Vince 2, Toronto 1
Vince Carter (photo. Mannion)As the final seconds ticked off New Jersey’s 94-87 win in Toronto, one of the Raptors announcers suggested tonight’s game might have been more painful for the Raps than last month’s crushing overtime loss, in which Canadian Public Enemy #1 Vince Carter scored 39 points, hit the OT-forcing three with less than a second to go in regulation, then sent his former team home with a backwards game-winning dunk right before the buzzer.
Tonight, Vince dropped a not-so-harmful 20 points, 10 boards and five assists, but the painful part for Toronto was that they blew a 14-point lead and suffered one of their typical Sam Mitchell Era problems — getting destroyed on the boards (54-38) and giving up 26 second-chance points versus just two for themselves. The loss dropped the Raptors to 10-14.

NO WAY the Raps retire VC’s jersey! No way.
They won’t and they shouldn’t.
He quit on the Raptors, why would they even consider retiring his jersey??!

Brown says:
I believe they will retire his jersey at some point, after he’s done playing. Time heals all wounds and Raps fans will realize VC’s the best player we ever had and played on the best team in franchise history, because it doesn’t look like they’ll put a team on the floor any time in the near future that’s better than the team that lost to AI’s Sixers.
VC does own the Raps, but they’ve been getting owned on the boards for nearly half a decade and it doesn’t appear to be getting better.
