The Hottest Player in College Basketball

In this young college season, we’ve seen two guys take center stage so far. Blake Griffin and Steph Curry. But now that everyone has come to the realization that Steph isn’t a point guard and he can’t really shake loose from tall, athletic defenders, his stock has cooled slightly. And though Griffin is still putting up monster numbers, they’re still not the 30-point, 20-board stats that we saw at the beginning of the season.

So that leaves room for someone else to take the national spotlight. Meet Jeff Teague. The 6-1 sophomore guard from Wake Forest has ridiculous hops, as evidenced by the multiple dunk of the year nominations that he posted in his freshman campaign, most notably an ugly cram right on top of NC State’s Gavin Grant. But this dude isn’t just a freak dunker. He’s put up at least 30 points, 4 boards and 4 assists in each of his last two games, destroying BYU and then getting it in as No. 4 Wake Forest beat No. 3 UNC last night for 34 points, 6 boards and 4 assists.

Teague could very well climb the ranks in this weak draft class and jump up the board into the first round if he continues to play at this level. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that he’s another point guard coming out of Wake Forest…

Check out what he did to Gerard Anderson (Cal State Fullerton) earlier this year.

Short guys that love the dunk usually don’t work out so well as PG but Harris, Westbrook and Rose might prove that we are moving to a new era of PG’s.

your post doesn’t make sense to me.

that pass won’t get him any playing time in the NBA

Harris, Westbrook and Rose are all 6’3″. Wouldn’t consider them short guys

DIME…You have to do a story on Duke’s Gerald Henderson. In the few games i’ve seen of him in the last couple of seasons this guy may be the best shot blocking guard i’ve ever seen. It’s incredible how many fast break dunks and lay up attempts he blocks. Im talking out of this world. Be the 1st to break the story!

If you think son son is better than Stephen Curry you lost! If you think he is a better point guard prospect than Curry you lost! If you think Stephen Curry can’t score or shake loose on taller more athletic defenders (which is everyone that’s guarded him for the last 1 and 1/3 seasons) you lost. With that said Teague is good. He won’t be that good in the league he will get picked up. And if anyone on that court is flying under the radar it’s Danny Green who plays Defense and shoots the ball well enough to at least play a Bruce Bowen like role in the NBA someday. I am not sold on Ellington, Lawson, or anyone else on North Carolina outside of Green and Hansborough being NBA contributors.

anyone who hates on jeff teague is a nobody and is talkin out of their ass and just repeatin what every college analyst says whos all over currys nuts. teague would take it to curry all day

Kobeef, i think you might have a point. None of the points that could dunk that I can remember had lasting success in the league except Iverson (he could really cram it back in the day, just ask Marcus Camby), Kevin Johnson and Oakland era B. Diddy. Sure, Stevie Franchise and Steph put up some nice digits back in the day, but all their teams sucked. Maybe Harris, Westbrook and D. Rose can change that.
