Should Mo Cheeks Be on the Hot Seat?
Mo CheeksWith coaches getting fired left and right, should the one guy whose team has underperformed as much, if not more than any other team in the League, be feeling the heat?
Right now, Mo Cheeks’ Sixers are half a game behind the Knicks and the Bulls, and they’re trailing the Heat by 2.5. They’re 10th in the East with Toronto and Milwaukee nipping at their heels.
But some sources close to the situation have told ESPN.com that Cheeks’ job is relatively secure given the current climate. In some ways, that can be attributed to the extension that he received this summer.
“Sources close to the situation insist that Mo Cheeks has more job security in Philly than the current climate for coaches [and] a 1-5 slide entering the weekend would suggest.”
But the money that they committed to Cheeks is nowhere near the same ballpark of what they owe to Elton Brand and Andre Iguodala now. The dollars could dictate where the blame is placed.
No matter what Cheeks’ salary is right now, there are some problems with this team that need to be addressed by the coach. Despite the talented offensive weapons at small forward (Iguodala, and Thaddeus Young) and power forward (Brand), Philly lets their point guards pull the trigger a lot. They’re third in the League in field goals attempted by a point guard right now at 20.2 attempts per game behind the Spurs (20.9 FGA) and the Clippers (20.3 FGA).
* The only reason San Antonio is so high in that category is because their entire system was thrown out of whack when Parker and Ginobili were hurt. None of their stats are accurate at this stage of the season.
With the Sixers standing at 9-12, do you think Mo Cheeks should be on the hot seat?

Igoudala should be called out. So should Willie Green and his fat contract/disappearing act. And what in the hell is wrong with Dalembert. Seems the mantra in Philly is, get paid…stop working.

Maybe since Philly got that long awaited championship (baseball) to their city… the Sixers dont feel the need to compete anymore.

It’s more like they’re fighting with Toronto and Milwaukee, seeing who can suck less.

Give him til the All-Star break – they’re putting together a few pieces that aren’t used to each other.

I watched Cheeks coach the Blazers and now the Sixers. Cheeks seems to take about half a season to figure out what he’s doing and his teams play a lot better in the 2nd half.
That being said, I think he should be in the hot seat because the Sixers should be much better than they are- Iggy needs to find his game or get benched, Dalambert is definitely not earning the “beast” nickname, Brand is under-performing, and it looks like that Willie Green break-out is never going to happen.
I’m skeptical Cheeks can bring this team to the next level.

he should not be on the hot seat; he should buy a ticket to sit in the stands. how can there be no difference between having reggie evans or elton brand?
