i know most people wouldn’t agree, but i don’t think he purposely stepped on homeboy’s face. it looks like he was tryin’ to get over the dude, but he misjudged the step. but the fact that he didn’t apologize after and gave his teammate a high five…that was pretty much a dick move!
could be wrong though…that’s just my interpretation!
Even if that doofus didn’t mean to step on his face and just stepped over his head. That’s still some dirty ass shit. And Chase relented way to soon. I would have had to kill a mother fucker for that.
At the very least this dude should be suspended.
If I’m the coach he’s kicked off the team. No place for that nonsense!
And took that was an accident is just ludicrous.
why would he do it & UofH was winning at that time? The guy has no history of doing anything like that, he didn’t even get a chance to say he was sorry, the guy jumps up ready to fight.
…the Sportscenter announcer had the screen image pointing the line from Aubrey Coleman’s eyes down to Chase Budinger’s head but to me, it still doesn’t look like he SAW Chase’s face.
What a thug. I hope he gets his ass-beat. At least it inspired Chase’s team to rally. I hope the coach puts the lose on that clown’s shoulders. You never, ever poke a bear with a stick.
Press charges? Come on now. That’s the biggest bitch move ever. If a man punches you in the face, you punch him back. You don’t go crying to your lawyer.
Brown…
This ain’t hockey…fighting’s more than a 5 minute penalty. If Budinger retaliates, he gets kicked ejected from the game also and his team ends up suffering just as much. I have no doubt that Chase wanted to rip dudes head off after that shit, but I gotta give him props for relatively keeping his cool. And, to be clear, I’m not really saying Budinger should press charges. I was just trying to say that this shit was more than a flagrant foul and deserves more than a suspension…maybe the school should revoke his scholarship or something.
@ whoever thinks that he didn’t mean to do it: personally, I think that he meant to do it. But even if he didn’t, even if he “misjudged the step” (you’re lying to yourselves, btw), he’s still stepping over someone else’s body. What a dbag thing to do! That would be bush league in itself.
Beyond that, his reaction made it even more clear that he was trying to diss Budinger. Low move, and I’m glad that he got ejected. Hopefully there’ll be some disciplinary action.
@ dagwaller…
relax buddy! we were just stating our opinion man. i’ve seen guys step over other guys in the NBA on more than a couple occassions.
i’m just going by what i think i saw in the tape.
Ha, sorry Blue. I’m just pissed that that would happen – a smudge on basketball. Put it this way: have you ever seen a player actually get stepped on like that? The fact that it has happened in probably ONE game out of the hundreds/thousands that you’ve watched is a pretty good indicator of the guy’s intent.
i feel you man! either way, homeboy should’ve at least apologized right after to squash it if he didn’t mean it. but yeah, that’s even dirtier than the brawl at the Palace!
Chase is from LaCosta Canyon is Northern San Diego… he doesn’t know how to fight. Now if he was from Imperial and 54th in San Diego where Dominic McGuire is from then all hell would have broken out. Chase did the right thing and saved himself an a– whooping.
1) chase is a bitch and his team is a bunch of bitches for gettin punked like that. Its like katt williams said, it might have been a dick move or maybe he just picked the right persons face to step on. shit wouldnt of went down at other schools without a brawl.
2)Press charges? wow your gay. Why not have your brother come out the stands like in the other college game while were namin bitch moves to do.
3)who woulud of thought people would be gettin curb stomped in college lol
Yes, CCB, you are right! Black people are always better at fighting than white people. And as Black Jesus pointed out, he deserved to get stepped on! Lord knows that he’s a secret racist, just like the rest of the white population!
I hear ya, Bron! Winning the game isn’t as important as being “hard” and “unbitchlike”, which is what Houston proved right there. Nothing says “I’m not a bitch” like stepping on someone’s face while they’re laying down! I bet Bron does that all the time, just so he feels manly like me! And you’re right – Budinger is a bitch because he completely wanted that guy to step on him! That’s why he didn’t move out of the way!
dude kno what the fuck ur talkin about before you mention me. chase is a soft bitch and has always BEEN a soft bitch which is why he never turned into the player people thought he would as a all american. I hate dumbasses who try to voice their opinion with no backing to it….I don’t care if your white, black, yellow, purple if a dude spits on you, punches you OR STEPS ON YOUR FACE you have every right to beat his ass. And don’t gimme the “oh he was thinkin about his team” bullshit cuz he got up fast but had no intention of doing anything which is why it barely took one guy to hold him back. Hell even if chase didn’t do anything, one of his TEAMMATES shoulda had some balls and laid him out. How you gonna let someone do that to ur “star player” I even said the houston guy did a dick move so know what your talkin about or raise ur hand when you wanna talk to me.
@ Bron42
“if a dude spits on you, punches you OR STEPS ON YOUR FACE you have every right to beat his ass.”
