Manu Ginobili Swats Dwyane Wade

In case you missed it, here is Manu Ginobili’s initiation to the S.W.A.T. team on Dwyane Wade last night.

What’s the best block you’ve ever seen?

i like the MJ (wizards) on Ron Mercer block when he treated Ron like his little brother and just pinned on the backboard and just brought it down! the look on MJs face was like what are u doin kid!!

  2. AB_40 says:

ben wallace on shaq… it was an uncalled foul yes I know but the block was fresh and the pics were fresher

  3. isotope says:

**waits for the “Manu is a flopper and doesnt play defence” advocates to come out of hiding**

Hakeem’s block of KJ. I know it was payback for the dunk KJ had on him.

  4. Kudabeen says:

This block wasn’t that great although it was clutch…The play was made by Tony Parker for taking out Wade’s legs…If Parker isn’t there…Wade goes hard and has a dunk, foul/and-one, or an easy reverse…

Best block I ever saw wasn’t in the NBA…It was a pick up game like 10 years ago. This 6′4″/6′5″ guy Went up for a easy lay up on the right side…This guy that was about 5′10″ (Black Al from West Philly) at best came from the left with his right hand pent the ball on the backboard, cupped the ball, came down into a dribble move around the back from right to left and pushed the rock…I’ve been trying to duplicate this every since…Just filthy…Al was nasty at 16, but got into drugs and such…One of the best I ever played with and against (college or otherwise)

  5. Kudabeen says:

    NBA dunks…

MY Two hand smash against the backboard while with the Wizards…He lost the ball and got in one of those classic “I will not lose” MJ modes and chased down the basket…Greatness…

  6. baron von faulk says:

block was wicked man, saved the game for the spurs. it looked a lot better live after watching the game go back and forth in the 2nd half. it was a huge momentum changer. then of course mason nails the j on the other end to basically ice it.

  7. Kudabeen says:

Not “MY” as in mine, but MJ’s as in Michael Jordan…

    I’m trippin’

  8. DrewBreez says:

Anytime Linas Kleiza blocks a shot is my favorite. Some players swat shots, like that Ginobili feat, while others muscle through a block. Kleiza, Wade do that.

  9. LakeShow84 says:

    Nate Robinson on Yao..

Only because Yao tried to act hurt after.. Yeah thats why he got stuffed by a midget.. LOLOLOLOLOL

  10. the_don_mega says:

    Tayshaun on reggie Miller…

  11. Kermit The Washington says:

Charles Barkley, when he caught some dude’s jumper/floater in mid air and came down with it. I think that’s a step better than pinning it against the backboard…

  12. Kermit The Washington says:

And Ben Wallace on Shaq was clean, AB_40…no foul. Assuming we’re talking about the one where Shaq fell on his back…mad clean.

  13. alimoe says:

    great block

thats alot of imagination there if parker this if wade that i mean u even ended it with a and 1 dunk comon its a great block period or i can take it even further if parker isnt there and wade goes for the dunk the admiral swats the shit outta wade that is kinda doin the same thing u did.

    iso
hakeem needed to block kj like 15 more times for it to be payback that my alltime fav dunk.

but nate on yao is the best alltime

  15. Lee says:

The MJ one was pretty good … but I remember Chris Webber in Golden state (I think) meeting a guy trying to dunk it, and just takin it off him in mid air and coming down with it cupped behind his back. I tried to find a clip of it but no luck. Does anyone else remember this ?? Think it was between ‘94 - ‘96

  16. jzsmoove says:

i am a fan of blocks/swats. i just like mano y mano blocks though rather than from the blind or weakside. but oh yeah this is still sweet.

Dont you mean Laphonso Ellis? Either way his block was the shiiiiit.

  20. doug says:

he pitched d.wades stuff, D.Wade is starting to see what Kobe has been going through the past 4 years prior to Gasol coming over. Accept D.Wade has an all-star in shawn marion, and a beast of a rookie in Beasley. Kobe had no all stars, Kwame Brown, Smush Parker, Luke Walton and sometime Lamar ODOM.

