NBA Hit List Power Ranking, 1.22

Our weekly NBA power ranking, from worst to first…

30. Los Angeles Clippers (9-32) — Finally snapped the losing streak at 12, but lost Marcus Camby in the process. With Camby, Kaman, Zach and Baron all nursing injuries, the Clips may want to consider having somebody carry Al Thornton and Eric Gordon from the plane to the hotel.

29. Memphis Grizzlies (11-30) — Last time we checked, Marc Gasol seems to have toned down the, um, baggage-handling at the free throw line. Do you think somebody in the organization had to have a talk with him?

28. Golden State Warriors (13-30) — Last-second finishes, triple-overtime games, more buckets than a 3BA game … at least they’re keeping it interesting.

27. Sacramento Kings (10-33) — At least last week’s triple-OT win over the Warriors will earn the Kings a spot on that “Top 10 Games of the Year” show this spring. Read More »

What Happened To Mike Miller?

What happened? When the Timberwolves traded Antoine Walker, Marko Jaric, Greg Buckner and the rights to No. 3 pick O.J. Mayo to Memphis for Mike Miller, Brian Cardinal, Jason Collins and the rights to No. 5 pick Kevin Love this summer, everyone thought that Minnesota made out like bandits. But for whatever the reason, Miller (one of the keys to the trade) has dropped off the face of the earth. Read More »

Reebok Question: Boston College Special Makeup

Pat Cassidy, Dime’s Editorial Director, is a graduate of Boston College. When we play NCAA 2K he picks the Eagles and tries to score 70 with Tyrese Rice. I mean, Ty Rice tries to do that in real life so it isn’t that far fetched…but I’m sure you guys knew that already. Read More »

Scream Utah!

The other night I turned to Jazz/Wolves and caught an interview with Florida rapper D-Bizz Oh No, described in Smack as “a Soulja Boy look-alike who won a $5,000 contest by creating a Jazz theme song.” I promised a video ASAP, and here it is: “Scream Utah!”

Alonzo Mourning, perhaps the greatest player in Heat history, announced his retirement this afternoon in a news conference in Miami. KJ on Obama: “I Will Skunk Him”

Kevin Johnson, the new mayor of Sacramento, had some choice words for President Barack Obama the other day. We all know Obama plays ball, and KJ is a 3-time NBA All-Star and a 5-time member of the All-NBA Team, but this was a little harsh.

What do you think? Would KJ skunk Obama in a game of one-on-one?

(Almost) Daily Fantasy – 1/22/2009

Holy stats did a lot of guys put up numbers last night. Andrew Bynum had 42, 15, and 3, Steve Nash had 19 assists, and of course LeBron stole the fantasy show with 34 points, 3 threes, 14 rebounds, and 7 boards. The stats were plentiful last night, but lke every other night, there were a few players that stood out and need mentioning in the (Almost) Daily Fantasy.

Rafer Alston – Rafer was awesome last night against the Jazz. I hadn’t seen him play that well in a long time and his game has been on point pretty consistently of late. Last night Skip had 23 points, 5 threes, 8 assists, and 4 boards. He’s an intriguing sell high candidate and might be worth seeing if he has any trade value. Rip Hamilton – I said yesterday in the comments section that I wasn’t worried about Rip coming off the bench. Although yesterday was a blowout, Rip playing in the low 20 minutes isn’t a good sign. I just can’t imagine him not getting his numbers and not playing 30 a night. I’m still not worried. Yet. Read More »
