NBA Trade Rumor: Javaris Crittenton to the Wizards?
Javaris CrittentonThe Wizards have explored trade options to give them some much-needed help at point guard. They’ve talked with Memphis about getting Javaris Crittenton in exchange for the conditional first round pick that Washington originally got from them in the J.C. Navarro trade.
If they’re able to pull the trigger on this deal, Crittenton’s salary will put them over the luxury tax, forcing Washington to get rid of either Dee Brown or Juan Dixon’s partially guaranteed deals. That’s a tough cut, but odds are it’d be Brown.
I feel like this move falls in line with what the Wizards have done since Ed Tapscott has taken over for Eddie Jordan - and it’s clearly worked. After Jordan was fired, both Tony Kornheiser and Mike Wilbon trashed Abe Pollin and the Wizards for getting rid of the most successful coach in their franchise’s history. But watching the team play both before and after the firing, it’s obvious that Jordan’s methods weren’t working. That’s putting it nicely.
Under Jordan, Washington shot 43.6% or under as a team in eight of eleven games. Since Tapscott has taken over, they’ve shot 49.4% or greater as a team in five of eight.

Richard Wellner says:
How is this going to help the Wizards? They suck. They shouldn’t be allowed to make trades until 2015.
On another note, they beat the Pistons. Which is something that shouldn’t happen and COULDN’T happen when they had Billups.
Iverson is a cancer.

As a Wiz fan, I would love to see them get Crittenton. But not at the expense of that pick. I don’t know the conditions on the pick, but Memphis’s pick will probably be very high.

I hear that the hornets are involved in this deal as well where they will be getting Antonio Daniels in exchange for Mike James

Heckler says:
I really do not see how this helps either team.
here is what the WIZARDS should do:
make a trade for a low post defensive presence. the clippers have marcus camby and chris kaman. they don’t need both. WIZ should make a push for whichever is most readily available.
they need toughness too. what about them reaching out to danny fortson to come off their bench?…if they can find him.
as for the backcourt help…they should get a point guard who can start now and share the court with Arenas when he’s back healthy.
they should go after kirk hinrich from chicago. in addition….they should also look into adding steve francis

Interesting… but if Memphis can make this happen it will be great for them. They have a young core and another high first round pick would be an excellent addition. If they pick up a solid 4, we might see a team develop sooner than we thought.

those shooting percentages are wasted stats after only 8 games.
didnt chicago put up great offensive numbers after scot skiles was fired? the players rejoiced for 2 weeks; then fell back to reality.
c’mon. give us a break on shooting %’s after 8 games; as if they are an omen to anything. we aint buying it….

This is apparently going down with the Hornets and Wizards exchanging Mike James for Antonio Daniels as well. (Which I love– James was riding the bench.)
