btw, I was just looking at ESPN.com’s Daily Dime (pushing Rondo as an All-Star!) and 40% of people (20K voted, so 5000 people) said they thought the Celtics would have a better record than the 72 win Bulls. People are fuckin dumb…

any Blazers fan not a little concerned about Oden isn’t paying attention (and the Blazers are my favorite team in the league other than the Celtics. Love watching them play, love Roy, really like Oden’s potential, but dude’s just injury prone. Some big guys just are. Hopefully it’s just coincidental, but who knows.

having said all that, you STILL have to take Oden. KD’s nice, but guys like him come around every year. He’s another 3 that can rack up buckets. Dude’s nice and could be elite, but you can always find a big time scorer. When you get a chance at a game-changing center, you take it and hope he can stay healthy.

#AB – I kinda see what he’s saying. AT some point you need a perimeter defender and there are plenty of scorers on that team. No one’s saying Outlaw’s anywhere close to as good as Durant (he’s obviously not) but he may be a better fit for this team. MAY…

@BEdger: I’m not convinced. your opinion is what it is and we can’t know who is right until a year or two from now, but i just don’t see it. durant as the first and only option in Seattle/OKC has been pretty nice.. imagine him on an actual basketball team like the blazers. and the imagine the blazers trading outlaw + one of their young guys for a veteran big guy (i’d say rasheed wallace but him and blazers probably won’t do round2) and you have a championship contender this season.

i hope oden works out honestly bc he’s good for basketball, but i just can’t help but think that passing on durant will haunt you guys for a long time.

yes…really….we aren’t worried. I would bet if KP was called by Sam Presti TODAY and offered KD for Oden, KP would simply say “no thanks” and hang up. Oden already has an enormous effect on the game without any offense in his game and while still being a step slow defensively.

To all of you who think the Blazers made a huge mistake in that draft, tell me where do you think KD would fit on the Blazers? Roy is our lead dog and scoring machine, would KD make a good 2nd banana? Would he be happy getting the 3rd most shots behind Roy and LMA? Would he be the defensive stopper the Blazers are looking for at the 3 spot? NO NO NO

Oden brings defense and rebounding, the 2 things this Blazer team has been desperate for. He is what the Blazers needed and Blazer fans are happy to have him here

really? blazer fans aren’t worried that Oden has been perpetually coming off injuries since ohio state? if you guys aren’t worried about that then you gotta share some of that west coast bud.

once you get off that high maybe you will see the reality: you passed on Kevin Durant to take a guy who may or may not become as good as young Dikembe Mutombo.

Kobeef…maybe you should stick to talking about your favorite team because Blazer fans aren’t at all “scared” of these stupid Bowie comments. Lopez might be better today, but Oden is coming off of MAJOR SURGERY, why doesn’t anyone factor that in? The only time it gets brought up is when he is called injury prone. Look at Amare when he first came back from the same operation, he had no lift or explosiveness, but look at him now. Why wouldn’t Oden get his athleticism back too?

Call me in 2 years, if Oden is still having trouble then by all means, you can call him a bust. I just have a feeling nobody will be making that call
