A Legend Is Born

Our friends at adidas sent another new Dwight Howard video our way this afternoon. This one features Dwight and Kevin Garnett in a gym talking about the prep work that went into Dwight’s dunk contest performance last year. How’s this for dedication? Dwight says he practiced for a year-and-a-half on his behind the backboard dunk. Check it out in the video …

The Best Clutch Player in the Game Today

If you look back through the Dimemag.com archives about five months ago, you’d see a whole lot of Carmelo hate in the comments section. The talk about him being overrated, out of shape and indifferent ran rampant. But since Chauncey has come to Denver, ‘Melo is now seen as the consensus best small forward in the West. And according to the folks at 82games.com, he is also one of the best, clutch performers in the game today. Read More »

Al Jefferson – Fantasy Implications

With the devastating news that Al Jefferson will miss the rest of the season the fantasy implications are huge and your actions must be swift. Most likely the biggest benefactor is Kevin Love who is probably owned. If he is not, you should stop reading and pick him up. That being said, Ryan Gomes may be the big winner here. Gomes has been playing 30+ on most nights but his production has been inconsistent. The Wolves will need his scoring for the rest of the season. The other place that deep leagues may want to look is Craig Smith. Smith has been dreadfully inconsistent but may get the first shot at big center/power forward minutes. He’s a little bit of a reach but I guarantee you he has some big games.

As for Jefferson… ugh. If you’re in a keeper league, you obviously can’t cut him. If you’re not in a keeper league, close your eyes and press that “drop” button. It’s going to sting though.

Breaking News: Al Jefferson Out For The Season

After we were just talking about Al Jefferson as an All-Star snub, looks like Big Al wouldn’t have been playing in Phoenix either way. Word out of Minneapolis is that the Timberwolves’ star center is out indefinitely with a torn ACL in his right knee.

If by indefinitely, they mean the rest of the season, then we’re on the same page. But regardless of Coach Kevin McHale’s optimism, I don’t see the 17-33 Timberwolves winning many more games. Read More »

This is Important

We were reading some articles on the Blazers-dedicated blog Blaze of Love when we spotted a tribute to the current trend among NBA dance squads employing “boy shorts” for their talent.

Apparently they noticed the look on the Blazers dancers and further “research” turned up samples from around the League.

Sure, the post is from November, but we thought it was important to share. Otherwise you might have missed out on our friend from the Rockets here on the left. Read More »

Steve Nash is playing too much

After Steve Nash‘s 15-point, 21-assist performance in Detroit last night, he was interviewed by the NBA TV studio crew. Beyond discussing the game itself, Nash addressed the trade rumors surrounding the Suns, plus some of the issues that currently have them sitting in eighth place in the West standings.

Then near the end of the interview, Nash casually dropped this line: “I’m playing a lot more than I have in years.” Maybe it’s just me, but I thought I caught a hint of frustration there. Read More »
