NBA Dunk Contest Dark Horse

We spotted something on one of our Twitter feeds, subtly mentioned by a Milwaukee Bucks feed that we follow, hinting that Joe Alexander might be in this year’s dunk contest.
We love it. He might not be able to take down Dwight, but you never know. Despite the fact that we haven’t heard a whole lot from Joe this season, lots of people thought he was the best athlete in last summer’s entire draft.
Who do you want to see in this year’s dunk contest?

depends on who is in it but honestly wouldn’t stand a chance against most of the leagues dunkers. He’s 6’8 and not super creative, so he would mostly get white boy points ala brent barry and bob sura. Hes not doing anything that amare couldn’t do at the same height and amare didn’t win it.

I want to see if Eddy Curry can still touch the rim. Same for Zach Randolph.

At the Raptors game on Wednesday, McRoberts was throwing down some crazy dunks in warm-ups including a 360 windmill a la VC. I know he’s not gonna be in it, but it was impressive and the only thing I’ve seen outta him since the McDonalds high school contest.

Kobeef says:
And PS
Joe Alexander? Most over-rated player drafted in the first round. No basketball skill. Period.

Bron42 says:
bantum? Fernandez? Your kidding right? Neither are great dunkers. Just cuz u can catch alleys or dunk on a fast break doesnt make u a good dunker. And crash was already in the dunk contest with the kings. I think the year desmond mason won. Bill walker is D league so hes not even eligible. Jr smith needs another chance. And beasly lost to blake griffin in the high school one

barons beard says:
JR Smith, his round-the-back dunk last time he took part was sick, somehow only got a 45!!!
Nick Young would be interesting

they should let 2 d league players in on top of the normal field. i feel like a lot of the d league is crazy athletic guys (flight white, bill walker, etc) who dont have the skills for the nba yet/ever

Rudy Gay, Travis Outlaw, Ronnie Brewer, Russell Westbrook

Diego says:
David Lee. (He won the McDonald’s HS dunk contest his year, so shouldn’t need too many “white boy points.” But tall guys generally never get to win (few exceptions: Nance, K. Walker, Dwight).)

@ bron42… Joe Alexander is 6’8″, Amare is 6’10″. Two inches makes a big difference; it can distinguish you between a SG/SF from a PF/C in the NBA.
And Joe Alexander is filthy, hopefully he can get to show it off in the SDC.
Hopefully Dwight decides to defend. And Russell Westbrook should definitely get in too. The kid is like 6’3″ and can fly.

as it is traditionally a contest for 4 players. i’ll go with:
trevor ariza
rudy fernandez
nick young
dwight howard
no more midgets! it’s really annoying that just because short men fly they win with zero creativity. nate robinson winning it over AI is bull-fcking-sht.

RUDY FERNANDEZ, LEBRON JAMES, NICK YOUNG, BIll walker

yee_69 says:
james white, aka james flight white needs to enter.
man is only 6’7 and can basically touch 13ft, missing it by a couple inches. Wade would be interesting, although i cant see him in it cus i don’t think he could do anything creative enough. maybe im worng, i just know in games he puts em down hard, but cant see anythin creative outta him. ill stay with:
James White
Andre Iguodala
Gerald Wallace
Nick Young

Alexander has bounce: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdAYyqSOuPc I don’t care if he was purple…..
Rudy is not a show dunker, and only jumps of one toe….
Dwight is too big, I would win if I was putting it down on a 8ft rim with a nerf ball…
Nate the grate for the wow factor, but if he misses 3 in a row….peace
Top three dunks that need to be broken out to avoid a boring contest:
360 behind the back (nick young you can hit that)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdTh1RPIVAU
360 between the legs (J-Rich never finished it)
540…..or better 720 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mt001pBcwjM
Happy Kwanzaa
