The Bulls’ “Vote For Derrick Rose” All-Star Campaign
D-RoseIf Jose Calderon is going to be an All-Star then there’s definitely no room on the roster for Bulls’ rookie PG Derrick Rose. But right now I know that I’d vote for Rose over Calderon. In fact, I’d vote for Rose over every other PG in the East right now except for Devin Harris.
A day after Rose was named the conference rookie of the month, the Bulls broke out the ”Vote for Derrick Rose” signs Tuesday, encouraging fans to help make him the first Bulls player to make an all-star team since Michael Jordan in 1998.
The team likely will soon begin a rookie-of-the-year campaign for Rose, similar to the ”Brand X” soap boxes filled with all things Elton Brand the Bulls sent out when he was the No. 1 pick in 1999.
Whether the signs influence voters is besides the point. Right now, do you think that Derrick Rose deserves a spot on the All-Star team?
As we’ve said in the past, the game is so much better when both teams have a legitimate point guard running the show so that everybody gets involved in the action. Otherwise, it just ends up as guys taking their turn going one-on-one on every possession.

Give him the All-Star jersey now and tell him he has only one thing he has to do during the All-Star game.
Cross someone up again like he did Miller.
Dude ain’t got to score, don’t even have to play D (in the All-Star game they never do). Just cross someone up And-1 style and have them lookin like it’s their first time on skates and he has given the people what they want.
Yea for the East most def. All Star, not in the Weeeest though.

The East PG All-Star race is between Harris, Calderon and Rose and NO ONE ELSE!

I agree with this statement 100%…and Calderon is the better legitimate point guard. Honestly I haven’t seen much of Rose yet but, from what I have seen, he looks to beat his man 1-on-1 an awful lot for a player that’s supposed to be running the offense and setting up his teammates…and it shows up in his stats.
Rose’s AST/TO = 2.0
Calderon’s AST/TO = 4.9

I go with Devin Harris and then Calderon. Truth is Devin Harris should be the only PG to make the all-star game. Might as well just take 4 guards and that’s it. Harris, Wade, Joe Johnson, and Vince.

Rose over calderon… tough call. I like rose and how he hasnt been below expectations and calderon has just turned into one of the best floor leaders in the NBA. Rose is flashy and get his while getting others involved, but calderon lets his game do the talking.
As of right now Calderon–>Rose–> Harris———> Rondo.

dagwaller says:
Good for a rookie, but not an All-Star. As AK pointed out, the game is only as good as the PG, and Rose is a shooting guard that brings the ball up, really. He fulfills a need on his team, which is why his numbers look so good, but then again, so did Kevin Durant’s numbers.

The only reasons the Bulls win is because of D.Rose. Period. He deserves the nod over Calderon for sure. It’ll make the Rookie Game weaker, but who cares about that?

I gotta disagree with a lot of this wait his turn earn his stripes ideal. I’m not saying Calderon or Rondo aren’t worthy but if your asking me who deserves to be on the all-star team more I’m taking rose. (Yeah I’m a Bulls fan) When you look at the importance of those players on their respective teams it’s not even close. Would those teams be as good without their Pg’s of course not but would it be that significant of a drop off as far as the raps or celtics I doubt it. With respect to calderon the raps have way more talent than the bulls and have similar records. But I do agree with the above posters even though I don’t think he deserves it AI will get in on rep alone and Devin Harris definitely deserves to be there.

D. Rose should be on the team for sure!! I mean Jose Calderon, Luke Ridnower, Jameer Nelson!?!?!. C’mon vote for D.Rose, he is probably the most exciting PG in the east hands down and will be for years to come!
