J.R. Smith Could Win The Dunk Contest
In case you haven’t already heard, J.R. Smith will be replacing Rudy Gay (who’s out with a left hip flexor strain) in the 2009 Sprite Slam Dunk Contest. The last time J.R. was in the competition, he pulled off a nasty, behind-the-back flush but ended up losing to Josh Smith.

He’ll definitely put on a better show than Gay. I’m surprised they didn’t resort to the 2nd highest vote getter from that Sprite thing.
Either way, JR could definitely make the comp more interesting, Nate not taking a million attempts could also help too, lol.

(1) With Gay dropping out, shouldnt have the NBA allowed in Joe Alexander or Russell Westbrook?
(2) Couldnt a financially-struggling NBA team sign James White for the minimum and have him compete in the dunk contest which would draw many fans to the arena.
(3) Agree to expand the field back to 6 dunkers.

Just like in a game, JR has a 50% chance of going off and winning and a 50% chance of being a complete space cadet and finishing last. He is that volatile.

@Mikey, Both brent and flight are choke artists in big time dunk contests. which is why both lost their respective years in the ncaa contest…james will do his same 3 foul line dunks (foul line 2 hands, foul line wind mill, foul line rider) and brent will do alot of nice dunks but miss it when it counts…some no name is gonna win.
@melo, Jr is known to miss dunks too..dwight got most of his on his first try