  21. K Dizzle says:

@ Kermit, I remember that Webber block…filthy. That Warrior squad shoulda been better

Is that Ginobili’s first nBA block? Where did that block come from?

My fave block, maybe not the best, was Charles Barkley in Philly, chasin down Darrell Walker I think, sends his junk, then leans over him and proceeds to spew top level smack, just screamin at him while Walker laid there, hand up, kinda smilin, but you knew dude was scared…y’all seen it lol

  22. Ian says:

    lee
    wasnt that shawn kemp??????

    doug
marion is kinda overrated but yeah he has a better team than kobe did back then.

  23. Ian says:

    k dizzle
where did that come from?? always the game savin play hehehe

  24. doug says:

What’s good Ian? Yeah I’m just not feeling them talking MVP this year with D.WADE, there trying to crown this cat for the same reasons they didn’t give Kobe that award the years nash won it. The lakers were a little better than a .500 team with bums on his side(parker, brown, walton, odom) but he was breaking all kinds of individual records. D.WADE is pretty much doing the same thing on a much lower level and not breaking any records but playing good basketball and they have a little better than a .500 team and I hear all these clowns saying MVP. This cat has a ways to go but I bet Kobe would have gladly took the squad he has now over the squad he had when he was losing to phoenix in the first round every year, he would have had one of Nash’s MVP’s with the squad D.WADE has now. I’m glad the spurs won.

  25. Kudabeen says:

    thaisito

    Huh?

Fact: It is uncomfortable to leave your feet with a player under your legs…

Fact: Wade wasn’t going in for a strong finish and released the ball as he started to brace for a fall after having his legs bumped by Parker…

Fact: Wade is one of the best finishers in the L, so if he had clearance Manu doesn’t make up the distance…

Fact: The play was really made by Parker and Manu was right on time…

    The block was just okay…period

All this imagination stuff is without basis…There are commas there…A dunk or a foul or a and-one, or a easy reverse…real simple, but I guess I have to dumb it down a little more next time…note taken…

Although all of the other ones he makes leading up to it are pretty good!

  27. jones says:

@doug. Let it go man. Wade is the best player in the league this year.

  28. B-DIDDY says:

WADE GOT FOULED! MANU TOOK ADVANTAGE NICE PLAY BUT…….

  29. Ross says:

No foul there whatsoever, by Parker or Manu.
That block was just amazing. I wish you could show the footage of the cameraman that Wade went diving into. Wade looks up towards a ref hoping for a foul, but the ref’s are too busy on the other end of the court. Wade just expects to get a foul call every time he goes to the paint.

  30. fallinup says:

    Thats how you win games.

  31. Lee says:

    Cheers Dman

    Here’s the block

More block .. Jordan on Ewing was nasty, Horace Grant on KJ for the 3peat !!

  33. Ian says:

doug bro how did it go on new years?

u know on the wade part i think hes second for the mvp (lebron first) it cant be kobe now because he has a real good team and his stats arent as good because of it. u know mvp doesnt really mean u r the best if not it woulda been since 98 duncan duncan shaq shaq shaq duncan duncan duncan kobe kobe kobe kobe then lebron next ten. u know really good players on ok teams that make the playoffs will get votes even though im kinda like on this if u r not a top three record u r out of the voting.

  34. thaisito says:

jones isnt lyin about the wade thing he has to kinda do more this year.
the mvp right now is between bron and wade with duncan and kobe a kinda distant 3rd and 4th.

    kudabeen
please dont give me that bs your second post is way different than the first one. you said a dunk and 1 please that is a fact???? manu without the ball cant catch wade with the ball cuz we all know that manu is super slow again please that is a fact????
love the last line of the post just because you sounded stupid doesnt mean you have to start shit. it was a great game saving block please stop the hate i wonder what would be your reaction if kobe did it.

