The NBA’s Nastiest Crossover
After watching Derrick Rose floor Andre Miller in one of the nastiest crossovers I’ve seen in years, it got me thinking: Who has the NBA’s nastiest crossover? Check below for research and inspiration.
Some names that automatically come to mind are:
Allen Iverson
Baron Davis
Jamal Crawford
and even Stephon Marbury

No mention of Tim Hardaway? That video was sick though. Steve Francis was definitely up there, but out of the current crop of players I gotta give it up to Dwyane Wade.

Good job, DIME! I think we’re all in agreement that Allen Iverson is the number one at this until he retires. If I had to list ‘em, it’d be like this:
1. Allen Iverson
2. Dwyane Wade
3. Baron Davis
4. Nate Robinson
5. Deron Williams
6. Chris Paul
7. Jamal Crawford
8. T.J. Ford
9. Vince Carter (don’t sleep!)
10. Steve Nash
Honorable Mentions:
- Steve Francis
- Stephon Marbury
- Gilbert Arenas
- Derrick Rose
- Kobe Bryant
- Ray Allen

Dodge Taylor says:
Thankfully a few people have mentioned him already because it would be disrespectful not to mention the modern day originator of the crossover, Tim Hardaway.
Since he wasn’t first mentioned, I can only assume you mean present day players.

yeah i gotta give it to tim, the author of the utep two step. that was NASTY. and the only reason nate’s is so damn good is because that guy just gets so LOW on it, partly due to him being built so low to the ground.

It’s hard for me to say that Tim Hardaway is the all-time over Allen Iverson. I know, I know, the argument can be made that “A.I. is new school and people don’t remember the bodies that Timmy left in his wake.” This is true but…still.
I’d have to say it’s a tie between those two (A.I. & Timmy) all-time for “Nastiest NBA Crossovers.”
Rafer Alston…where you at?

i have to give it up to D.Rose . . . I’ve seen him play over at Staples a week or two ago and he’s one of the quickest I’ve seen come on the floor. . . . watching him mess up andre miller and other folks with his cross over, I’m going to just give him the CO crown for now . . . d.wade’s is nice, but he’s big so he can power through . . hands down, the sweetest plays in Ball are crossovers . . . the generation of dunks is over!

Until I see more, I’m having a hard time with all this D-Rose discussion. The move on Dre Miller wasn’t that good at all, it was just the fact that the old man fell over.
Plus, has Dre ever been known for his solid defence??

Beno Udrih made Kobe fall?!! That alone should end the Jordan comparisons.
December 2nd, 2008 at 10:22 am
PALakerFan says:
Best crossover? Is that based on the result of defender falling down, or player getting to the bucket? If it’s based on player getting past his man and to the bucket, you gotta mention Tony Parker. NOBODY can stop him from gettin to the rim. Also gotta throw some love to old school Kevin Johnson.

I think what ever that is Jamal Crawford does is the nastiest. No one else in the league does that. Remember how he got Hinrich last year.
December 2nd, 2008 at 2:45 pm
Kudabeen says:
If the question is the best handle of all-time, I’d have to roll with Steve Francis. He was doing some seriously nasty stuff that was legal in the League…
Best one two crossover:
Iverson – He was too quick to recover on…
Most debilitating crossover:
Tim Hardaway – he’d get his shoulder by you and get where he wanted…
The Nastiest Crossover move:
Jamal Crawford’s behind the back wrap around move is atrocious and so far unstoppable.
I think fundamentally Chris Paul is the best All-Around ball handler in the league right now. He is the crown example of what it means to have the ball on a string.
With guys like D Wade it isn’t their crossover as much as their power and foot speed that kills you…
Too many to really pay homage to…Baron, Nash, Blake, TJ, Nate, Deron, Rajon, Tony Parker, just too many…
