When Raef LaFrentz started the season, who knew he might be the most important guy on the Blazers roster. Being paid $12.7 million this season with an expiring contract, any trade proposal/rumor the Blazers are involved in has featured LaFrentz as the centerpiece. But with the clock ticking down and about to strike 3:00 PM in a matter of hours, here are the latest Trail Blazer deals:

I knew everything that I needed to know about Rodney Stuckey to write this feature before I ever spoke with him. His step-mom Diane McElhinney took about an hour out of her day to tell me a story that she says has never been “fully explained”. But ultimately, the details of exactly how her family and the Stuckey family becoming one, “big, beautiful, blended family” aren’t important. In her mind – and in mine – the take-away from their tale is Rodney’s resiliency, which applies to their family life and his basketball exploits in equal measure.
RESCUE ME
Rodney Stuckey has been blessed to get help on his road to success. But he’s at his best when he’s the one to come to save the day.

Even if Tony Allen were 100% healthy, the Celtics would hopefully be pursuing Raja Bell with equal vigor.
Boston’s been searching for that James Posey replacement ever since he up-and-signed with the Hornets during the off-season. They hoped that TA would be that guy. He’s proven that he is definitely not that guy – he’s a mediocre defender, and at times he makes Ricky Davis look like a pass-first guard.
So the question for the Celtics is how they can possibly land Bell.

We argue. You decide…
PAUL MILLSAP (by Aron Phillips)
I know what you’re thinking. If Carlos Boozer wasn’t hurt, Paul Millsap wouldn’t even be starting for the Jazz. But if the Knicks hadn’t ever traded Zach Randolph, then David Lee would be the first off the bench for New York along with Nate-Rob. So with opportunity comes results. And in the case of Millsap, the results have been impressive. Read More »

With the NBA trade deadline passing today at 3 p.m. EST, DimeMag.com will be your news and rumor central for the day. Trades big and small, rumors big and small, fantasy breakdowns of whatever deals go down — we’ll be all over who goes where and what those moves mean as the season goes into the playoff stretch. If you’ve got a little GM in your blood and have your own trades in mind, take a crack at them HERE to see if they work; for example, Dime’s Andrew Katz thinks the Lakers need to trade for Shaq, and gives his ideal proposal a test run. (On that note, also keep your eyes peeled today as we’ll be posting AK’s feature on Rodney Stuckey from Dime #47, which you can get on newsstands nationwide right now) … Yesterday’s standout deal was the three-team swap between the Kings, Bulls and Blazers. But the bigger trade news was the Tyson Chandler non-deal. After Chandler failed his physical, the Thunder sent him back to New Orleans, which is really better news for the Hornets than anyone else. No doubt Chris Paul, the rest of the team (except maybe Hilton Armstrong) and the disgruntled N.O. fans are happy to have Chandler back, but can you imagine the first run-in between Chandler and the Hornets management? Awkwarrrrrd … Read More »

Looks like Andrew’s proposal to trade Lamar Odom, Chris Mihm, and DJ Mbenga to the Suns for Shaquille O’Neal can’t happen, after the Lakers just traded Mihm to the Grizzlies in exchange for a conditional 2nd round pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. Read More »

Trades are going down and they have IMMEDIATE fantasy ramifications. Pick ups right now:
Andres Nocioni - He should get 30+ on the Kings and have an immediate fantasy impact. He’s most likely unowned so hustle to the add/drop page and make it happen.
Jason Thompson and Spencer Hawes - Both players are possibly owned but if not, grab them. The youth movement is on in Sactown.
Kirk Hinrich - If Kirk goes to the Wolves he will step in as their primary point guard and have value again. If you can afford to stash him, do it.

After sending Andres Nocioni, Drew Gooden, Cedric Simmons and Michael Ruffin to the Kings for Brad Miller and John Salmons, it appears the Bulls are just getting started. According to the Daily Herald, the Bulls are also trying to trade Kirk Hinrich to the Timberwolves for the expiring contract of Jason Collins and some other undetermined player.
I’d say the only way the Bulls trade Hinrich for an expiring deal is if they have something else brewing. One theory is Collins and whoever else (Sebastian Telfair as a backup for Steve Nash?) would be sent to Phoenix for Amare Stoudemire, along with Tyrus Thomas, Thabo Sefolosha and draft picks. With the trade deadline less than 24 hours away, we’ll be combing through every trade rumor that comes across the wire and bringing it right to you. But in addition, we’ll also be hitting you up with some suggestions for various squads around the League (after clearing trades through ESPN’s Trade Machine, of course).
About two weeks ago, we proposed that the Lakers address the loss of Andrew Bynum until April at the very earliest, by going out and dealing Lamar Odom (and some peripheral pieces) to the Knicks for David Lee.
While that might help them on the glass, Lee’s rebounding probably isn’t worth taking on Eddy Curry‘s bloated deal, which is a prerequisite for any trade that involves giving up Lee according to Donnie Walsh.
But if the Lakers want to win now, they should go out and fortify their front lines. Here’s how they do it:
* Trade Lamar Odom, Chris Mihm, and DJ Mbenga to the Suns for Shaquille O’Neal
