Nike Exclusive: Mike Campbell Hyperdunk
The King of NY’s KicksNew York City is the Mecca of basketball. From Madison Square Garden to Rucker Park, basketball is king on the streets of NYC. So much so that Nike holds the Tournament of Champions, which crowns one undisputed champion of New York City by pitting the champs from each of their premiere summer basketball tournaments; Nike Pro City, Tri-State Classic, West 4th, and Dyckman against each other.
Nike also crowns an MVP of the Summer. This award goes to the guy who did his thing all over NYC during the summer circuit. Last summer NYC legend Mike “The Icon” Campbell led his X-Men squad to victory in the ’08 Nike T.O.C., crowning them the best team in the City. Mike also known as, “Mr. Smooth” and his most famous moniker “The King of NY,” tore up the summer. Campbell got busy against NBA players like Ron Artest and Al Harrington playing in Nike’s Pro City league and got mad buckets at West 4th where his team took home the ‘chip
The King of NY’s KicksTo honor Campbell, Nike flew him out to Portland, Oregon to design his own Nike Hyperdunk. Campbell received the red carpet treatment, the same treatment Kobe and LeBron receive when they hit One Bowerman Drive. This is the first time that a basketball player not in the NBA was offered these type of services. Mike met with Nike’s lead designers who picked his brain so they could come up with the color and logos for his signature kicks.
Don’t ask when these are dropping because they are super exclusive. Word is that there were only 20 made for Mike. What do you think?

yo vin stop hating, new york city got more history of basketball than any other city. Back then alot of players in the league used to be from New York be it Queens or Brooklyn. Don’t forget where the greatest basketball player of all time was born at… Brooklyn, New York.

not hating @come on son-i’m from jersey so i appreciate city bball. BUT-i dont know if present day ball in other places isnt just as good! greatest? Kareem?

come on son says:
now other places match or exceed the number of nba players that new york produces, but the fact that ball got more of its stlye out here in nyc and spreaded is why it’s the mecca. Kareem was nice but i think Jordan was a better overall player shooting, posting up, and driving it in. where Kareem used to dominate with the hoook shot.

Mike”Get it Done” campbell is a great representation of what New York basketball is all about. Great to watch play. One of my favorite players on the circuit. A pure winner and would have been a great N.B.A player given a chance. I don’t know who’s in charge of scouting but the league as whole just doesn’t have players you can relate to. To much of the talent is overlooked due to whatever the reason. It’s sad because I feel people are being deprived. Take for instance when the warriors made their run. It felt good because they weren’t a politicall correct team. I no everything is spreading globally and financially. Let’s go back to the basics and I’m sure everyone would love. Smooth had an incredible summer. Shout outs to M.Glover,T2,Cab driver,Antifreeze,JHi,Showtime,B.jennings,Kemba for making it a great summer in NYC

lol. congrats mike on your accomplishments. you are the truth my g. i agree with your man. they should add an l.i.u. and parkwest flavor to your collection. those sneakers are hot my g. damn u are first non- nba player to receive this type of treatment. kudos’ see u next summer.

Big ups to Mike C. on the sneakers… they are definitely fuego. They have to be released it would be tragic for them not to be. Jordan was only born in NY.. never spent a year there… mom went into labor on a visit. Jordan got his game in NC. All that being said NY is the mecca of b-ball.