That’s where you’re wrong. Budinger would have gotten ejected just as quickly as Houston dude had he hit, or probably even swung at him. Maybe in your “thug life” world the above statement’s true…but I hate to tell you the courts don’t see it your way either. I’ve seen plenty of people locked up (and truly made someone’s “bitch”) because they thought the self-defense laws allowed them to retaliate for a sign of disrespect.
No, mules, Bron is right! He’s right, I don’t know him, so I shouldn’t have brought him up! From the way he talks, you can tell that he’s a tough guy. If someone “disses” you, then you are allowed to do whatever you want. And if that screws your team up, it doesn’t matter!
As I said in my first post, even if you lose, you win as long as you look tough! Because that is what basketball is all about. Thank you, Bron, for educating me.
Oh yea, and you’re right about Budinger, Bron – good thing you can read people’s minds.
this is awful yes yes if this were in africa or in timbuktu were i come from this would be a brawl yes yes a brawl as big as futbol matches the ones you stateside people watch in worlds amazing videos yes yes
i feel bad for budinger yes as ugly as he may look if i were one stepped in face i would have killed that person right in that court
For all you fools that are claiming that you’d “start a brawl right there” and are chastising Budinger for not retaliating….that’s why dude has a scholarship to play and get an education at a D1 college, and you’re left to…doing whatever the hell you do.
As mules in post 38 says, the “real world” is different from the hood ball and thug life that some of you proudly “rep.” Fortunately for Arizona, Budinger has a better brain than some of y’alls, and he opted to take the “bitch” way out, letting the appropriate bodies handle this incident, instead of “killing that person right in that court.”
No, there’s a point about pride. You might not think so but the idea of toughness and masculinity has a lot to do with basketball. Someone said it sarcastically but yeah, being tough is important, even if you lose the game. And no, it’s not at all about race (only Black Jesus was stupid enough to bring that into the conversation). Toughness is something that turns good players into great players, and lack of it is something that prevents them from doing so.
It’s also weird that his teammates didn’t do anything about it.
@mules, thuglife world? mules did I say go stab him? no, but chase could of at least got in his face. Ya’ll are so over dramatic with this shit lol These guys could of had a huge fight on the middle of the court and neither one was going to jail lol If chase had even pushed him, he wasn’t getting a one game suspension, he would of just gotten a T. And you’ve seen people locked up and literally made peoples Bitches? lol either you need to stop stayin up late and watching OZ or you need new friends. fuck out of here with that shit.
@average reader, you are either 12 years old or just a overall dumb ass. Dissing you by talkin about your mom AND STEPPING ON YOUR FACE!!! 2 completel different things. Its not about bein hard or anything like that but if I can step on your face and get away with, you have no toughness what so ever no matter if its basketball, shopping at walmart, anything and any REAL athlete will tell you that. Look at the nba when dirk gets bitched around by guys and the TV analyst were wondering why his teammates didn’t have his back. Or how yao gets bitched 24/7. has nothing to do with being from the hood, its about havin some fuckin respect for yourself. Thats common sports, if people know they can get phyical with you and you back down, ummm they will continue to get physical with you. Football, basketball, baseball, hell even tennis, thats how it works. YOu think ANYONE will back down from chase on the court now? And whats this about reading minds? when did i read his mind? by sayin he had no intention of doing shit? ever heard the saying actions speak louder than words? so by him showing NO ACTION other than getting off the ground fast, he obviously had no intention of doing anything. Dude is soft and was soft even before this happened which is why with all his mcdonalds all american hype, his game never progressed.
@knock, you didn’t say much so i’m not even really gonna bother with you, I was being sarcastic about litearally starting a brawl but trust me, it wouldn’t have just ended in that “did you just step on my face” glare that chase gave. And just like average, know your facts before you comments on someone. Considering not only have i ALSO played D1 at UNLV, have a D1 education, played ball overseas and currently work for a pro team, ya I have alil idea about what I’m talking about. So that is whatever th hell I’m doing. And hood ball? really? so by gettin in someones face, its instantly hood ball? lol your right, no white preppy kid has ever done a dirty move or got in someones face or taken a cheap shot. Its strictly hood players and thugs who do it for rep. I swear ya’ll are some of the most close minded niave people Ever. All this pleasantville biddy basketball rules that don’t apply in sports after 8th grade. Again, no one said (to my knowledge) for chase to go and shank the houston kid, but you don’t let people walk all over you, literally or just in a figure of speech, no matter if your a nba all-star or jim from the mail room.