  35. control says:

kudabeen post 25 is almost exactly correct. The sick thing is, as mentioned by Ross, Wade just sat around waiting for the refs to bail him out. The guy looked like the refs betrayed him, almost like they have an agreement to call a foul on any missed shot he has. If anyone suggests giving Wade an MVP award, you gotta give the refs at least 50% of it…the guy has skills, but he gets more bullshit calls in one game than most teams get in 10 games.

I’m extremely surprised that Manu didn’t do a mid-air flop somehow. 9/10 times when Manu jumps that high, he ends up on the ground until the gurneys start circling.

  36. doug says:

yeah I feel you ian. I would give it to bron. Jones D.Wade is not the best player in the L this year he plays the most minutes out of Kobe and Lebron because there teams actually win. D.Wade’s favorite player is Kobe, but you still put him over Kobe, what’s the sense in that. If you’ve heard any of his recent interviews he credits Kobe to his game stepping up another level because he use to wake up early in the morning with KOBE during the olympics and work out with him. The student is not better than the teacher Jones, wake up.

  37. Kudabeen says:

    thaisito

I don’t come on blogs to start…Ya sucka ass came at me…chill out

You aint whoopin my ass over the internet…A comma is a comma…

Stop trying to be an eThug…Doesn’t matter to me…

I’m in Philly/Delaware at Villanova about three times a week 2:30 on Saturdays…be easy…Is Manu your man or something, chill out.

    You can’t tell me what I think…I tell you…

    lame…

  38. thaisito says:

    kudabeen
you must be joking?? ethug??? did my first post insulted you??? no. you came with the dumb it down crap and you call me and ethug. i wont even mention again how stupid the first post was if it doesnt matter to you stop posting. did i talk about manu or does it sound like im defending him?? no i talking about the first post which is dumb. lets keep playing that what if game hey did you know that if jordan doesnt push off russell he gets blocked. you see how stupid it sounds

  39. thaisito says:

no idea where you got the kicking your ass thing even if wwe were face to face talking about this crap you think ill start shit over it?

  40. Ian says:

    doug
bron will get it because of the real good record and kobe is better or course than wade but wade is a top 5 player imo of course and will be runnerup if shit stays the same u know kobe has a good supporting cast and duncan got his boys back also so that will take stats and playin time away from them. have u seen the crap lebron plays with heheheheh. u cant go with what a player says thats respect bron did it last year with kobe and hes the mvp this season

kudabeen u r arguin with the most peaceful dude ever lol i know him

  41. rangerjohn says:

b-diddy must be an off duty wade sucking ref, FOUL? your nuts!

  42. Jau28 says:

I dont think this is best block EVER b/c the ones I’ve seen Hakeem do in his prime were probably the best ever but the best one in recent memory (and I only mention this because I dont think anyone else has) was Jason Maxiell on Tyson Chandlers alley-oop. I was watching that game live in Detroit and I thought that Chandler was gonna hammer the CP3 offering down and then outta NOWHERE was Maxiell. I went nuts.

  43. Kudabeen says:

    thaisito / Ian

It really never was an argument…It is one person telling me what I think…How can saying tony parker made the play and saying that the block wasn’t really that great be stupid???

My point is you state what you think and leave it at that…You dropped my name telling me what I thought…That is impossible…

As far as being peaceful and all that…My dumbing down or “starting shit” means…If I am more careful about emphasizing my commas and ideas when I’m quickly tossing my opinions out there then to me that is too much and it is dumbing down to avoid senseless retorts by the peanut gallery…

Tony Parker made the play possible period…The block was just okay…Bringing up Jordan’s push and evoking the memory David Robinson, that’s stupid…

    done with it.

  44. baron von faulk says:

the block was better than okay, it changed/saved the entire game for SAS.

the timing, the athleticism, the force behind it were all better than okay.

it looks to me like manu made the play, parker just looked like an orange cone out there although he slowed wade from a dunk to a layup attempt, so i’ll give ya that much.

and sorry but i don’t see a foul, whomever said that
