Tayshaun Prince Talks About the Iverson Trade

With Rasheed Wallace mumbling to himself and scaring everyone who wears a press pass, and with Allen Iverson pouring over the stat sheet before jumping in the shower, the media flocked to Tayshaun Prince in the locker room following yesterday afternoon’s loss to the Knicks.

Even though Tayshaun’s comments might seem a bit inflammatory, I should make one disclaimer: he didn’t sound pissed off. It didn’t feel like he was giving some speech to spark his team. It just felt like he was kind of upset, and maybe even a bit worried about why things haven’t really clicked yet.

“Yeah, it’s taking a long time to get out of this,” said Tayshaun, “which is mind-boggling because we do have a veteran group… When you make a trade, you want that guy in training camp with the team. You wouldn’t think that it’d take a team this long. You’d like to think 15 games is enough time, but it hasn’t been. But, maybe 15 games isn’t the problem. Maybe it’s our energy level. It’s there throughout the game, but not when we get started.”

Once AI finally got out of the shower, he avoided all talk about the trade – instead choosing to focus on Tayshaun’s point about the team’s energy.

“We get paid a lot of money to come out here and perform, a lot of money to play to our highest ability,” said AI. “There’s no reason for anyone not to bring it all.”

    Wow…wow…wow….

    I don’t blame Iverson…for the Pistons woes..

    I blame each individual….the coach can’t play for you…

  3. Richard Wellner says:

I DO blame Iverson. Pouring over the stat sheet? Who does that?? Typical of Iverson.

It’s no coincidence that this team fell apart when he got here, and it will improve greatly once he is gone, too.

Why do people keep complaining about posts they think are irrelevant?!? You know you come here every other time you open your web browser in hope that something has been posted. Maybe that’s why your complaining, you get all excited just because there’s a post and then you realise it wasn’t much to be excited about. Let the Dime team post what they want to and you filter it out because the rest of us may like it.

    Keep posting Dime!

  8. JCARR says:

The whole pistons crew who in the past years perfermed so well has all of the sudden hit a wall and dont seem to know how to overcome it. Their squad is full of veterans (sheed, ai, mcdyess, rip, and so on) All the young guns’ in the group are not performing like they are supposed to. Stuckey??? amir johnson??? jason maxiell??? That’s the pistons mere future, so its time to either trade or get use to loosing

  9. tim says:

Mcdyess comes back tuesday! That is gonna change some things…Also look for a lineup change with Stuckey in the starting lineup…

  10. tim says:

Maybe that means Iverson will become a 6th man, playing starters minutes….and torching seconds strings all night long!

  11. dmitry of jersey says:

the problem is AI. every team he plays on has a chaotic offense that makes it hard for the players to succeed. this was fine when the East was really weak and AI was in his prime (i.e. Philly when they got to the finals) but it’s not good enough with an older AI and a stronger east. AI might not be selfish but his style of play screws up the flow of the game and takes his teammates out of it.
