The Celtics are Starting to Behave

The Celtics‘ behavior, particularly the antics of KG, has earned them a rep for running their mouths and has landed them on lists of the NBA’s top villains and earned them invites to The Ballplayer Haters Ball.
But CelticsBlog and the Boston Herald say that the Celtics are now talking less smack.
Be it the Knicks’ Quentin Richardson, the Wizards’ DeShawn Stevenson or the Hawks’ Al Horford and the ever-game Pachulia, trash-talking the champs has become a league pastime.
That’s difficult considering that Rivers has finally convinced his own players that talk is cheap and unnecessary.
“It figures,” the coach said. “We’re talking less, but the talk hasn’t stopped.”

If a man talks shit, you beat them so they can’t talk shit. If you can’t beat them, you gotta take it. You can call them bitches for being poor sports, but you still gotta take it. So it goes.
So yeah, they might be bitches for talking shit, but what can the rest of the L do but try to beat them and shut them up? I’m just hoping the Lakers can do it.

Three I totally agree.
Forget behaving. Let them dudes talk. All except Eddie House…I don’t like him. I really don’t know why but I don’t like him.
Anyway as long as dudes ain’t swinging at you they should be able to trash talk and like Three said, usually it only really gets to the players or teams that are losing and can’t do anything about it.
Case in point using college football. Last year my squad Georgia went and hopped all around like some nuts on Florida’s turf and beat them.
What did Florida do for response, came back this year and beat the piddly snot out of Georgia and I don’t think anyone of them Georgia boys was hoppin at all this year.
Let the trash talkin stay for all who can back it up!
Except Eddie House…I don’t like him.

Okay, so Paul Pierce makes a throat slitting gesture and no one says anything about it. But when KG gets down on his hands and knees on defense–something HE’S DONE IN THE PAST AND IT DIDN’T BOTHER ANYONE–Dime Mag and others jump on it and call it “intimidation tactics”? I said it before: the media and casual fans see what they want to see.
But since we’re getting into the subject of trash-talk, I hope people noticed the subtle off-court jab that KG threw in there: “This is not a rivalry, and I want that on the record…You have to win some games first. But they’re a very good team.” Fun stuff. You have to think that was an intentional little knife twist. Obviously, KG knows the score. Atlanta HAS won games, but he’s saying it hasn’t amounted to anything. Just like the Yankees could validly say (esp. before 2004) that there was no real “rivalry” between them and the Red Sox. Reminds me of the way Shaq always dismissed the “rivalry” between the Lakers and Kings.
KG doesn’t care if other teams get psyched up to play the Celtics. Why? He honestly and completely believes that Boston’s the better team. And he knows a lot of teams self-destruct by being so fixated on the C’s rather than doing their own thing. Win-win situation.

I don’t remember Pierce making a throat-slitting gesture, but if he did, he should be fined by the NBA. David Stern made a rule against that gesture like ten years ago, when Greg Foster did it against the Lakers and caused some tension between the Lakers and the Jazz.

maybe he’s talking about that so-called “gang sign” he put up during a game and did get fined for.

@GEE — About the Georgia/Florida thing: What was the story behind that? The coach supported them in doing it, right? I heard he actually told them to do it. True?

who cares if they talk smack. basketball is all about humiliating and demeaning your opponent, that’s what makes ball fun. In the NYC playgrounds, tell me one guy that does not talk smack.
All the all-stars in the league have belittled their opponents at least once during their time.
One of the reasons the spurs are boring is because they never do this kind of stuff.I hope the celts don’t “behave”, they have earned it, and let them enjoy it.

Nobody can hang with the ceez! Think about Michael, Magic, and Larry people. You can’t be serious with all this. RAJON is owning you right now, I went to sleep last night wishing I was him. Perk can’t be stopped, do somethin! I know I should get used to the hate, but did you ever not like Ray’s game? G’s? P’s? I wake up everyday and thank God this happened. Russell was better than KG at his position but wasn’t able to do some of the things that Kevin is doing. Rondo is 22, he will haunt the league for a long time! Oh yeah, Tony Allen is better than James Posey, he just doesn’t know it yet.
