Do You Organize Your Own Run?

Following up our post last week, “Where Do You Play Ball?,” we wanted to take it one step further. We definitely love hearing where y’all get your run in, and please continue to let us know, but now we’re looking for the guys like Jed who organize their own run.

Drop us a line in the comments and let us know where and when your run is, how many guys normally make it out, and what the run is like. Who knows, maybe we’ll come through or feature it on the site…

Is the East Officially Back?

Thinking back on it, it’s been a long time since ESPN ran that commercial in which Stephen A. yells at Carmelo about how the East isn’t all that far behind the West anymore.

But even in that ad, the conversation was still about the East catching up.

After the C’s took the ‘chip last year, and we’ve had the Celtics, the Cavs, and the Magic all leading the League with the best record at one point or another this season, might the East be the premier conference? Read More »

The First Day of Golden State’s Future

When the Warriors dealt for Jamal Crawford, things were already looking bleak. Their season wasn’t necessarily “over” already, but prospects for a playoff push seemed unlikely even at that point.

Thus, Chris Mullin had to believe that the addition of Crawford wouldn’t just patch the void left by Monta Ellis in the short term, but that it would also benefit them down the road.

We’ll get to see them all on the floor together for the first time this season on Wednesday night against Dallas (9 PM, ESPN), and maybe make some early judgments as to whether this whole thing can work out. In fact, it will also provide an opportunity to reexamine a question that most of us decided was answered after Golden State got off to a poor start: what are the Warriors without Baron Davis? Nike KD1: Away Colorway

A while back I put up pics of Kevin Durant’s Nike KD1. The home colorway is bonkers. The design of the show was deal sealer for me, but the colors are ridiculous…especially the away joints. Read More »

(Almost) Daily Fantasy – 1/27/09

Congrats Chris Paul on another fantasy MVP performance. On a night where the stats weren’t overwhelming across the league, CP clearly separated himself from the rest of the pack. Paul had 27 points, 15 assists, 10 boards, 7 steals, and a block. He also shot almost 54% from the field and was 12-12 from the line. That’s just crazy. Now for the rest of the good and bad of the fantasy world.

Yao – No he didn’t play last night, but he looks good to go for tomorrow night and is still a good start this week.

Marcus Camby – The bad news is that he didn’t play last night and is doubtful for Wednesday night. The good news is that he has a chance at paying both weekend games. 2 games of Camby is better than 4 of most second centers. Read More »

Rudy Gay’s Secret Dunk Contest Decision

When it comes to dunk contest promotional videos, this is actually pretty funny. (A well-delivered short joke on Nate Robinson might be the highlight.) Granted, all of these ideas for the contest are terrible.

But for Rudy to take the crown, he might be smart to break out some sort of prop a la Gerald Green. He should probably just stay away from dunking babies.

Chris Paul Is Taking Dwyane Wade’s Circus Shot Title

Last night alone, Chris Paul scored about 10 points on complete bullshit.

He broke down his man, got him leaning, jumped into him and threw up a shot towards the cup. It’s not that he’s chucking “prayers” at the rim because he’s so good at taking contact and still controlling where the ball is going. Read More »

My NBA All-Star Reserves

With the reserve All-Star ballots due today, I thought there was no better time to put together my list of NBA All-Star reserves. Coaches get to select two forwards, two guards, one center and two players from any position to fill out the roster, so realize that there are certain parameters to work within.

Juggling personal achievements, team success and an overall All-Star quality, it was extremely tough this year to settle on just seven, but here’s my list… Read More »

Brandon Roy’s Soul-Crushing Dunk on Cheikh Samb

Brandon Roy‘s checklist for the last week looks something like this. Tell the media that you’re going to “give them something special” and then finish a game with 10 steals. Check. Come out and score 30 the next night. Check. Embarrass someone on the Clippers worse than anyone on the Clippers has been embarrassed all season. Check.

Are you kidding me? Playoffs?

When Eric Snow was on NBA TV last night talking about the Knicks being in “Yes We Can” mode regarding the playoffs — as in this year’s playoffs — our instinct was to write it off as little more than optimistic filler (despite the decidedly more positive vibe in the Knicks locker room this year than during the Isiah era). But then you look at the standings, and New York is only one game behind the Bucks for that eighth seed, and Milwaukee will inevitably struggle in the second half of the season without Michael Redd. (If the Nets lose a superstar in the next couple weeks, go ahead and break out the “Stern wants the Knicks to be good so LeBron will sign with them in 2010″ conspiracy theories.) The Knicks knocked off the Yao-less Rockets at MSG, where the team that was supposed to have been irreparably gutted after the Zach Randolph and Jamal Crawford trades again showed their depth. The bench scored 50-plus points for the fourth game in a row, getting 18 from Wilson Chandler and 19 from Nate Robinson. Chandler knocked down the go-ahead three with two minutes left and had a nasty baseline cram on Luis Scola, who continues to get crammed on while Rick Adelman refuses to play Dikembe MutomboRead More »