For half of you wiht a brain out there who wanna act like its such a big deal for chase to stand up for himself and hes such a GREAT PERSON for not doing anything, tell me what would happen if during a game, someone purposely stepped on dwight howards face, or kobes, or lebrons, or tim duncan, or Kg, or chris paul or amare or shaq or even dirk and nash??? hmm? think hey would just lay there and take it? and they have WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY much more than bitch ass chase. Its not about bein tough or rugged or tryin to be another fake 50 cent, its about having some balls. Heck, kobe cant even fight and i promise you he would of at least got in someones face to prove a point that it won’t happen again. Learn the difference between “thug/hood retaliation” and standing up for yourself on a basketball court morons.
@phileus, thank you, at least someone didn’t go full retard here. His teammates def should of did something.
Bron, seriously, you’re a little bit out of line here. I see what you’re saying about being tough and all, but I’m an educated athlete too, and I know that getting thrown out of a game makes it harder to win the game. It’s not like “being tough” is going to make everyone on the other team wet their pants when you go to box them out hahahaha. And conversely, just because Dirk didn’t go knock David West out doesn’t mean that DIrk isn’t tougher than he is. I mean, I’m sure that averaging 7.1 rebounds as West is qualifies as tough somewhere…but not next to Dirk hahaha.
Being mentally tough is important, too, and Coleman’s lack of it cost his team the game. What’s more important to you in the game of basketball – your rep, or winning?
lol so not out of line but thats for talkin to me like a principal dag. Chase has always been a softy, even before this. You forget he was a top 10 recruit comin out of high school and has constantly choked on big stages. And like i said, I didn’t literally mean chase had to fight him to prove a point, but if u watch the vid, the whole thing was settled in literally5 seconds. You as a athlete and a male know, if a dude did that to you, you’d be more heated than a 5 second “oh no he didn’t” moment. I’ve had games where people did dumb stuff liek takin out my legs on a dunk or something and I popped up ready to slam him but calmed down so I understand that side. but someone stepping on my face? they’d at least get a chest to chest with a few choice words warning them not to come in the paint the rest of the game or a elbow might slip. It was never about rep, like i said before, its more about i’m not gonna let someone go THAT far o0ut of their way to disrespect me like that. name me one great nba or nfl player who that could of happened to and they woudln’t have done anything..I give chase credit for not snapping but at the same time, hes gotta do alil more than what he did. god, just imagine if someone did that to ron artest lol You all need to get out this whole “thug this” “for rep” that crap when it had nothing to do with either of those. coleman crossed the line and chase acted like it was no big deal…physical toughness does play a part…if evertime we play, and i get you in the rib each time you post up, and you don’t do anything, whats gonna stop me from doing it? you just ignoring me doin it while it throws off your game OR one time, a quick shot back at me. I’m not sayin be dirty or injure someone but don’t just take a beating from someone to “stay in the game”
p.s: ya, i def don’t think dirk is tougher than west, mentally or physically lol.
So wait…you’re saying that this whole situation would have been fine if Budinger had just jumped up and come at the guy? I mean, that’s pretty much what he did hahaha. You seriously don’t make any sense sometimes, bro.
He gets up, walks after him before an official and three other guys get in his way. So “more than what he did” in this case WOULD be to go and try and fight him. Thus helping his team lose.
And yea, if you’re putting an elbow into me every time I post, I would knock your elbow off (of me, not off of your body haha), but if you’re the type of player that’s doing that in the first place, you’re going to keep doing it regardless of whether I get tough or not.
I know I’m not going to convince you of whether or not Dirk is tough, but put it to you this way. West has NEVER played more than 76 games in a season, while Dirk has played 76 games ONCE – in 01-02 – and then in his rookie year, he played in 47. That, to me, speaks volumes about who’s tougher. Dirk = plays through injury. West = gets hurt often, or else he doesn’t play through the pain/sickness when he’s not really hurt. Throw in the fact that Dirk consistently rebounds more (a “tough” statistic, wouldn’t you say?) and I don’t really think it’s much of an argument. But I guess a little tap on the face from West is enough for you to prove that he’s a badass hahahaha.
you people are all missing a key point in this whole thing. chase buddinger is a DIRTY PLAYER! watch him play for awhile and you will see lots of cheap trips, elbows and undercuts.it was only a matter of time before someone gave him one back. although i think he only meant to kick him alittle lol

I’m not sayin be dirty or injure someone but don’t just take a beating from someone to “stay in the game”
p.s: ya, i def don’t think dirk is tougher than west, mentally or physically lol.

like i said, y do u think people would rather dunk on yao than they would shaq…toughness plays a part

And I would rather dunk on Yao, but since Shaq is too old and slow, I could just as easily shoot over top of him from outside – 2 points is 2 points.

you people are all missing a key point in this whole thing. chase buddinger is a DIRTY PLAYER! watch him play for awhile and you will see lots of cheap trips, elbows and undercuts.it was only a matter of time before someone gave him one back. although i think he only meant to kick him alittle lol
