas!)

If I was Mutonbo, I would go straight to Boston, can you imagine a lineup of Cassel, Ray-Ray, Pierce, Garnett, Mutombo, thats like 180 years ,,, But seriosly, Mutombo can be very effective as a backup, like Alonzo for example

i’ll hate . . i don’t care . . . had to suffer through sedale threatt, van exel, peeler, ceballos, vlade years . . . then had our time in the sun . . then suffer with smush parker, the mouth of payton, the annoyance of having malone in a laker uniform . . . now, the sun is dawning on LA once again . . . seriously, I hope another perfect storm appears and sucks all of boston into the sea . . .

I want him back in houston for several reasons.
But I’d love to see him get a ring… he’s a true profesional and an ambasador of the NBA and everything that’s good about it.

GREAT guy, I did hear he’d only play for Houston before, but who knows now. I’d kill to get him just for the interviews (and you know, not needing POB/6’7″ centers if Perk gets hurt)

this picture reminds me of this awesome Dikembe Nuggets poster I used to have – it was him standing over the Denver skyline with the mountains in the background, with each hand on a tall building on either side of him. It was awesome, wish I still had it.
